Jade's POV
"Did he know I was eavesdropping on their conversation earlier?" I wondered inwardly, feeling afraid as I stared at Raymond with his hard expression.
"What will I say to him now? How do I deny it?" I breathed in and out shakily. Then as if he had smelt or felt my fear, his expression softened and a small smile played on his lips.
"It is actually nothing too serious. We can talk about it tomorrow if you are not up for it tonight." He spoke up, gently.
"I'm sorry, I was just drifting off to sleep when I heard you knock." I lied through my teeth. I knew I wouldn't be able to face him to talk about anything, at the moment. I was too shaken. He had shown up at my doorstep when I didn't expect.
"Oh, sorry. I should have thought of the possibility that you would have fallen asleep. I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep. Go back to bed. We will talk tomorrow." He stated, giving me a tight smile that didn't reach his eyes.
