Chereads / To Duel With Asura Means Death / Chapter 7 - Sun Festival (Part 1)

Chapter 7 - Sun Festival (Part 1)

Asura stood and stared at the imps that were all too busy trying to decorate his zone in accordance with the event. There would not be many decorations put up however due to the event not being Halloween and his zone would not be used as the default gathering hub for the duration of the event. His zone would become the final stage for the event however, so they were required to at least put up some decorations.

He could make some job about being the Grinch, but he felt like he was going to be that for this year's Christmas event.

It was amusing to watch the imps carry a pillow that was basically ten times the length and width of them, though that was the particular reason why there were even so many of them in the first place. The imps were strong and very obedient too, traits that he loved in his subordinates.

"Move that there." He shouted out to a group of imps that were moving around the tricked chests.

They obeyed, quickly putting down it in the typical spot that a regular chest would spawn. It could easily be mistaken for a regular chest too, if the players did not have any skills or items that allowed them to see through disguises and tricks.

One good thing about having events is that he had a good reason to spruce up his zone, or it would just look like another typical cursed castle, which was boring enough in itself.

He hummed, checking out all of the areas within his zone to make sure that the layout and decorations were to his liking. The mimics, the false traps, the fake platforms... All of the little tricks and designs he decided to use to make everything just a bit more fun.

"I wonder who is going to be the poor damsel in distress that lost their sun." He chuckled, already looking forward to acting out the stealing.

The events do have exclusive and special cutscenes that just basically depict what happened that led to the NPC needing the players' help. Although that also meant that they basically are forced to act out the scenario, then it would play through the players' system windows, just like an actual cutscene.

It was just that since occasionally some events, like this one, would require a NPC to act like an idiot, it was very possible for the NPC to be mistaken for something they were not.

And the unlucky candidate for the NPC that was supposed to be guarding the sun was Paladin.

To be more exact, it was Paladin and his subordinates, which were other soldiers that worshiped God.

Asura only knew that it was Paladin and his men when he was teleported to a new area that was constructed for the event. The long blonde-haired man was visibly angry, standing in a way that showed off his shiny claymore that shone even brighter under the sunlight. His white cape swayed with his slightly exaggerated shrug, his armor looked shinier than usual, at least in Asura's eyes.

"I can't believe it! To lose the sun to a demon like you!" Paladin shouted.

Asura felt his body move on its own, his lips parting to speak when he was not completely expecting it, "Well well, maybe you should try harder in training your men so your precious sun won't get stolen."

They both knew that they were currently under the complete control of the system even if they have not yet started to act out the scenario.

The scenario took place in a church, looking just like any other typical church from the outside, only that the floors and ceiling reflected the hue of the sun. The colored mirror murals within the church also reflected the different hues of the sun that was visible to the human eye.

It was still a standard interior church set up, though there was a statue of a masked woman holding up a bright, glowing orange orb within her hands.

[DEMON KING: "Ah... What a beautiful sight to behold, something so beautiful and so tempting being held in another's hands."]

[PALADIN: "You! What are you doing here?!"]

[DEMON KING: "Oh, can't I just be visiting a church?"]

[PALADIN: "Demons like you don't belong in such a holy place! And you're definitely up to no good."]

[DEMON KING: smirks "Oh, why must you say such a thing, believer? I feel deeply pained that your impression of me is so terrible."]

[Just as [PALADIN] speaks again, he notices the orb's light starting to dim. He immediately glares at the [DEMON KING], quickly unsheathing his blade.]

[PALADIN: "How dare you sully the Holy Goddess of the Sun!"]

[DEMON KING: "Maybe next time, you should think twice about leaving such an important place unguarded."]

[The [DEMON KING] leaves, his laughter resonated within the church.]

The moment they were not controlled by the system, Paladin immediately tried to stab Asura. His attack was dodged easily however, having been telegraphed by Asura the moment he realized that Paladin was going to be the poor, useless NPC.

Well, they did need some reason for the event to happen. Even if that reason seemed a little haphazardly thrown together, like homework that needed to be handed in the next day yet there was not even a single word written on the paper.

"Maybe you won't be the one getting something stolen from them at the next event." He winked, which only made Paladin angrier.

"You little..." He managed to hold back the urge to curse, despite how close he came to slipping up.

"Have fun~" Asura waved at him and his men as he was getting teleported back to his zone.

[THE WORLD HAS FALLEN INTO ETERNAL DARKNESS DUE TO THE ORB BEING STOLEN BY [DEMON KING].]

[PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO WORK TOGETHER TO SEARCH FOR THE LOCATION OF THE ORB, AS WELL AS DEFEATING THE [DEMON KING].]

[EVENT DURATION: 720:00:00]

[REWARDS WILL BE CALCULATED ONCE THE PLAYERS HAVE DEFEATED THE [DEMON KING].]
