(Alternate POV)
The quest was easy enough, to guide a lost soul to where it belonged. The problem was that the place was almost impossible for him to find.
The map the quest provided did not help much in leading him around the tower. The tower's collapse and lack of anything unique about every corridor and wall made it impossible for him to even tell everything apart from each other, the map did not help much in that department either.
He groaned, looking over to the cloaked child standing beside him. They had not said anything ever since they were by his side, the hood had sufficiently covered up their face so he could not ever identify their gender even by their appearance alone.
His patience was starting to run thin seeing as he had been walking around the whole tower for almost an hour at this point, making no progress in the meantime. Even with the knowledge that he could reactivate the runes and make them form back to the tablets they were, it did not help much in helping him find his destination.
Besides, the destination was horribly vague.
[QUEST: GUIDE THE LOST SOUL TO THEIR RESTING PLACE]
[LOCATION: TOWER OF BABEL]
"So where was I supposed to send them?" He shouted, his voice echoed back in his ears.
The child stepped aside a little, their body shaking slightly after his shout. He took in a deep breath, quickly calmed himself down despite wanting to punch through the walls right now to find his destination.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
He looked around, the area still looked the exact same to him. He decided to kneel down close to the child, having a more relaxed and friendly smile on his lips. His voice sounded much softer, calmer and more gentle.
"Do you know this place?"
The child looked around, their yellow eyes filled with curiosity and wonder, though he could see some hints of familiarity in their eyes. They did not say anything to him as they began to walk through the mess, leading him towards somewhere.
"Maybe I should've tried to ask earlier." He grumbled.
The child could very easily traverse through the gaps and debris that would be hard for a grown man like Dava to get through, although he knew that the child was his only chance at finishing this quest without having to wait for others to even come by and help him.
If the others would even help him in the first place.
[EVENT PROGRESS: 85%]
After what felt like half an hour of walking and getting through gaps that lead to somewhere and nowhere at the same time, he could feel some odd presence in the air. He did not have to enter into his absolute concentration state to know where he was led to.
Where the orb was kept.
He noticed that the orb was kept in a clear, glass box that seemed too easy to break into. He knew immediately that it was an obvious trap, yet he had briefly forgotten about how the child might act. He could not react quick enough when the child had entered into the range of the box.
He was not sure what had happened other than a huge gust of wind that blew him away, making him hit a wall. He felt some sand entering his eyes, making him try to rub it out before remembering that it would be too dangerous for him to do so. He ended up taking out a bottle of water from his inventory, pouring it down on his closed eyes instead to try and get the sand out.
The moment his eyes opened, he saw a system window appear in front of him. But his attention was diverted away from it as he realized that there was a figure coming straight for him.
He only reacted quick enough to unsheathe his blade, blocking the upcoming attack. The collision force caused the wall to break behind him, sending him to another hallway. The hallway this time was far wider and much more well-kept together than all of the others.
It was easy to tell that it was preserved for a specific purpose.
"Huh, I didn't know they could use it like this too"
The figure standing in front of him was none other than Asura, yet he also knew that Asura was at the library.
[DEFEAT [ASURA] AND FREE THE ORB FROM THE [DEMON KING]'S GRASP]
It was a simple enough quest, although he was unsure of what exactly was 'Asura's' strength in this situation.
He would figure that out very quickly.
Asura's sword came his way, immediately unleashing a flurry of slashes. He blocked and parried those easily, having remembered the way he was fighting when they first worked together, despite their reluctance. Though those strikes were far stronger, almost making his knees buckle as the slashes went on.
Blade slashes covered the whole area, though nothing fell off or fell apart due to the system having kept its appearance up. Not that it could not fall off, though it seemed like the system designated this area as a fighting area.
He took that slight chance to unsheathe his other blade, quickly knocking Asura's blade out of his hold. Although Asura was still a little quick, having predicted that that would happen. He grabbed onto Dava's blades with his bare hands, the sharpness was enough to pierce through his flesh.
"You can do more than this, can't you?" He taunted, having his signature grin on his lips.
There was nothing off about this Asura, though Dava instinctively knew that it was supposed to be Asura anyways, he could not help that feeling of disgust that kept trying to extend their hold on him.
He could not tell if it was Asura's appearance or the truth that made him feel these emotions, but he was not going to question that.
"Of course."
[CONDITIONS FOR [BELLATOR LUMINIS] HAS MET. ALL SKILLS, BUFFS AND ABILITIES COULD BE USED FREELY]
[ [BELLATOR LUMINIS] HAS BEEN BUFFED BY [GOD OF SUN] ]
That extra system window made him a little more curious about the whole situation, though he also quickly put two and two together.
[ [DEMON KING] HAS BEEN ACTIVATED]
[ [DEMON KING] HAS BEEN WEAKENED DUE TO [BELLATOR LUMINIS] AND [GOD OF SUN] ]
The ominous presence that Asura would usually have was clearly weakened by the presence of two others, one of which being Dava himself. As his outfit changed from his usual to something far more befitting of a holy knight from the medieval times, his swords also shone brightly under the darkness.
It was not hard to slice through Asura's skin as if it was butter, even then, his powers were not yet enough to completely slow down Asura's regenerative abilities. Asura quickly kicked him in the face, making sure that there was some distance between them. As the shadows and darkness attempted to cover Dava's sights, his swords remained a shining beacon.
"Come on!"
The darkness and shadows all visibly swirled around his sword as he raised it, then followed it as he roughly swung it down towards Dava. They were calm, quickly raising their sword to parry it, perhaps even break through that cloud that surrounded them.
The shining light collided with the darkness and for a moment, it seemed like they were evenly matched.
Until the light blinded everything in its path.
"May She bless the lost and the tainted."
He moved with ease within that light, his arm very swiftly swinging his sword, aiming the blade right towards Asura's neck. The effects of the debuffs on Asura as well as his own buffs made his blade go through the skin and flesh of the demon with ease, the blood that was supposed to stain his blade turned into ash.
As the light dimmed back down, concentrating mostly back to Dava's blade, Asura's corpse slowly turned into ash.
[CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE DEFEATED [ASURA]!]
[RETRIEVE THE ORB AND RETURN THE SUN BACK TO THE SKIES]
He sighed, feeling his powers leave him as his outfit turned back to his usual. He sheathed his blade, putting one back into his inventory. As he went back to where he had last seen the orb, the last thing he expected to see was a person sitting on the pillar where the orb was.
Their hair was long, the hue flowing as if every strand of hair was a slightly different shade of the same hue. Their yellow eyes were bright even within the tower, as if the darkness around them could not even try and hide their presence. They seemed and felt God-like, even down to the clothing they were wearing, which was an all white chiton with a golden belt.
[THE [GOD OF SUN] IS STARING AT YOU]
"Yes I can tell that much." He mumbled.
Now that the orb seemed to have turned into a being(?), he wondered how he would need to return the orb back to the skies.
[ [GOD OF SUN] HAS A REQUEST FOR YOU]
"I'm not going do any more of these —"
He paused himself when he saw the system window in front of him, then looked back at the God.
"... I guess I don't have a say in this."
