Sonya
Right when I thought today would be one of the greatest days in my life, something had to ruin it for me. I honestly didn't consider Raymond as one of the main suspects because I thought he was finally over me and has moved on but when he presented himself in the office and revealed it was him, I wasn't surprised until he pulled out his gun.
When he pointed his gun at me, I was unprepared to die. I was hoping someone would come to our aid and save us. Where's Kelvin ? He was supposed to be guarding me but right when I needed him the most today, he was nowhere to be found. Raymond smiled as he pointed his gun at me and all of a sudden, he pulled the trigger twice...
BANG! BANG!!
I expected to bullets to hit me on the spot but then, someone pushed me out of the way and stood in my position. I fell on the ground and when I turned to see who had been shot, it was Olivia. She had laid her life for me.
"Olivia!!!" I screamed as I saw her fall down.
"Oops." Raymond laughed manically. "That wasn't meant to happen. But I don't really care cause I didn't ask her to step in your way. I came here for one thing and that's to kill you."
He pointed his gun at me, who laid on the floor.
"I'm not going to miss you this time round." he quipped.
Just as he was about to pull the trigger, dad left his desk and shielded me on the floor whiles exposing his back to Raymond.
"What's this ?" Raymond arched an eyebrow. "Do you want to die old man ?"
"I'm not going to let you kill my daughter," dad said. "I'm will also lay downy life for her if it's the last thing I will do. I will die soon anyways, so it doesn't matter."
"Dad no!" I tried to protest. "Don't do this."
"Fine. If that's what you wish for, then so be it." Raymond cocked his gun, ready to shoot.
Just as I tried to push dad off me, we heard someone enter the room and when we both checked, Kelvin had tackled Raymond on the ground. Kelvin sat on Raymond's stomach as he started punching Raymond's face in a fit of rage. I saw Raymond's gun on the floor, so I pushed dad off me and I kicked the gun away.
"You!" Kelvin exclaimed as he kept on punching Raymond's nose. "You are a murderer!"
Raymond's nose became red and he was bleeding profusely. Raymond tried to retaliate but Kelvin held him back.
"You are going to rot in jail!" Kelvin declared as he continued with the assault.
"Kelvin that's enough." dad held him back. "Someone has been shot. She needs medical help. Quick."
Kelvin got up from Raymond and wiped his knuckles from the stain of blood he had on them. He came over to Olivia whose head was on my lap as I checked her temperature.
"How long has she been shot ?" Kelvin asked me.
The gunshot noise and our shouting had attracted the attention of the workers and they all came to stand in front of the office to find out what was going on. When they saw Raymond's bloody face, Olivia's shot body and the gun on the floor, everyone gasped in horror.
"About two minutes ago." I answered.
"Call 911, fast." Kelvin ordered me. Kelvin faced the people standing in front of the office. "Does anyone have a clean towel please ?"
Someone came forward and gave Kelvin the towel. Kelvin used the towel to apply pressure on the wound to stop the bleeding. He watched Olivia as he did that and her face was as stiff as before and she was barely breathing.
"Let's get her outside as soon as possible." Kelvin faced the volunteer. They carried Olivia by holding her limbs and they made their way to leave the office. Kelvin spoke to the men in the crowd. "Some of you should please apprehend that fool. He's the murderer. Make sure he doesn't escape."
The men obliged and held Raymond back. Dad used gloves to put the gun in a folder and called the police on the issue. I went after Kelvin outside and some group of workers followed us. Kelvin and the volunteer placed Olivia on someone's car hood and Kelvin continued to apply pressure on her wounds.
Just as expected, the police sirens filled the area as two police cars pulled up at the textile company. An ambulance soon appeared and the duo carried Olivia fast towards the ambulance. The paramedics took Olivia into the ambulance and Kelvin joined in. I forced my way in too and dad was by my side.
The paramedics did what they could to stop the bleeding and stabilize Olivia's health but from the looks on their faces, it seemed things weren't looking good. I was worried and on the verge of crying but I kept myself together. Quickly, we got to the hospital and Olivia was swiftly sent to the emergency room. We waited for any updates on Olivia's health from the doctors and it took a while before one of them showed up.
A doctor came to inform us of the news in the waiting room. We all stood and went forward to him. His face was unreadable, and I couldn't tell from his face what happened to Olivia.
"I'm going to be straightforward and I hope you don't take this news with a heavy heart." the doctor finally spoke.
"Go ahead." we anticipated.
"She didn't make it." the doctor announced.
"Please tell me this is not true." a tear fell from my eye. "She has to make it."
"I wish that was the case." the doctor sighed. "But she didn't make it. She lost too much blood and went into a state of shock. There was nothing we could do about it. I'm sorry to be the bearer of such tragic news. I hope you all find solace during these bad times."
"No...." I shook my head as tears fell from my face. "This isn't happening. I must be in a dream. Someone please wake me up."
"I'm sorry. I'll take my leave now." the doctor bowed and left the waiting room.
The three of us sat back down and that's when I started crying uncontrollably. The tears wouldn't just stop falling. Why did Olivia take my place ? It's so unjust and unfair. I should have been the one not her. Kelvin also shed some tears but he was quiet about it. My dad sat next to me and was consoling me. After some minutes of crying, Kelvin came to me.
"I'm sorry for your loss," he sympathised. "I wish I was there to protect you guys but I was busy elsewhere. I hope you will forgive me."
"It's not your fault..." I sniffed. "I don't blame you.... it's Raymond!"
"Speaking of Raymond, have you seen my phone ?" he asked. "I want to call and find out about the arrest of Raymond. I want to be sure he's apprehended."
I wiped my tears and handed him his phone. He took it from me and when he started using it, his face turned into a frown.
"Sonya!" he fumed. "What did you do with my phone ? What did you tell her ?"
"Kelvin, I can explain." I sniffed. "It's not what I meant to do....."
"Not what you meant to do ?" Kelvin exclaimed. "Do you know what you have done ? I thought we agreed to keep quiet about it ?"
"Please..."
"I don't want to hear anything from you again. I don't want to ever see you again. What kind of person are you ?" Kelvin frowned. "I thought we could be friends but you stabbed me in the back and you aren't ashamed. I'm disgusted I was once friends with you."
"Kelvin, please listen to me....." Kelvin walked away and didn't turn back to hear me out at all.
This day can't get any worse. I just lost my friend and now I've lost another. I should have just listened to Olivia and control myself. Now I've messed everything up.....
.
Kelvin
"So you slept with her. Is that what you were hiding ?"
"I can't believe you. Why did you hide this from me ? You are a shameless."
"I don't ever want to see your face ever again."
When I saw these messages on my phone, I was puzzled to the core but when I realized that my phone had been with Sonya, I connected the dots together.
I can't believe Sonya would lie to Delilah that I slept with her. I didn't even sleep with her, we just had a kiss and it was under the influence of alcohol. Yet, Sonya decided to ruin things by lying to Delilah and it's all for what ?
After giving Sonya a piece of my mind, I stormed out of the hospital before she could follow me. I tried calling Delilah using the number she texted me with but the number was switched off. I waited by the roadside for a taxi and one showed up soon enough.
I wanted to go to the university to search for Delilah but I decided to go check up on Raymond first, so I got in the taxi and made my way to the textile company. I got there minutes later and met Serena at the entrance.
"What happened after I left ? Did the police arrest Raymond ?" I asked.
"Yes and thanks for helping me catch him." Serena replied.
"I'm still surprised you snitched on him even though you are his girlfriend." I commented.
"In as much as I am his girlfriend, I can't sit down and watch him kill someone. That's why I decided to reveal his plans." Serena explained.
"That's a good thing you did." I responded. "So where is Raymond now ?"
"He is now on his way to the police station and the police are now after his father." Serena answered. "You guys can press charges against them later on."
"Don't worry. Mr Hanson will take care of that soon enough." I nodded. "So what now for you ?"
"I will be going home now. Thanks for everything." Serena smiled.
"I should rather be saying thank you instead. You've helped us catch the perpetrator. Have a good day then."
"Same to you as well."
Serena walked away and I sighed in relief. Now that I know that Raymond has been apprehended, I can move on to the next issue. I moved to the roadside and waited for another taxi to pass by. Whiles I waited, I tried calling Delilah but her number was still switched off. I then called Hannah to know if she was with Delilah. Hannah picked up immediately.
"Hannah," I called out. "Are you with Delilah ?"
"That's what I was about to ask you, Kelvin." Hannah replied. "I was just about to call you. Is she with you ?"
"No," I shook my head. "If she was with me, I wouldn't have been calling to ask if she was with you."
"She's not with me as well."
"What ? When last did you see her" I asked.
"After a phone call, her eyes were filled with tears and she told me she was going to the washroom." Hannah narrated. "Afterwards, I haven't seen her since. I and her mother have been searching for her since and her phone has also switched off."
"This is bad." I commented with fear.
"Bro, what did you do to her ? Is there something happening that I need to know ?"
"Hannah, I will talk to you later about this. If she's not on campus, I'm going to check her house. I will call you later, okay ?" I declared.
"Okay. Call me when you find her."
"I will...."
We hanged up and I continued to wait for a car. Minutes later, I got into one and got to the house. I quickened my steps towards the main house and when I got there, I forgot all about the party for Delilah.
Right in front of me, a few guests were talking around as music was being played on the speakers. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their time and no one even noticed me enter the master living room. I walked around searching for Delilah but she wasn't in the room. No surprise there.
I rushed into the hallway and I met my two friends. They were surprised to see me in as much as I was surprised to also meet them.
"Kelvin, you look like you've been running for ages. What's the rush ?" Francis chuckled.
"Have any of you seen Delilah ?" I asked quickly.
"Looks like someone is in a haste to meet someone special...." Francis smirked.
"I'm serious." I fired. "Have any of you seen her ?"
"No." they chorused.
"Take a chill pill, bro." Mike tried to calm down. "Is there a problem ?"
I walked past them. "I'm going to look for her. If you see her, please inform me."
"Okay." Mike said.
I started searching in the rooms downstairs but there was no signs of Delilah. I checked on the first floor and I was hoping to see her in the bar room but she wasn't even there. My last option was the second floor and that's where I went. I rushed to her quarters and started knocking at her door. There was no response and that got me anxious.
I don't normally invade into people's privacy but I didn't care this time round. I tried opening her door and surprisingly, it was open. I entered and searched for her in her quarters but I still couldn't find her at all. I left her room with guilt and disappointment on my face. Why has she gone to ? There wasn't any other place else I could think of. She could be anywhere.
"I don't ever want to see your face ever again."
Those words rang in my head and I felt more guilt and pain in my heart. All of this was my fault. If I had just told Delilah of the kiss, none of this would have happened. Now, I have lost the woman of my dreams and there's nothing else I can do about it.
I moved to my quarters and started packing up my things. The perpetrator behind the kidnapping has been caught, so I no longer need to be anyone's bodyguard. Mike is currently the house manager and I'm not planning on taking over. Delilah doesn't want to see me anymore and for all these reasons, I figured the best thing I do is leave Mr Hanson's house and never show my face to them ever again. I've done enough damage and it's time to leave everything behind.
After packing everything I owned, I carried my luggages downstairs and I made my way towards the exit of the house.
"Where are you going, Kelvin ?" Mike stopped me in my tracks.
"Isn't it obvious ? I'm leaving the house for good." I faked a smile.
"Why ? What have you done wrong ?"
"The person behind the kidnapping has been caught. I'm no longer needed here." I explained.
"You were here to be a house manager, why don't you take back your job ?" Mike offered.
"Don't bother." I responded. "You can have the job. It's what you wanted. I'm going home now. See you later and send my regards to everyone else."
I walked past Mike and got out of the main house. I called a driver and seconds later, a car pulled up in front of the main house. I looked back at the main house one more time, before entering the car that drove me out of the house once and for all....
