"Bachelorette party from who ?" mom inquired.
"Cammy." Sonya answered. "It's been a long time since I have heard from her."
"Cammy is getting married soon ?" Gabriel quizzed.
"Yeah. That's why she's inviting me to her bachelorette party." Sonya replied.
"Will you be going dear ?" mom asked her.
"What if it's a trap from the one who wants to kidnap you...." Gabriel suggested.
"Stop saying ominous things." Giovanna eyed Gabriel.
"He has a point." Dad supported. "It could be a trap in disguise."
"It's a bachelorette party," Sonya chipped in. "There are barely going to be any men there."
"Have you wondered if the person after you is not a man but a woman ?" mom faced Sonya.
"Fair point." Sonya nodded. "But Kelvin is going with me to the party for protection. There is no need to worry."
"Are you sure ?" dad asked.
And that's how my sister stole Kelvin away from me and all the plans I had with Kelvin were now cancelled because of some bachelorette party my sister was going to attend.
Lately, it has been boring without Kelvin in the house and I had plans with him. However, it's not going to be possible if he is going with my sister to her party. I was unhappy that Kelvin wouldn't be around tomorrow's evening but there was nothing I could do. I just have to spend good time with him tomorrow before he goes with Sonya to her bachelorette party.
I studied Sonya as she suggested that Kelvin would follow her to the party. She seemed happy and that was strange. This is not the same Sonya I know. The Sonya I know wouldn't want to be around Kelvin. She would even refuse to go to the party, just to avoid Kelvin. But no, Sonya was happy that she was going with Kelvin and something was suspicious.
Kelvin didn't eat with us that evening, so I couldn't confront him. After dinner, I searched for him but he was nowhere to be found. I wanted to knock at his door but I felt that I might be interrupting him or something, so I decided to wait for tomorrow.
* * *
It was Saturday and I was looking forward to meeting Kelvin. At breakfast, he didn't show up. I guessed he was eating in the kitchen or his room. I wanted to go look for him but my dad reminded me of Gabriel and I had to follow them. The whole family sat in various cars and we were driven to the airport. We spent almost 2 hours at the airport just because mom didn't want to let Gabriel go.
Finally, mom let go of Gabriel and Giovanna and they were on their way back to Italy. The journey back home was a quiet one and I'm sure it's because of Sonya and I. My parents know how a small conversation without Gabriel can trigger an argument, so they decided to just keep quiet than to risk anything.
When we got home, searching for Kelvin was the first thing on my mind and that's what I did. I searched through the building and to my relief, I found him in the library. When he saw me, he smiled as I joined him at his table.
"How are you doing ?" he asked.
"Good. And you ?"
"I'm fine by his grace." he replied.
"I just escorted Gabriel to the airport and now I'm back." I informed.
"Gabriel is gone ?" he queried. "Too bad I couldn't say bye to him."
"Don't worry," I smiled. "I already did that for you."
"Thanks very much. So how was your yesterday ? We didn't spend much time together yesterday."
"Yeah. It was kind of boring." I responded. "What about you ? How was your day with Sonya ? Was it bad ?"
Kelvin narrated what happened yesterday between him and Sonya and I wasn't expecting it at all. Sonya all of a sudden started to apologize to Kelvin ? That sounded strange to me and I wasn't happy about it either.
"What's wrong ?" Kelvin asked after he was done narrating.
"This sounds bizzare." I commented. "Sonya isn't like this. Something is up."
"She just apologized." Kelvin chuckled. "It's not like she was forced to. It was a sincere apology and she was serious about. I'm just glad we don't have problems anymore."
"I'm still skeptical about it." I frowned. "Don't fall for her pretense. It might be all an act."
"Lyla, you don't have to say that about your sister. She has changed, okay ?"
I looked away and folded my hands. "Just be careful with her. She can be up to something."
Kelvin smiled. "Don't worry. I'm prepared for anything from her. But like I said, she has changed."
I looked at him. "As you are going to the party, be careful and be alert."
"Don't worry about me," he replied. "I'll do my best to keep both of us safe."
I sighed deeply and dug into my pocket. I took out a sheet of paper and I gave it out to Kelvin. "Here. This is for you."
Kelvin took the paper, unfolded it and stared at it for a while. He stood up to read it clearly and I joined him. He started pacing around in the room and then, he exclaimed all of a sudden.
"Lyla! When did you do all of this ?"
"Just yesterday." I shrugged.
Excited with what he saw, Kelvin carried me and swirled around in happiness. "Thank you so much."
He swirled us around for a few seconds before putting me down after realising what he had done. "I'm sorry for carrying you without your consent. I was too excited about the news."
I smiled. "Don't worry. I understand."
"Thanks." he sighed. "This is still wild. I finally got accepted to an electronic company. But I can't work now if I'm still your sister's bodyguard."
"Don't fret," I assured. "I explained everything to them and you can start work anytime you want. So when you stop being her bodyguard, you can go work there if you want."
"Thank you again." he smiled and he pulled me in for a hug. "I hope this is fine with you."
I smiled sheepishly. "Of course."
Getting Kelvin his dream job was something I planned recently and I'm delighted that it worked out. Seeing Kelvin smile gracefully made my heart melt in awe. We stood in the library, hugging each other and I wished that moment would never end...

The evening soon arrived and the weather was calm. In the Hanson's household, Sonya gets ready for the party as she applies heavy makeup on her face. She wore a fancy straight dress that was slightly tight. She sprayed herself with her finest cologne and perfumes, before inspecting herself in the mirror.
Downstairs, Olivia and Kelvin waited for Sonya at the car. Olivia had also been invited to the party and she was going with Sonya. Minutes later, Sonya came downstairs and got out of the house, walking majestically like a bride.
"Look at her," Olivia chuckled. "Hurry up and let's go. Stop walking like a pregnant model."
"Silly girl." Sonya laughed as she quickened her steps.
She got to the car and Kelvin opened the door for both of them. He also sat in the front seat and they were off to the party. The party was at Cammy's house, so that's where they went. The drive was a long one and the trio had a casual chat in the car. After some minutes, they finally arrived at Cammy's.
She had a luxury house, such as Mr Hanson's but it wasn't as spectacular. The driver drove into the house and parked the car in the lot. Kelvin opened the door for both ladies and they got out of the car gracefully. The trio walked towards the house and knocked on the door. Seconds later, the main lady herself opened the door.
"Look who it is," she exclaimed. "If it isn't the famous sisters, Sonya and Olivia. Welcome you guys."
Olivia and Sonya exchanged hugs with Cammy. "It's been a long time since we've actually contacted each other." Olivia quipped.
"Yeah. I thought you left the country. Now look, you are here about to get married." Sonya added.
Cammy blushed in embarrassment. "I did leave the country for a while, that's why we lost contact but hey, I met my man there and we are planning to get married here."
"Who's that unfortunate soul ?" Sonya joked.
"Shut up." Cammy laughed. "It's just a Ghanaian guy I met abroad. His name is Jackson."
"Yeah, we don't know him." Sonya and Olivia chorused.
"Speaking of which," Cammy replied. "Who is that over there ?"
They all faced Kelvin.
"Oh, he's my personal bodyguard." Sonya answered. "Is there any problem ?"
"This is a bachelorette party. No men allowed you know." Cammy reminded.
"You have to make this exception for us." Olivia implored. "Kelvin over here is protecting Sonya from some bad people. It's actually a long story. We'll tell you later."
Cammy eyed Kelvin for a while. "Alright. You all should come in. Sorry for keeping you waiting at the door. The party has already started."
They all walked in the house and Cammy closed the door shut. Here in the house, it was decorated with balloons, banners, photo booth, streamers and floral arrangements. Most importantly, there were about two dozen of young women at the party and they were dancing to the music being played by the DJ. There were drinks of all kind and a section where food was served. The party was all in all a spectacular one to see.
The trio with Cammy walked into the living room, where the party was mainly held and as they appeared, the women faced them. Specifically, they focused on Kelvin first before looking at Sonya and Olivia.
When they realized that Olivia and Sonya had arrived, a few of them swooped in to hug the two of them. They were classmates back in high school and they had finally reunited with their old friends. They carried the two of the them to the center and introduced themselves to the other women.
Kelvin having nothing to do, just left the living room and stood in the veranda outside. A lady approached Cammy at the party.
"Who was that guy ?" she asked.
"That's Kelvin," Cammy replied. "And I was told he's a bodyguard protecting Sonya."
"Are you comfortable with him being in the party ?" the lady asked.
"I don't really mind. He can join us at the party."
"Where is he then ?"
The two of them searched around but they couldn't find Kelvin. They checked outside and found him at the veranda, looking around the house.
"Kelvin ?" Cammy called out. "Won't you be joining us at the party ? It's really cold outside."
"I was told it was strictly for women." Kelvin responded. "There's no need for me to join you ladies. And thanks for your concern but I'm doing fine here."
"Come on," the other lady insisted. "Don't bother yourself and be out here alone. Come inside and just relax."
"I don't think that will be a good idea." Kelvin politely refused.
"You can't be protecting Sonya if you are outside you know," Cammy reminded. "Just come inside so you can keep an eye on her."
That last sentence seemed to knock some sense into Kelvin. So, he finally agreed with them and followed them into the house.
Kelvin joined them at the party and sat on the sofa whiles monitoring what goes on at the party. A few women approached Kelvin and sat with him to engage him in a conversation whiles the other ladies danced with each other to the music that filled the house with energy.
Olivia and Sonya were sitting with Cammy and other friends at the far side of the living room. They were all drinking heavily and catching up on old times. They talked about various topics and soon, their conversation shifted to Kelvin.
"Seriously Sonya," Cammy laughed. "Where did you get that hot bodyguard from ?"
"It's a long story." Sonya shrugged with a smile. "I don't even know where to start from."
"Tell us everything!" a friend named Tori demanded. "We're listening."
Persuaded by her friends, Sonya narrated how Kelvin became her bodyguard. She told them how he saved her two times and accepted the offer to be her bodyguard.
"Damn," another lady, Margaret, commented. "That was some experience you went through."
"So you haven't found out who wanted to kidnap you ?" Cammy asked.
"No." Sonya answered. "Not yet. The investigations are still ongoing."
"Forget the investigation," Tori chipped in. "Is your bodyguard single ?"
"What ?" Sonya almost spilled out her alcohol. "Yes. He's single. Why are you asking ?"
"I'm going to try my luck with him." Tori replied.
"Don't try that." Sonya warned. "It's not a good idea. Trust me."
"Why are you saying that ?" Cammy asked.
"I think she wants to keep her bodyguard all to herself." Margaret explained.
"So someone is in love with her bodyguard." Olivia teased. Sonya gave her a serious eye. "What ?" Olivia shrugged as she sipped her alcohol.
"So are you keeping him or not ?" Tori asked with a smile. "Come on, tell me so I wouldn't overstep your boundaries."
"You all should leave me alone." Sonya sipped her drink. "I'm not saying anything about him again."
"There are already ladies swarming around him." Cammy laughed and hiccuped. "Be here and be pretending, whiles other ladies steal him away."
The group of girls laugh as Sonya frowns when she realises what they say is true. The party goes on and it gets wilder each hour. There were wild dances, more drinking and the ladies were playing around with each other on the dance floor. The bachelorette party lived up to its expectation. Almost all the ladies got drunk. Sonya herself got drunk and she couldn't go to Kelvin because of her friends.
However, the party ended at 11pm and when Kelvin realized how late Sonya and Olivia were, he decided to take them home. It was harder than he thought cause Olivia and Sonya couldn't walk well on their own. They were too drunk to do so and Kelvin was a little drunk also. Nevertheless, he had to carry them to the car by himself and when he was done, the driver took off.
The driver first stopped at Olivia's house and she was able to walk into her house on her own. The driver continued and finally, they got home. Sonya still couldn't walk well on her own, so Kelvin walked with her to support her steadily. Using the elevator, they got to the second floor and finally, Sonya's quarters.
When Kelvin let go of Sonya, she fell on the ground and started talking gibberish. "Hey...hella meee. See me.... climb....fish ponnnnddd flyyyy...hahaha."
"Can't you walk to your room ?" Kelvin quizzed.
"Bzzzzzzzzzz...." Sonya replied with a laugh.
Kelvin sighed and carried Sonya in his arms. He enters her quarters and walks towards her bedroom with careful steps.
Sonya stared at him. "Where....going....we ?"
"Sonya, why did you drink so much ?" Kelvin asked rhetorically. "I didn't know you were heavy like this."
Kelvin endured and carried Sonya in careful steps as he made his way towards her bedroom. He almost dropped Sonya on two occasions but lucky, he held onto her strongly and didn't let go at all.
As Kelvin finally got to the bedroom, he moved towards her bed and stumbled again. Sonya fell from his hands but Kelvin managed to catch her before she hit the ground. They were in an awkward position and their eyes were locked together. They stared at each other for seconds and before they knew it, they were locking lips with each other.
Sonya wrapped her hands around his neck as they passionately kissed each other deeply. She was enjoying it and didn't want to end anytime soon. Everything seemed to stop around her and the feeling was like something she had never felt before.
When seconds had passed after the kiss, Kelvin broke away from Sonya and placed her on her bed gently. Sonya smiled and waited for Kelvin to continue but she was startled and confused when she saw Kelvin leave her room. Feeling limp, Sonya just laid on her bed as Kelvin exited her quarters...
