After explaining the rules to Bray and the others, Raphael and the other guards left them and headed over to the other side of the field, where Bray and the others came from.
Leaving only the last unknown guard behind. Bray, as well as the other worldenders were slightly nervous. The guard didn't say anything to them, only giving them a sidelong glance while treating them like air that was almost nonexistent.
He went towards the gate behind them, where there were a couple of intricate seals placed on the black gate. After weaving some hand movements, the gate cracked, with a slight breeze leaking out.
Bray could faintly feel the ferocious nature that lurked behind the gate. He took a moment to use the system to access what sort of ability the other party had, since he was able to use his ability, surely he was above power level 100.
With the scan of the system, Bray confirmed his guess, his name was Solvet, and truly, his power level was at 102, just slightly above 100. Although his power level was only slightly above 100, he had already become a terrifying existence compared to Bray and the others.
After all, he could use the hidden power of his ability.
[Unshackle (c-grade): an ability that can unshackle chains, seals, and the like. This is a good defense ability, which at times can slightly unshackle the ethereal essence of an element, slightly or significantly reducing the damage output of the attack.]
[Increases all defensive stats by 1000x]
After reading the information about the ability, Bray seemed to have come to an understanding, so this is what the latent meaning of the name of an ability is. Just the name unshackle could bring about such great changes.
If I encounter someone with the SSS-grade curse, would I then be able to glean in on what type of curses there are? Although he saw that Gahorl was cursed, he didn't fully understand the essence of curses.
Seeing the detailed information about the guard's ability, Bray felt inclined to believe that the system would definitely give him a more detailed information about the ability if he could scan someone with it directly rather than asking it for information about it.
The only question was if he would be able to survive if he were to encounter such an entity, after all, the highest grade of ability he had was at the b-grade. Thinking this, his gaze abruptly turned to Sloven, Don't die on me, man. You have something I want.
Sloven was the only one with an S-grade ability, after all, the highest in their prison. Bray didn't want to miss out on such a large piece of meat just yet. The only reason he hadn't challenged Sloven yet and gained his ability was because he knew that he could not defeat him.
Now wasn't the time to be irrational, even though he was in a haste.
…
Following the unshackling of the sealed gate, multiple roars resounded from behind it. Bray and the others could feel a wave of pressure envelop them, this pressure stemmed from constantly being bathed in blood and ferocity.
It was the condensed intent to kill, to destroy. After that, a couple of beasts emerged from the opened gate. Bray looked intently because he wanted to see what sort of beasts the world beasts were.
And truly, he did see, multiple beasts appeared, causing Bray to be stunned, they were nothing like the lions, wolves, tigers, etcetera that were on earth. This beasts didn't have a fixed shape.
It was as though each and every one of them was from a different race. The two-headed beast on the side, that looked like the combination of a lion and a wolf.
The three-headed snake beast that looked as though it could swallow all of them at once. All of them were equally ferocious in their own right, and that wasn't even the worst part.
They were all a couple of meters taller than Bray and the rest, and each and every one of the 10+ beasts could swallow them in the blink of an eye. If their agility was found to be lacking, they would immediately be swallowed, without a chance to react.
Are we supposed to survive while running away from these monsters? Bray was puzzled, even for someone with such terrifying strength as him, he found it hard to survive in the pursuit of such existences.
One strange thing was the fact that these monsters didn't move after coming out of the sealed gate, they were firmly rooted in their spots as though they were waiting for a command.
"You, you, you," the guard suddenly began pointing out at random, causing Bray to be curious at what he was about to do again: "Take this, use it as a form of protection, the beasts will not attack you as long as you have this."
There were almost thirty prisoners present, and now that about six iron plaques were passed down, those that received them were naturally happy. Bray felt worried that he didn't receive any plaques when he heard the guard's next words.
Roarrrrrrrr
Hoarrrrrrrr
Tsssssssss
"Haha, look at your expressions, you really think such a thing as being helped exists in this prison, those plaques are to attract the beasts to you. With those in your hand, the beast will pursue you relentlessly until you reach the other side of this field, where beast repellant plaques are."
"Of course, you should do your best not to drop your plaque," he paused for a moment, glancing at the prisoners that were about to throw away their plaques, "they have been imbued with SS-grade virus ability essence."
"In essence, if the plaque is dropped, the previous wielder would automatically explode, the only exception is if it touches someone else within the span of the first 10 seconds, it leaves your hand."
"After that, the plague will become attached to the person and will no longer be bound to you."
"Alright, you are given a 5-minute headstart, after which the world beasts here will begin their pursuit, let the fun game of race begin!!!"
Geez, f**k this damn place, was Bray's only thought as he…
