Delilah
"It's graduation day!" I screamed inwardly as I opened my eyes that Wednesday morning. I yawned and stretched myself as I prepared to get out of bed. For two good reasons, I was very happy that morning.
The first reason was because of my final exam results. I received my final exam results yesterday and to my delight, I had good grades which were enough to earn me first-class. I was overjoyed and informed my parents of the results. As expected, dad said he would organise a party for me today after I'm done with the graduation.
The second reason was my favourite. Finally, Kelvin confessed his feelings to me and the two of us are now together. Even though I didn't see him yesterday when he came back from work, I didn't bother in the slightest. He must have been tired, so I left him alone. I was just happy to know that he was mine and he was for no one else.
Before I got out of bed, I checked my phone and saw that I had 3 missed calls from Sena. I decided to phone her back to see if there was an issue. She picked up seconds later.
"Good morning, Delilah." she greeted.
"Good morning." I responded.
"It's our graduation day!!!" she screamed on top of her voice and that made me move the phone far from my ears.
When she was done screaming, I place the phone back on my ears. "Why are you shouting ? Do you want to make me deaf or what ?"
She laughed casually. "I'm sorry. I am just excited we are completing our tertiary education, you know."
"I get it." I replied. "I'm just as excited as you. So why did you call ? Is there something I should know ? Or there's a problem at school ?"
"I was just checking up on you, dear." Sena explained. "When are you coming to campus ?"
I checked the time. It was three minutes to 10 o'clock. "I don't know. Maybe 10:30 I guess."
"Oh I see." she hummed.
"Wait, are you on campus right now ?" I asked.
"Yeah." she affirmed. "I'm here with my mom and my little brother and we are just chilling at the library."
"Chilling at the library ?" I repeated. "You can't be serious, Sena."
"Oh yes I am." she chuckled.
"When does the graduation ceremony start ?"
"It starts at 1pm," Sena revealed. "And it would end around 4pm. That's what I was told."
"Alright, thanks for the info." I smiled.
"You are welcome." she responded. "The other day, you called me late at night to tell—"
"Sena," I laughed. "Of all the times you could have brought this up, you chose now ? Look, I have to prepare myself to come to campus. I'll call you when I get there, okay ?"
"Oh alright." she agreed.
"When I meet you there, you can ask me all you want to know."
"No problem. See you later then." she replied.
"Cool. See you later too."
We both hanged up and I sighed afterwards. I didn't even move an inch when I receive another phone call. I checked who it was and it was mom. I picked up immediately.
"Hello mom."
"Good morning my love. How are you doing ?" she responded.
"I'm fine and you ?"
"I'm doing great honey." she said. "Are you still at home ?"
It seemed odd but I answered anyways. "Yes mom. I'm at home. Why ?"
"I'm coming home for your graduation ceremony." she revealed. "I know your father won't go with you because of his handover ceremony today, so I decided to leave work, so I can attend my baby's graduation ceremony."
"That's sweet of you, mom."
"Yes my dear. I don't want you to go there all on your own. I even want to join so we can take pictures together on this important day in your life." mom added.
"I would be looking forward to that mom." I beamed. "When will you be coming home, mom ?"
"Around 11am dear."
"I was planning to go on campus around 10:30," I sighed. "But I guess I'm going to have to wait for you then, mom."
"I hope you understand, sweetheart. I'm at Tema and I have to settle some issues before leaving too." she reasoned.
"Alright, I understand. I'll be waiting mom." I chimed.
"That's my girl." mom chuckled.
We hanged up and I got out of bed immediately. I got into the washroom and took my bath right there. I brushed my teeth and combed my hair gently. I got out afterwards and move towards my wardrobe to find something formal for school. After some minutes, I picked out some clothes and donned them in front of my mirror.
I freshened up and inspected myself, before putting on perfume all over myself. With every necessary thing taken care of, I left my quarters and moved downstairs. I was searching for Kelvin and I thought it would be hard to find him today but it turned out to be the entire opposite.
I spotted him helping out some house workers in the master living room and I called him out gently. "Kelvin....."
He turned to my direction and smiled when he saw me. "Give me a minute, guys." he said to the house workers as he walked towards me.
"What's up Lyla ? How are you doing this morning ?" he asked.
"I'm faring well and you ?"
"I'm good. Today's your graduation ceremony." he announced. "I'm so happy for you."
He pulled me in for a hug and I clutched onto him tightly. "Thanks very much. I wish you could go with me but you can't..."
We separated and Kelvin smiled. "Don't worry, I'll try my best to attend your graduation. I still feel bad that you would be going alone."
"I'm not going alone." I told him. "My mom would be going with me. If you come to the ceremony, you will see her."
Kelvin face changed. "Oh I see."
"Don't tell me you are scared of my mom." I eyed him. "She's not scary at all."
"Don't mind me." he chuckled. "I'll still come anyways. I'm very sure of that."
"You better." I laughed.
"By the way, you look very enthralling and enchanting." he smirked. "You are going to make the other ladies jealous of your looks."
I blushed and laughed a little. "You are equally enchanting too. Too bad we couldn't go to campus together. We would look very majestic. Don't you think ?"
"I do." he smiled. "Either ways, we would still meet on campus. I just remembered of Hannah. Do your best to find her at campus."
"I will." I responded and I looked back at the decorations Kelvin was helping the house workers with. "I can see you were busy."
"Yeah." he scratched his head. "I'm helping my friends out on the upcoming party your father is organising for you today. I want it to be as good as the last time, you know."
"Very well then, I don't want to keep you away from your work, so I'll be going to eat now." I announced.
"Alright then. See you later, babe." he replied.
I smiled. "See you later too."
He walked back to the house workers and continued helping them out whiles I made my way to the dining room, smiling widely like someone who had won a jackpot.
He called me "babe" again. I couldn't keep up with the excitement. I wanted to kiss him again but I guess we couldn't do that because we were out in the hallway. I don't know but I was shy on making the first move. I cleared those thoughts as I got to the dining room. There are other things I should be focused on. There's no time for trivial issues cause today is going to be my day. I could feel it.

As ordered, the house workers in the Hanson household got to work towards setting up the party and they were extra careful about it. This time, the number of people attending the party had decreased to 60 guests and the guest list was checked twice to make sure there weren't any strange names on the list. Security was tight this time round and they were alert for anything that would come their way.
It was still morning that day and Kelvin was helping out his friends in setting up the decorations in the master living room. Even though he wasn't the house manager anymore, Francis and Mike treated him as such. As they were working out on the decorations, George and the chefs were cooking various dishes that would be served at the party. They found the work easier since there were few guests attending the party this time round.
Lilian and Favour were sweeping the hallways and they were also tidying up some parts of the house. Everyone was busy doing their part and they all put in their best. In the master living room, the trio were done with the decorations and Kelvin stepped aside to appreciate the beauty of the room.
"It looks good." he commented. "Just like last time."
"My guy has good eyes." Francis faced Mike. "He knows the fine things to choose."
"What are you talking about, Francis ?" Kelvin eyed him.
"Stop acting like you don't know what I'm talking about." Francis smirked. "You have good eyes, bro."
"I'm seriously lost." Kelvin looked puzzled.
"Must we tell you everything ?" Francis laughed. "There are some things you should understand quickly."
Kelvin faced Mike. "Do you know what he's talking about ?"
Before Mike could speak, Francis interrupted. "There's no reason to ask Mike. Just think about it. You will understand what I mean."
Kelvin sighed. "There's no time for goofing off now. Let's start setting up the sound system."
The three of them went for the sound system and started setting it up in the master living room. They set some part of it at various points in the hallways and they were finally working on the finishing touches.
"Alright. Francis, go turn on the system in the living room and let's see if it works well here." Kelvin suggested.
"No problem." Francis obliged.
He walked away and went to the living room to turn on the sound system. When he left, Kelvin focused on Mike.
"Mike, what was Francis talking about ?"
Mike chuckled before answering. "He's talking about miss Hanson."
"Miss Hanson ?" Kelvin echoed. "Who exactly ?"
"Uhm, Mr Hanson's daughter." he answered.
"That's not helpful. Which of them ?"
"I think he is talking about miss Delilah." Mike mused.
"Wha—"
Francis turned on the sound system and used the microphone to speak, which cut off Kelvin from uttering his words. Kelvin kept quiet and waited for Francis to stop speaking through the microphone. After some few words, Francis turned the sound system off and came back to where Mike and Kelvin were.
"How was it ? Does it work here perfectly ?" Francis asked.
Mike was rubbing his ears due to how loud the sound was from the speaker. "It worked perfectly, thanks."
"Francis," Kelvin called. "Were you talking about Mr Hanson's daughter ?"
"Finally," Francis laughed. "You get it."
"So what does she have to do with what you said about my good eyes ?"
"It's self-explanatory. You have good eyes, that's why you are with her." Francis explained.
"You can't be serious." Kelvin chuckled. "So this is what it's all about ?"
"Don't get me wrong but I've seen you two together most of the time." Francis went on. "You two have become inseparable. You even forgot about us."
"Forgot about you guys ?" Kelvin rephrased. "Since when ? I still talk to you guys. Just like how I am doing it now."
"It's different than before. You only talk to us when you have to but in your free time, you are somewhere else." Francis stated.
"That's partly.....not true." Kelvin defended. "Back me on this one, Mike ?"
"He's right." Mike spoke up. "Even though you've limited your time with us, it's nothing serious. You are happy with her and there's nothing we should complain about as your friends. It's that simple."
"So you noticed too ?" Kelvin asked.
"Of course." Mike laughed. "I'm very observant you know."
"Of course you are." Francis said sarcastically.
"There's something I've been meaning to ask you, Kelvin." Mike faced him. "It's about.... you-know-who and I hope you are okay with me asking you that question."
"I'm not bothered in the least. Lay it on me." Kelvin agreed.
"Alright." Mike sighed. "To be honest with you, I thought you were with miss Sonya at first. Did something happen ?"
Kelvin was taken aback. "Whoa whoa whoa..... where's that coming from ?"
"Yeah." Francis joined in. "I had that same thought too."
"Seriously Mike, what gave you that thought ?" Kelvin quizzed. "Didn't you see that Sonya wasn't on friendly terms with me ? And it was just recently that we became friends."
"Still," Mike insisted. "It seemed you and Sonya had something going and you guys were hiding it from the rest of us."
"How ?" Kelvin started to feel uneasy.
"Remember the first day you came here ?" Mike inquired.
"Yeah, I do. What about it ?"
"I was showing you around and when we got to the poolside behind the house, you were shocked and stunned to see miss Sonya. Do you remember that ?" Mike narrated.
"Yes. I remember." Kelvin agreed. "But it doesn't prove.....no.....no. It's not what you think."
"So they were indeed hiding their affair ?" Francis laughed.
"No one was hiding anything. You guys wouldn't understand anything till I tell you about how Sonya and I met the first time." Kelvin explained.
"You sure ?" Mike questioned.
"I'm serious." Kelvin nodded. "I'm not having an affair and I don't plan on having one. Look, we need to go get some refreshments. I can tell you what happened between Sonya and I when we first met if that's what you guys want."
"Let's go then." Mike agreed as he started his journey back to the living room.
"So does that mean that you are not with miss Sonya ?" Francis smirked. "Are you really with miss Delilah ?"
"Let's focus on our work." Kelvin walked ahead of Francis.
"Just tell me already." Francis implored.
Kelvin and his friends continued their work and they went in for the refreshments. They helped the other house workers in completing the set up of the party and by 12pm, everything was set. Kelvin was tired and worn out. He tried searching for Delilah but he later realized that she had gone to her graduation ceremony.
Kelvin then moved to his room and took his bath. He dressed up and got ready for work. The handover ceremony would begin soon and he was informed to wait for Sonya at 12:30. Time was approaching quick and Kelvin was set to follow Sonya to her ceremony. He stood outside for her by the car and a few minutes later, Sonya came out of the house looking radiant and beautiful. It was enough to make Kelvin stare at her in awe but he regained his composure and patiently waited for her...
