Jade's POV
My heart pounded in my chest as I stared at Marcus standing in the doorway. The world seemed to tilt on its axis, and for a moment, I couldn't breathe.
What was he doing here? My mind raced, trying to make sense of his presence.
Both Mom and Raymond were home. This wasn't part of the plan – at least, not any plan I knew about. What game was Marcus playing?
I felt Andrew's eyes on me, watching my reaction closely. Forcing myself to take a deep breath, I plastered on what I hoped was a neutral expression. I couldn't let Andrew suspect anything was amiss. I had to play it cool.
"Marcus, what are you doing here?" I managed to say, proud that my voice didn't shake.
His smile widened, predatory and knowing. It made my skin crawl.
"Now, now, Jade. Is that any way to greet a family?" He asked rhetorically.
