Chapter 44 - Your sky is not my sky(2)

Dustin Pov-

It looked like he had calmed down, I had expected an adverse reaction to my words but I hadn't expected him to reach the heavenly star realm. Seriously why someone like him is here?

The immense mana that leaked out of his body clearly showed he had at least reached the 4th star, It was a good thing that he was not combat-oriented or the situation would be bad.

The broken fragments of the plate were lying everywhere on the floor, if I had been slow in backing away I would have been cut by one of the fragments.

It's not like I don't understand his reasoning, even in the game it was impossible to advance to that realm as Magic and Ability users.

Of course, advancing as a 7th star as a warrior was still possible. Still, it was difficult but not an impossible task compared to the advancement of magic and ability.

To be honest, even I didn't know how far would I go in the future, how many geniuses and monsters have tried to advance to that realm in these last 2000 years but the final result is always a failure.

"I know that what I say might not make any sense to you but I- I have a dream that I want to come true. A reason to fight no matter the adversity so I won't stop even if the path ahead is hell itself"

"I don't care about the reason and the dream of yours, Even if your background is problematic I don't give a damn as long as you don't betray humanity but do you understand that what you want you will never achieve. It would be a different thing if you were a magic user but you are an ability user so it's more than impossible"

Everything he has said is true, I had the determination to fight the apocalypse but I don't even know the true nature of it. In the game, the 10th star was a myth and thought of as a realm of gods but in the empire, the 7th realm and above were thought of as god-like beings.

The game ended when the empire was destroyed and it's not like there was a way to save the empire with the negligible strength of the player.

In fact, the realm above the 6th star was theorised by the players according to the historical records.

The so-called safe place I wanted to take the old man was a cage to buy time for living.

Even the woman I had put all my expectations just had the possibility to reach above the 6th realm, In fact, life would be better if I just stopped thinking and enjoyed life while waiting to die.

But I had people I had to protect, most of all if I gave up right now then I would never be able to meet her and that is something I can't accept.

I won't accept...

Euris was a good man even if he was a little snobbish, In fact, if he had leaked what I said to the empire this entire village would have been reduced to ashes.

Nobody in the empire would care if a village on the border is wiped out,

in fact, they would think it is the right decision. I didn't think everyone in the empire was a fool but it was more like they prioritised the stability of the empire.

People like to seek blessings from a god and worship him but a god that is breathing and living by their side will never be allowed.

The Empire already had a being of that realm so there was no need for a second one, If that woman had not been protected by that man then she would be crippled or even dead the moment the possibility of reaching above the 6th realm appeared in her.

Someone who could destroy humanity on his whims would be feared by humans, the intentions didn't matter.

Even if I reached the 7th star or above I didn't think it was enough to stop the apocalypse if it was then that man would have stopped it.

"What do you think when you see the sky?"

"How does that matter to our conversation? I don't have the patience to hear your nonsense so just leave right now!"

He was growing impatient with every second that passed but I had no intention to calm him down.

People generally don't listen to logic when they are angry but after anger cools down they are more prone to logic than normal and I am waiting for that moment.

It would also been ideal to give him a strong external stimulus to wear his anger down but I had excluded that option.

I not only had to see his limits of patience but also understand his character in depth for future cooperation.

"Most people think the sky is beautiful and then they go living their life, but when I see the sky I want to know- I want to understand why the sky exists, the reason the moon is round and what is beyond the edges of this sky that we limit ourself in it!"

"SHUT UP! LEAVE RIGHT NOW!."

I didn't like manipulating others, it made me feel like I was some kind of villain but how could someone as kind-natured as me be evil?

I bowed down to him and left the house without saying anything.

Euris was a scholar who loved knowledge and liked to ponder the mysteries of the world, I couldn't say I wanted to get the strength to survive or fight the apocalypse to him but it was different if I stroked his scholar's heart.

The plan had formed in my mind when I saw the name of the book he was reading, it was called 'The Records of Ancient Times'.

It was a book that was banned in the empire by the church, I deduced from this and all his subconscious habits that I observed all these years to what I had to bring this man on my side.

He wouldn't be able to bring himself to throw water on my thirst for curiosity, I mean how could a child who was abandoned by his family for his curiosity be able to bring himself to do the same to me.

From the moment he started to observe me it was decided that he had no choice other than to help me.
