Jade's POV
"Excuse me!" I snapped at Andrew and walked out on him, dragging Juanita along.
It took everything in me to not break down before Andrew, and maybe sob in his arms and allowed him to offer me comfort and warmth. He had declared that he belonged to me, and I was his to protect but I had pushed him away, in the presence of everybody. I knew how that would hurt him and the realization made my heart ache.
As I hurried out of the cafeteria, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. I hated the way I had just treated Andrew, but I knew it was necessary.
The look of hurt and confusion on his face was killing me, but I couldn't allow myself to accept his declarations of belonging to me. It wasn't safe, and I couldn't put him in that kind of danger.
"Jade, stop!" Juanita said, holding my hand down to stop me from walking, her voice laced with concern.
Reluctantly, I stopped walking, but didn't face her.
