Chapter 2
The car stopped at the parking lot of the mall and Cora got out of it with a smile
"Wait here, i'll go pack the car properly" Mona said and drove off
Cora stood at the side waiting when she suddenly sighted a familiar face walking towards her, her heart sank and she felt a bitter feeling in her stomach
Kimora Miller had just walked out if the mall carring lots of shopping bags and chatting joyfully with her friends when she suddenly sighted the she-wolf of the family getting out of a car that surely didn't belong to her, she never believed Cora would find luck again especially after the ridicle and insults she had recieved from everyone but seeimg her looking beautiful and well kept made jealousy stare up in her heart, she knew she could be keeping an old rich man by her side, what a slut!
She walked quickly to Cora with a pretense smile on her face
"Long time no see,the whole family thought you may have died all those years ago, guess its true when they say a leopard never changes its spots" Her lips culed slightly revealing a smirk which only annoyed Cora but she choose to ignore her, it wasn't her fault anyways,she had fallen into a trap that night and had slept with an unknown man, she had wamted to abort the baby but she couldn't afford to commit a murder to her own and now that Nancy had grown into a beautiful and loving child she wouldn't give her up for the world
Kimora realised she was being ignored and anger surfaced her jealousy, she wonderd what gave this slut the audacity to ignore her, she held her hand up to slap Cora when she suddenly felt another hand hold her tightly,pain was all she could fell at that moment and it was as if her hand was been pierced sharply with a knife
"I ignore you but that doesn't mean i've forgotten how your family severed ties with me, stay out of my way or you'll live to regret it" Cora's words felt like a slap on the face and her grip only tightened, she slowly let go of Kimora's arm as she winced in pain and left her to reflect deeply on her words.
Kimora held her gripped arm angrily,Cora would pay and would beg for her forgiveness soon enough
After the girls had finished picking up work clothes for Cora's interview the next day, they both walked up to a nearby restaurant to eat, the waiter walked up to them with a pleasant smile
"What would you girls like" She asked staring at Mona, Cora sighted her and realised she was old but stared at Mona like she was her daughter, it seemed they were close
"We'll take my favourite Cuba Sandwich Mama Rhea" Mona said with the same smile
Mama Rhea left to take their order and Mona stared at Cora angrily
"When are you going to tell me about what happened in the mall? "She asked while staring at Cora's shocked gaze
"I...it wasn't worth talking about" Cora mumbled and clenched her fists
Mama Rhea walked up to them and dropped what they ordered on the table before leaving
"She's the past"Cora sighed
"It doesn't matter who she is, I just don't want healed wounds to reopen once again,you and Nancy have suffered a lot already" Mona said concerned, she knew the arrogant lady who spoke to Cora was non other than Cora's sister, Kimora Miller, she was also pissed and wanted to find every possible way to hurt her the same way she hurt Cora,if not for Cora's sanity she would've caused a scene,that's if Kimora hadn't already, she loved her friend and would surely do anything for her
Cora on the other hand knew how much Mona was concerned about her and Nancy, her phone suddenly made a beep sound and she realised it was an alarm to pick Nancy from school, she had already finished her sandwich and stood up
"Mona I have to pick Nancy from school, she's not used to me picking her up late"Cora said and gave Mona a hug before leaving.
"Say hello to my baby for me, dad's expecting me at the company"Mona hugged her back before watching her leave

Miss Flora was talking to a young woman around Cora's age when she sighted Cora she smiled
"Good afternoon Miss Miller, this is Miss Logan, Nancy's teacher"Miss Flora introduced the lady next to her who gave Cora a weird look
"Nice to meet you Miss Logan, I'm Nancy's mother" Cora said with her sweet smile. Logan stared at her indifferently, she couldn't help but feel jealous of Cora's mesmerizing beauty and Cora also being Nancy mother made her hate her to the core. She knew that the Miller family had an illigetimate daughter but it was no secret that Cora got pregnant for another man even after she was bethroned to Richard Brown, one of the most prestigious business man in the country yet Cora wanted to satisfy her desires and ended up getting pregnant out of wedlock to a man she knew nothing about, some woman just couldn't keep their body in place
"Mommy!"Nancy's cute voice was heard from afar and Cora looked up only to sight her running down the stairs, she held her once she was close to her and gave her a big hug
"How was school today?" Cora asked softly while kissing Nancy's temples, she then noticed the scar on her forehead and her brows furrowed in shock
"What happened to you baby?"Her eyes scanned Nancy's face as if checking for more scars
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about Miss Miller, Nancy fought with another kid today and the kid used her nails to pierce her forehead,I tried to find out what stared it up but Miss Logan said it was all Nancy's fault" Miss Flora stated with a sad expression
Nancy didn't say a word and it saddened Cora's heart
"I'm really sorry Miss Logan, I'll try to speak to her"Cora said with a sigh
"Well how about to apologise to the students parents instead tomorrow, there coming tommorow at closing, we need to hear their words before we give punishment to the kid at fault" Logan said rudely,Cora nodded slightly ignoring her tone before holding hands with Nancy and leaving the school premises

"Mommy are you mad at me" Nancy cute voice echoed into Cora's ears,she knew she couldn't stay mad at Nancy for long but was both disappointed and surprised she had fought again even after her promise that morning
"Baby why did you break your promise to mommy, now mommy is sad and it's your fault"Cora said with a sigh
"It was Zara's fault,she told me my daddy didn't want me because I'm a wild child, I didn't mean to push her, she pushed me first" Nancy pouted angrily while clenching her little hands into a fist was confused at that moment, she had heard from Miss Flora that Nancy had started the fight, she knew Nancy would never lie to her but she really needed to be sure about this or her daughter would be expelled from the only school they could afford.She looked at Nancy and held her hands
"Miss Logan said you started the fight,is that true?"She asked softly
Nancy shaked her head angrily
"I would never lie to you mommy, Miss Logan believed Zara without hearing my side of the story, it's because Zara has a rich daddy but I don't have one" Cora felt her heart ache at that moment, she held her daughter and hugged her while kissing her temples
"Mommy loves you,Zara has daddy and you have mommy okay"Her voice chocked as tears gathered in her eyes
"No mommy, Zara has mommy and daddy,can I have mommy and daddy too"Nancy asked and Cora closed her eyes as her tears flew freely, she had always tried to stay strong in front of Nancy but whenever Nancy cried about wanting a father, she would also cry too
"I'm sorry for making you cry mommy,I'll never ask of daddy again"Nancy said hugging and kissing her mommy, her mommy always did the same when she cried and it always made her feel happier
"Mommy loves you so much and tommorow if I pass the interview, I'll buy you anything you want"Cora cleaned her tears and smiled happily at her daughter
Nancy was relieved she had made her mommy happy again,she smiled back and helped her clean her tears
The night went just like that with mommy and daughter hugging each other lovingly ready to take the force of the world together

"Bye bye mommy"Nancy blew a goodbye kiss to her mother before heading towarsmds her classroom happily,she had promised not to fight anyone again and also to never ask if daddy, Cora wondered why that second promise seemed to give her sleepless nights
She waited for Miss Flora to walk up to her
"I'm very sorry for Miss Logan's mean behavior yesterday,she never means to be rude,she just cares a lot about the kids, I promise I'll talk to her,she deserves to know how good if a parent you are"Flora said with a genuine smile.Cora smiled back and thanked her
"I'll come as soon as they close,I have an interview today so I won't be able to come earlier"She explained
"That's not a problem,I'll wait and good luck with the interview.
Cora nodded and walked away so as to get a cab,she didn't notice Logan pass by her and her face full of distain.Logan stared at her enviously,she wondered how a woman who had given birth to s child at such a young age would still have perfect skin,curves and beauty,no wonder she could be able to seduce those men she was chasing to pay her bills, what a wild harlot she was!She will really have to look for a better way to get her nosy child out of the school
