Andrew's POV
I stepped out of the house, my mind still reeling from the encounter with Jade. The cool evening air hit my face, but it did little to clear the worry clouding my thoughts.
As I walked down the driveway, lost in contemplation about what could have upset Jade so deeply, something caught my attention.
A scent. Familiar, yet wrong.
I froze mid-step, my nostrils flaring. My wolf stirred within me, suddenly alert. It was Jade's scent, but it was intertwined with something else – something unfamiliar and unsettling.
Instinctively, I closed my eyes, focusing all my energy on my heightened senses. As I concentrated, I could separate the scents. Jade's familiar sweet fragrance was there, but it was tainted by something acrid and foreign. The unknown scent was potent, a mix of expensive cologne, tobacco, and an undercurrent of... menace.
