I spent quality time with Delilah under the open hut and instead of us to join her family at the dining table, we ate together under the open hut. It was a cozy night and the weather was perfect. Delilah and I had finished eating and we sat side by side, staring at the house for no reason.
"So how was your first day with Sonya ?" she asked. "It was strange, right ?"
"Yeah it was," I chuckled. "I'm still trying to get used to it. I don't know how long I'm going to be her bodyguard."
"Let's hope it's not too long." Delilah responded. "Let's hope that the person behind all this would be caught."
"I'm looking forward to that." I smiled. "Even though today was kind of awkward between Sonya and I, something also happened."
"What's that ?" Delilah faced me.
"I made a new friend." I answered.
"Is it a male friend or female friend ?" Delilah gave an arched eyebrow with a slight frown.
"It's a female friend of course." I chuckled. Delilah was about to react and I quickly added more details to my information. "It's Sonya's friend, Olivia. Do you know her ?"
Delilah face's metamorphosed in an emotionless one. "Yeah, I do. She comes here often to visit Sonya."
"You sound indifferent. Are you on bad terms with her ?" I asked.
"Oh no, I'm not." she answered. "I just don't speak freely with her. Especially when she's with Sonya most of the time."
"Oh I see." I mused. "This reminds me of something. Are you and Sonya on good terms now or nothing has changed ?"
Delilah looked away and shook her head slowly. "I'm not ready to bury the hatchet with her. I can't forgive her for labelling you with those filthy words."
"But I have forgiven her myself."
"I'm not trying to be a bad person here," she pointed out. "But why did you still help her ? After all that she did to you, why do you bother yourself with her ?"
"Delilah, that shouldn't even be a question." I replied. "She wronged me but it doesn't mean I should do nothing and watch her suffer. I have to help. And also remember that every time that I have saved her, someone's life was also on the line. The first time was you and the last was your father."
Delilah kept quiet for a while. "You are right and I'm sorry for what I said. Revenge is not always the answer."
"Does this mean that you are going to make things right with her ?"
"Give me some time," she said as she stood up. "I'm reconsidering it cause I'm not comfortable with the way she's going to be binded with you."
"Wait what ?"
Delilah walked out of the open hut and looked back. "Come escort me to my quarters. It's getting late and I would like to get some rest."
I stood up and went over to her. "What did you just say recently ?"
"Say what ?"
And that's how Delilah toyed around with me. She never repeated that sentence and I was thinking deeply when I left her at her quarters. I walked to mine and got in with overthinking....

The next morning, I got ready for my second day of work. I wanted to eat in the kitchen as usual but Mr Hanson called me over for breakfast with the family in the dining room and he had some important news to deliver.
"I'm sorry to announce some bad news," he began. Everyone kept quiet and listened attentively. "The armed man that was captured and sent to the hospital is...dead. Information about this got to me this morning."
There was a faint collective gasp at the table.
"How is this even possible ? How did he even die ?" Gabriel asked.
"He got stabbed fatally, multiple times." Mr Hanson answered.
"I thought the police would be guarding him. How did he get killed then ?" I added.
"I was told that the attack happened on Wednesday's dawn." Mr Hanson revealed.
"Wednesday dawn ? But that was two days ago. How is the news coming out now ?" Gabriel quizzed.
"There was no way police would be guarding someone early at dawn. The person who killed him thought of that and attacked very early in the morning. When doctors found him, they tried all they could to save him but after several hours and attempts, the armed man was declared dead last night." Mr Hanson answered.
"So does this mean that there's no way we are going to find out who is after Sonya ?" Mrs Hanson asked.
Mr Hanson nodded. "Sadly....yes."
The dining table then erupted with conversations about the situation. The only people who didn't actively talk were Delilah and Sonya herself. She just stared down as she ate her food and I wondered what was going through her head.
The news was too much for me to process at the moment, so I got up from my seat. "Excuse me, Mr Hanson. I'll be right back."
He nodded and I walked out of the dining room. Delilah followed me and we were standing in the hallway.
"What's wrong ? Are you okay ?" she queried.
I didn't answer straight away. I paced around the hallway thinking and suddenly, Mike came into view. He came over and asked the same question.
Then I responded. "The kidnapper who could have helped us find the mastermind behind this stunt is dead."
Mike watched me for a while and it seemed he was unsure of what to do.
"Kelvin, there's something important I want to tell you about that." Mike uttered.
I looked at him. "What is it, Mike ?"
He went on. "I saw the faces of the guys who wanted to kidnap Mr Hanson and lady Sonya on the news. I'm not lying to you when I say that I saw those men here at the party on Tuesday."
"What ?" Delilah and I chorused.
"I'm serious." Mike affirmed. "They were dressed the same way at the party and in the pictures from the security cameras at the agency. Meaning, they wanted to kidnap them here initially."
"How's that possible ? Who invited them to the party ?" Delilah inquired.
"I'm sorry, I don't know." Mike answered. "I'm not the one who composed the guest list."
"Wait, so you are saying that the person who helped Mr Hanson compose the guest list added the names of those guys to it, right ?" I arched an eyebrow.
"Possibly....." Mike nodded.
I walked straight towards the dining room and Delilah followed immediately. I got in and everyone focused on me, especially when I got into the room in a haste.
"Kelvin, is something wrong ?" Gabriel asked.
"Mr. Hanson, can I ask you a question ?"
"Go on." he permitted.
"Who helped you compose the guest list for Delilah's party ?"
"Oh, it was Irene that helped. Why ?" he answered.
Irene ? My guts were right about her. Something was up with her. The bad vibes I got around her were warning me about something but I couldn't figure it out early. Now, I know.
"Mr Hanson, I'm sorry to inform you that we had been harbouring a traitor in our midst." I revealed.
"A traitor ?" he repeated. "How ?"
"The kidnappers were here at the party on Tuesday and there's only one way they could have gotten here."
"Irene must have added their names to the list." Gabriel inferred.
"Meaning she's working with the orchestrator." I finalized.
"How did you figure this out ?" Mr Hanson asked curiously.
"Mike said he saw the kidnappers here at the party on Tuesday." I explained.
"I'm starting to see why she strongly insisted to compose that list." Mr Hanson mused. "Find her and bring her here immediately. Use any force necessary."
I quickly got out of the room and informed the other workers about the news. They were as equally surprised as everyone else in the dining room. We got to work and searched for Irene. Finally, we were going to catch the mastermind behind the kidnapping attempts.

Irene
I worked as an accountant for Mr Ofori at his main office. My work was pretty decent and convenient but I wanted more. I wasn't content with where I was, so I was looking for an opportunity to step up my level. As I had wished, an opportunity came knocking my door when Mr Ofori approached me with an irresistible offer.
The offer was simple. He wanted me to go undercover in the house of the millionaire, Mr Hanson and I had only one job there. That was to check on every move his daughter makes in the house. At first, I wasn't sure if I should accept the offer but when Mr Ofori increased his money and told me I would be working with his son, that changed my mind immediately.
I've always wanted to get the attention of his son but he rarely sees me at all. Well, with this offer, I can finally get a chance with him. So, I accepted the offer and Mr Ofori made some connections to link me to the job of a house worker at Mr Hanson's plush home. Gracefully, I got accepted and everything was set for me. The bonus to this offer was that, Mr Hanson would also pay me at the end of my services. How lucky I was!
When I started my undercover job at Mr Hanson's house, I noticed a few setbacks. The first was that I didn't get to spend any time with Raymond, Mr Ofori's son. Cause I was always in Mr Hanson's house and I was never ordered to move out. This made me very disappointed.
The second setback was that the job was harder than I thought. I had to work like every other house worker whiles keeping an eye on Sonya, Mr Hanson's daughter and this wasn't something easy to do.
The last was that, some of the workers already suspected that I was up to something. At first, I thought it was because I was a new worker and they were jealous or uncomfortable with me but that wasn't the case. They acted like I couldn't be trusted and I decided to give them that space they wanted. This also made me act very carefully in the house and I had to make sure I wouldn't get caught.
During the first week, I found out the true nature of the job and I wasn't expecting it at all. Mr Ofori was using me to stage a kidnapping attempt on Sonya and I didn't know why. Nevertheless, I helped deliver the information he needed to his son and I found out that, once the kidnapping was a success, I would leave the house and get my payment. I was happy to hear that. So, I was hoping that the kidnapping would be successful. Sadly, it wasn't.
I found out that someone had beaten the men who tried to kidnap Sonya and that made me frustrated. Who would do such a thing ? How ? Why ? All these questions flooded my head and I wanted to leave the house but I was asked to stay until another opportunity for a kidnap came about. So I patiently waited.
I was in my second week, still working in Mr Hanson's house and I was getting bored of it. I was thinking of running away from this whole ridiculous undercover job till I met Kelvin. He was the new house worker and I found out later that he was the new house manager.
I don't know why but when I saw him for the first time, I couldn't control myself. All I wanted to do was to get his attention and make him fall for me. I even forgot about Raymond and he became like a distant memory in the my head. I'm pretty attractive, so I thought getting Kelvin's attention would be very easy but once again, I was wrong.
Kelvin was able to resist me and he even went ahead to ignore me most of the time we were working together. I was very sad and disappointed that none of my plans worked. So, I decided to give up and leave him alone. Besides, I saw that he was interested in someone else, so what I tried before was futile.
I got back to my undercover job and when I found out about the upcoming birthday party, I knew that was a good time to strike. I spoke with Mr Ofori and I informed him of what I was going to do. I went forward with my plan and I added the names of the kidnappers to the guest list once I was done composing it.
On Tuesday, I did as I was ordered to and made sure the men were ready to strike. However, when Sonya left the house and went chasing after her father, we had a change of plans. The men followed them and I was expecting everything to be a success, so I can finally leave the house. But to my dismay, the men couldn't do anything and I found out the shocking truth—Kelvin.
Mr Hanson and Sonya returned and I wasn't expecting that. I saw that Kelvin was also injured and that made me confused and worried. When I eavesdropped on Mr Hanson's conversation with his family, I found out what happened. Kelvin was the one who saved them and I also found out that he did it the first time.
The revelation left me stunned and I didn't know what to do. The mission had failed for the second time and I was wondering what Mr Ofori would do about me. I didn't receive any calls from him that Tuesday evening and that made me worried alot.
Presently, it was a Thursday evening and as I was preparing to go to my room in the guesthouse, I found out about the death of one of the men at the hospital on the news and that got me very scared. What if I am next to be killed ? That thought made my blood cold and I decided to make a run for it. I got to my room in the guesthouse and I packed what little possessions I could carry in my handbag and I left the guesthouse in a haste.
I rushed to the gate and had to lie to the gatemen that I was on an errand. They didn't believe me at first but after more lies, they allowed me out of the house. I walked quickly on the road and minutes later, I got to the end of the junction. As I waited by the main road for a car, I got a call from Raymond and I picked up.
"Where are you ?" he asked.
I was taken aback but I answered anyway. "I just left the house and I am at the main road. Did you hear the news ? Someone is coming for us."
"I'm coming to pick you up. Don't go anywhere." he uttered.
I don't know why but I really wanted to leave. Why would Raymond want to come pick me up ? Something doesn't feel right.
I waited as he asked and he arrived at my location a few minutes later.
"Get in." he ordered and I reluctantly obeyed. He started driving and he looked very serious. "Does anyone suspect you of anything ?"
"No." I replied. "No one has any idea. I just left the house because I am scared."
"Scared of who ?"
"I don't know but someone who is after us." I replied. "I'm suspecting it to be Kelvin."
"Who is Kelvin ?"
"Kelvin is the one who sabotaged the kidnapping attempts." I revealed. "I did some investigations and found out that he once worked at a restaurant and got a job offer from Mr Hanson."
"Kelvin ?" Raymond repeated and kept quiet for a while. "Wait, is the restaurant called Gusto's ?"
"Yes." I affirmed.
Raymond frowned and nodded. "I see."
"Let's run away together and hide." I implored. "He might be onto us."
"Run away together ? What are you talking about ?" Raymond frowned. He drove into a dark street and I could barely see anyone in sight.
"Where are we going to ?" I asked.
"Get out. I want to show you something."
I got out of the car and walked forward. "Raymond, there is nothing to see her."
I turned back to face him and he pointed a gun at me. "I'm sorry, Irene. I can't leave any stone unturned."
"Wait, Raymond.....what's the meaning of this ?"
He said nothing.
"Let's talk this out, I'm..."
A loud bang rang in my head and I fell down before my eyes went out.
