Chapter 4
Cora stared at the manager for a while before answering his question
" Yes!" Her answer was brief and clear but the room still reaked of whispers from the others seated.
" Miss Miller, this company does not allow distractions of any kind while working, we understand you want a better future for your child but if it hinders your compliance in any works...."
"No it won't, though I'm here to take this job, I won't forget the responsibilities I'm laid off with as a mother and have arranged any necessary thing to give my child a good life, all I ask is to get this job to give her a financially stable one" Cora said confidently
The room grew silent and Cora counted the seconds that passed carefully, it was their words against hers, will they give her the job or not?
"Miss Miller, we would love to have you join this company as you are the perfect candidate for the job, you may begin work immediately" Shawn said with a pleasant smile
Cora couldn't help to smile as well,she nodded and shook hands with everyone present before stepping out of the office
Cora was shown her office and was given an assignment as quickly as possible, luckily she knew all about the marketing strategies needed for the assignment she was to work on, Della was assigned to give her the assignment for the first day and to also help her with what she needed
"The manager will need you to make a social media plot for the new product we would advertise tommorow, the plot would be shown to the president so don't make any mistakes" Della imstructed
Cora nodded and thanked her before settling down to begin her work for the day, she hadn't began when she remembered she needed to pick Nancy from school, she decided to ask Mona for help
"Mona I really need your help, Nancy's still in school and I'm at work please could you help pick her up"She typed
"No worries"Mona typed back and Cora let out a sigh of relief
Cora began her plot and tried her best to use one of the social media apps as the marketing tool for the company,soon it was break but her head was into what she was doing
"Are you almost done?"Della asked as soon as she walked into the office
"It will take me a while to finish it up but I'll be done by the end of tommorow"Cora said with a smile
"Great, I came to ask if you'll like to have lunch together"Della gave her a friendly smile
Cora realised how tired she was at that moment, she had been so busy that she forgot to eat her own meal
"I'd love to, let me switch off the computer first"She walked up to the computer and closed what she was working on before leaving
Cora and Della walked to the restaurant situated outside the office,all staffs ate there as they served the best meal.They walked up to an empty seat and sat down
"I'll go order something, what do you want?"Della asked standing up
"Anything you order" Cora said, she actually didn't know what she could order as it was her first time,Della didn't say anything but walked away to take their order
"Abby! your finally back form France!did you see the prince charming,Frank? Fred?or was it Mat?"A cute cherry tennage voice brushed through Cora's ears and as she tried to answer the questions thrown at her, her mind suddenly sparked
She wasn't Abby!
Everyone stared at the direction of the voice and soon they spotted it's owner, a teenage beautiful girl had shouted and waved to an extremely beautiful woman sitting not to far from her
Maella White looked at Cora with a smile in her face and without warning stood up and ran up to her
"Abby you didn't tell me you would be back this week, how was your trip?"Her voice showed she was very excited but Cora was super confused
"I'm not Abby" She mumbled quietly, Maella as if realising her mistake looked at Cora differently,she stated that her for a moment before frowning
" If you aren't Abby then who are you?rbig bro doesn't allow theifs in his company"She said while rolling her eyes but everyone heard her clearly and began to mummured amongst themselves
"Isn't that Miss White, the presidents sister?" One of the employees said with an astonished gaze
"I heard she's a model and movie star, I heard she is beautiful but they really underestimated how pretty she is!"A male staff said with a grin
"Forget her, who's that woman, I've never seen her in the company before, Miss Whites the president's sister,she must be right by calling that woman a their look her pretty she is, she must be one of those people who follow rich old men around begging for their assistance" Another woman said enviously while shamelessly eying Cora
Comments flew here and there and this drove the restaurant into chaos, Maella stared at Cora with a hint of anger in her eyes, she had thought she had seen a highschool mate, but it was obviously someone else and from the whispers she was sure she didn't belong in the company
Della had just finished taking their order when she heard a angry voice from someone in the restaurant, she also saw Cora being in the center of whatever was happening, surprised she walked over and everyone instantly became quiet, everyone knew Della held an important position in the company and anything said wrongly would instantly be reported by her
"What Is going on here" Della asked but everyone still remained quiet, she felt irritated and angry that they could gossip joyfully but not want to get punished for it
"Miss Della, this woman isn't a staff in this company and we were wondering what she was doing in this restaurant" After a while, a male staff finally found his voice
Della looked at them angrily
"And how is that any of your business, what if she's just to my friend, does that give you any right to harass her in any way"
Cora stared at Della greatfully, no other person except Mona and Nancy had stood up for her the way Della did, she couldn't help but feel warmth in her heart
"If she isn't a your friend, then who is she?"Maella found herself asking, she couldn't help but feel bad for talking badly to Cora but curiousity aslo pricked her, she was sure Cora could make a ton of money with her looks and curves and couldn't help but feel a little jealous, but now she really wanted to ask for her forgiveness
Della knew who Maella was and knew she couldn't cross paths with her, she decided to answer her honestly since there was really nothing to hide
"She's a new staff Mr White employed today, the marketing assistant" Della said with a warm smile
Maella felt guilty all of a suddenly, she had spoken badly to someone she knew nothing abut, she felt a bitter feeling in her heart and knew it wouldn't leave till she apologized
"I am very sorry, I shouldn't have spoken rudely to you, I was just trying to let off some steam" She apologized with her head lowered with respect. Everyone stared at her in shock and couldn't help but feel dumbfounded, Miss White's had enough power to make a staff disappear from the company but she was apologising to a low staff with so much respect, everyone had heard different stories on how mean and arrogant she was but seeing her behaving in such a manner changed their minds about her in an instane
Cora saw how genuine Maella had apologized and decided to forgive, but she didn't forget to respect Maella as well for she was an important figure I. The president's heart, she smiled lightly and answered
"There's no problem Miss White, I have forgiven you" Her words made Maella smile while the others smiled, her voice was as pure as water and soothing to the ears, enough to make someone sleep at any moment
Maella nodded happily before turning around and leaving the restaurant, she had wanted to visit her big bro in the office today but had been distracted when she saw Cora earlier, but no one knew that they had been to preoccupied by the situation going on inside that they didn't notice the curious eyes of Sebastian lingering inside the restaurant

Sebastein had just walked out of his office so as to get lunch only to be called by Mr White, he let out a frown before walking to the door just few meters from his office
"Knock!" The door vibrated to the knock and a chilly voice answered immediately
"Come in !" Sebastian quickly changed his frown into a smile and opened the door slightly, he entered into the office which had a cold temperature whilch could easily make him faint at any moment, he stared at the air conditioner and realised it had been turned off, what then made the room so cold?
"Mr White, is...there anything ..you need"He asked with a shaky voice after a few seconds of unbearable silence
Arthur kept staring at his computer without looking up but that only increased Sebastian's heratbeat
"Get me a cup of coffee, no sugar and no ice cubes" Arthur said lazily
Sebastian nodded but still stood still
" Get out!" Arthur's cold voice rang into Sebastian's ears and he almost ran out of the room.
Taking the private elevator, Sebastian got out of the company and headed towards the restaurant not to far from him, he knew better than leaving the office without Arthur's permission as it was simply agreeing to a death warrant, he sighed and couldn't help but pity himself for his cowardness
Just as he was about to step in, he heard a harsh voice from a teenager who happened to be the president's sister
"If your aren't Abby then who are you? big bro doesn't allow theifs in his company" Maella's voice could be heard by everyone in the room, Sebastian stared at the woman she was talking to but didn't seem to recognize her, he got in without anyone's knowledge and bought the coffee before leaving.
As soon as Sebastian got to the president's floor he knocked and opened the door before dropping the coffee on the table
"Mr White, young missus is fighting with another staff again" He reported quickly not wanting Arthur to think he would hid anything from him, it was part of his job as an assistant, to tell him anything that went amiss in his company. Sebastian thought the boss would surely be angry with his sister but Arthur's words shoched him harshly
"An intruder must be punished, bring her to my office at once!
