How hard was the event going to be?
Nobody expected the event to be any harder than the events they had last year, the hardest of which was the Christmas event since there was a surprise boss that basically came out of nowhere and had some new mechanics that nobody knew about at first.
It was the most unfair the 'game' had been up until that point.
[CRITERIA TO ENTER EVENT:
LEVEL 20 AND ABOVE
HAVE A ROLE CHOSEN]
Considering that events like these were meant to be for as much people as possible, nobody exactly expected what the event actually threw at them
[COMPLETE A RIDDLE TO LEARN ABOUT THE LOCATION OF THE ORB]
[THE CLUES WOULD BE OBTAINED ACCORDING TO THE COMPLETION RATE OF QUESTS THROUGH THE WHOLE SERVER]
The quests were not hard by themselves, since they have varying levels of difficulty that players could choose. If they felt like they wanted to try to test themselves, then they could choose much harder quests, even those that were above their current level.
This was the fun thing about events, it was that the players would not die no matter under what circumstances during events.
(Alternate POV)
Dava did not feel much pressure on his shoulders, even if he had chosen the hardest quest possible for the current event.
[QUEST DIFFICULTY LEVEL: SSS
CLEAR OUT ALL ENEMIES IN 150 SECONDS
RECOMMENDED LEVEL: 70 AND ABOVE
RECOMMENDED PLAYERS: 2 AND ABOVE]
He fully planned on ignoring the recommended players suggestion. And it was not definitely because he did not have any friends that could join him in quests.
He took in a deep breath, his short black hair swayed along with the wind. He was once more in the middle of a forest in the Forest Zone, which was currently under Natt. He briefly wondered if he would be seeing the slime woman, though he heavily doubted it.
The quest said enemies, not just enemy. Besides, a quest that was at such a high difficulty level would not normally spawn bosses as enemies that were lower leveled, since there were other bosses that could be spawn than the low leveled ones.
There was a big difference in level, but he could hardly care about that, he cared more about the enemies that would spawn in the area.
Once he clicked accept on the system window, the timer immediately started.
"I wonder what they are going to throw at me." He mumbled under his breath.
He heard rustlings, turning his head to see what was coming his way, he was a little surprised to see that the quest had sent multiple dullahans at him. But he knew that there was way more than just the dullahans, although he placed his attention on them first.
The headless men and even horses charged his way, the dark skies and shadows of the trees provided an excellent condition for them to hide themselves, their dark cloaks and armors blended in well with the shadows. Even at the speeds the horses were charging at him, their hooves made little to no noise, just barely loud enough that he could hear.
He quickly summoned his sword, the blade glimmered under those conditions, providing him with just enough light that he could discern his surroundings. As two of the dullahans swung their swords at him the moment they approached, he quickly maneuvered out of the way while parry their slashes. Though he was not given much time to think when the rest of them jumped at him, swinging their blades down with the intent of slicing him in half.
He took in a deep breath, feeling his surroundings starting to slow down. He glances over his shoulder, seeing that the other two dullahans were starting to move back towards him, their horses already partially turned over.
He brought his sword upright, muttering the prayers he always said whenever he needed to use his skills.
"May SHE bless the lost and the tainted."
A bright white light suddenly engulfed the area, the brightness would not affect the dullahans since they did not 'see' in the same way as most other beings do, yet there was something that was clearly slowing them down.
Which allowed him to stab them in the heart before they could react properly.
He only managed to take down three before the light went away and the dullahans were no longer being slowed down. Despite their larger swords, they were not that slow. In fact, he would argue that they were at least around four times faster than a cheetah.
He was not concerned with the horses unless there was a dullahan riding on it, as the horses would disappear once its owner was dead.
So the last thing he expected was for one of the horses to kick him in the head.
A pained gasp escaped his lips which also made him wonder what had happened.
"I'm going to get laughed at if they knew I was kicked in the head by a ghost horse."
His eyes immediately caught sight of a new figure within the darkness, he could see them a little clearer since they had darker blue flames for eyes. It was obvious from the staff they held, which seemed like withered and slowly falling apart branches smashed and bound onto each other.
"A goddamn necromancer."
The dullahans quickly attempted to attack him again, including those that he had already stabbed in the heart. With the necromancer there, none of the dullahans would even die.
And he only had one and a half minutes left.
He immediately sprinted at the necromancer, dodging the horses and swords trying to slice him apart. As the necromancer summoned some undead to help them deal with him, his blade started to shine much brighter. He knew that it was about time that he could use his skills and abilities.
[CONDITIONS FOR [BELLATOR LUMINIS] HAS MET. ALL SKILLS, BUFFS AND ABILITIES COULD BE USED FREELY]
[ACTIVATING [DIMMING LUMEN]...]
At that exact moment, he swung his blade. It went straight through the undead that was going to act as a shield and drag his speed, yet his arms did not stop at that simple swing. Despite the magic circle around the necromancer that ensured that their undead army could not be killed instantly under most circumstances, his skills were those exceptions.
The undead were all reduced to ash and they were still floating in the air as he swung his blade once more, connecting with the staff that the necromancer was holding on.
His blade went right through the staff despite the necromancer's staff usually being an unbreakable weapon. It went clean through the necromancer's head and even if a system window appeared in front of his sights, warning him of the necromancer's use of a specific skill, he quickly turned his attention back to the dullahans that had already approached him.
[ [LAST STAND] ACTIVATED.]
[ [LUMINIS' LOVE] HAS NEGATED THE EFFECTS OF [LAST STAND].]
He barely suppressed the grin formed on the corner of his lips as his blade went right through the heart of the closest dullahan to him. He then flung himself upwards, landing on a close by dullahan's sword, they were clearly going to stab him while they were in midair, but they were just a little too slow.
He quickly went through the rest of the dullahans, taking them out one after another in quick succession, not wanting for any of them to act any further.
Though he also just wanted to finish this quickly since he did not have much time left.
As the ashes faded and the horses began to disappear into the air along with them, a system window popped up in front of his sights.

He could not help but groan and roll his eyes. "Well, I suppose the game wouldn't just give everything you need so easily."
"The dullahan and necromancer staff could be used for something... I guess I will go ask the weaponsmith later..."
As he checked his inventory for the clues he had gained, the only thing he felt upon seeing what the clue description said was annoyance and perplexity.
[CLUE#1]

[(Maybe you need to decode it first)]
"Very helpful, game."
He stared at the numbers, trying to understand if there was some kind of pattern to them. But honestly, it was his first time seeing something like this, which left him incredibly stumped. He scratched his head, trying to make sense of everything or try to find some patterns.
Although, what was the point of trying to guess at the numbers when he had little to no clue about what they meant.
"Decode it..." He mumbled under his breath, then suddenly he remembered something.
"Is that why there is such a random function within the options?"
He went out of his inventory window, now back onto the main window. He pressed on the options, then saw something called, 'Assistant'. He had tried out the function before, but all the assistant really did was just act the same way a guide would, though the assistant was much quieter than the guide so he was grateful for that.
He made the assistant scan through his inventory and sure enough, a separate window popped up.
[WOULD YOU LIKE TO DECODE CLUE#1, CLUE#2 AND CLUE #3?]
After he clicked yes, the item description was suddenly much more easy to read.
[CLUE#1]
[DESCRIPTION:
Obsession of Knowledge Makes Many Lose Themselves
(Clue 1 of 5)]
[YOU ARE ONE STEP CLOSER TO UNLOCKING THE FULL RIDDLE]
He stared at the line of text, which made no sense. Though once he looked at the other two of the clues he had obtained, he could roughly tell that the clues were definitely trying to point him to the location of the orb. But the sentences were out of order too, which was starting to make his head hurt.
"Well... One more quest to go before I get the rest of the clues."
He pulled out the event system window, staring at the quests that were available on the billboard. He could choose something far more simple, but he could not be sure of how the clues would be given out since he only gotten three from his highest difficulty quest.
"I'm just going to pick this one."
He clicked on a S rank quest after some considerations. The S rank quest was item fetch, which normally would not be a S rank quest, maybe a B rank at most, unless the item was either really hard to obtain or there was some obstacle that bumped the quest up this high.
He decided to walk to the quest area instead of just teleporting there. Sure, it would definitely take a while since it was at the right side of the map and he was currently more towards the left side of the map. Though he much rather walked, liking to enjoy the scenery even if it barely changed much, aside from the dark, gloomy skies that was.
His sword disappeared from his hand altogether as he began his walked, his white windbreaker flowing along with the cold winds.
"Ah... I might have forgotten that I need some mats. But who wanted it and what did they want?"
He scratched the back of his neck, feeling his cheeks burning up slightly from his sudden terrible memory.
"Shit..."
'Maybe I should ask her...' But he quickly dispelled that thought, not wanting to bring her much trouble than the ones she had already been dealing with.
"Ah whatever! I would probably remember it later."
