Jade's POV
I almost scoffed at Marcus's statement.
I felt like I was trapped in some bizarre nightmare. Just as I was about to respond to his outrageous claim, my mom appeared in the doorway, a bright smile plastered on her face.
"Marcus! It's been far too long!" she exclaimed, rushing over to embrace him.
I watched in utter disbelief as she hugged the man who had caused us, especially me, so much pain and fear. My mind raced, trying to make sense of what was happening.
"Selena, my dear sister, how I have missed you!" Marcus replied, returning the hug with enthusiasm that made my skin crawl.
Mom pulled back, holding Marcus at arm's length as she examined him.
"Look at you! Still as handsome as ever. How long has it been? Two years?" My mom asked.
Marcus chuckled, a sound that sent shivers down my spine.
"Three years actually. Time flies when you're globetrotting." He stated.
