Andrew's POV
My heart sank and I forgot how to breathe for a moment, as the pungent scent of rogues hit me.
They were here, again. Or rather, they had been here. The scent was becoming faint like they had just left before we arrived.
I gritted my teeth, furiously. How dare they come again? What was their purpose? Were they planning to kidnap my mate, again?
My wolf snarled inwardly. However, I fought to keep calm and maintain a neutral expression. Jade must not know what was going on.
Subtly, I scanned our surroundings, my eyes darting around for any immediate threats.
"Andrew? Is everything okay? You look... Tensed?" I heard Jade's voice say behind me. Her melodic voice pulled me from my thoughts.
"Tensed? No, absolutely not. I was just thinking of what to prepare for you that will blow your mind off." I lied to her, forcing a smile and then squeezed her hand, in reassurance.
She bought the lie and flashed a smile at me.
