Chapter 18 - Just How Many World Prisons Are There?

"There are actually 10 world prisons constructed on each part of the planet, where we are currently is in the north, this is just one of the ten world prisons in the north."

"What? How can that even be possible?" Bray's eyes widened in disbelief as he abruptly stood up from his bed. This wasn't something he could believe, not now, and not ever, Unfortunately, at this moment he was left with no other choice.

There are actually so many prisons in the world. How can they be able to capture so many awakened? Bray was feeling like a deflated balloon inwards, to think there were actually ten prisons in just the northern sector of this planet.

Bray felt that there would definitely be different sets of prisons for the north, east, west, and south. "Let me guess, there are also ten prisons for the other regions."

"That is correct," Sloven answered truthfully, which caused Bray's mouth to twitch. It was only now that he understood the immensity of this planet, World Prison 304. These words resounded in his mind as his mouth once again twitched uncontrollably.

Could that mean there are even hundreds of prisons like this one? Bray didn't dare let his thoughts linger on this, right now, he would only be concerned with how to survive.

"What's with that statement, outer section? Are there other sections as well?" Bray then asked, recalling something.

"That is right, there is also the mid-sector, you know that currently there will be a death competition in three months where only one of us will come out alive," Sloven explained as Bray listened attentively.

"After that competition, the winners of all four regions will come together and form another cell mate, at the end of one year, all the winners from the past twelve months will struggle once again in a fierce competition."

"The winner of that competition would then go on to enter the inner circle, where the competition for survival is held every ten years. I found this all recorded in this dairy." Sloven took out an old book that had faintly withered due to the passing of years.

Bray at this moment was soaked in cold sweat, his pupils had already been constricted as thin needles, he truly couldn't believe what he was hearing. To think the prison would be this terrifying, just how strong would the person who will survive in the end be? Bray suddenly didn't feel too confident in himself.

Would he be able to become as strong as needed before two months were up? Although he had the system and all, he couldn't help but doubt himself.

He proceeded to collect the dairy from Sloven. He wondered how Sloven was able to handle the immensity of the information, could that be the reason why he was slightly nervous previously?

Bray shook his head, not lingering on this thought. He opened the dairy, and as soon as he did, a line of words appeared on the first page.

"MAD! THEY ARE TRULY MAD! NO HUMAN CAN POSSIBLY SURVIVE SUCH!!! THIS IS PURE MADNESS! I CAN'T BELIEVE-"

The writing looked as though the person who wrote it had encountered something horrifying, Bray couldn't help but imagine what exactly he had to have seen in order to almost be driven to madness.

One had to know that, through the description in the book of the world prison, Bray already had an idea of how terrifying the inner section of the world prison would be. Could it be that he discovered what lies beyond winning the inner section competition that is held once every ten years?

Bray could only infer and come to conclusions using his own thoughts. He continued to read on, and he discovered that most of the things written here were similar to what Sloven had said. As he reached the middle of the book, Sloven's gaze turned slightly strange.

"That will be enough," he said, not giving Bray a chance to continue reading. Thankfully, Bray had already predicted the fact that Sloven would try something like this, so he had copied the book using the system.

"Thank you for today. When do we begin the escape mission?" Bray thanked Sloven before changing the topic. It was true for him that he was able to gain so much information about this world prison, and so he felt extremely grateful.

"The escape mission? It has already begun!" Sloven said standing up, he walked to the door in his shackles, and only when he reached it did he continue with another line of statement, "I will contact you in a few to tell you what you need to do."

After finishing his statement, without waiting for Bray to react, Sloven reached out and opened the door before walking out, leaving Bray stunned. The escape mission has begun? Bray was surprised for a moment. Will the X-level mission be completed so soon?

It seems I need to improve my strength rapidly, The first thing I should do is increase my strength value by six thousand, after which I will go out and challenge people with strength as that stronghold and agility as their weakness.

After gaining their ability and versatile points, I will then increase my agility before increasing my other attributes.

System, can I challenge the same person twice and still gain versatile points? Bray asked curiously.

[No!]

The system's stern reply doused Bray's excitement, but he didn't feel too surprised, because if it were allowed, he could just go and meet his cursed friend Gahorl and challenge him once again. After what I did to him the last time, will he still agree to a challenge request from me? Bray didn't know whether to laugh or cry when he recalled the events that had occurred previously.

Right, if I had taken the cursed ability from Gahorl, would the ability I gained also be cursed? Bray suddenly realized something he had overlooked, he had just thought he had gained his opponent's ability, completely forgetting the fact that his opponent was a cursed being.

Is it because I was too excited?

System, the ability I gained from Gahorl, did it retain its cursed effect?
