Dustin(pov)-
I had waited for Jack for nearly an hour but he still didn't come.
Don't tell me he has forgotten it. I sighed when thinking about how probable it was for him to start playing and forget about the work I assigned to him.
I stood up and made up my mind to start the basic preparation to make cotton candy, I wanted to do it with Jack so that he could also learn it but I will teach him next time.
I wanted to get angry at Jack but how could I do it when he is helping me without expecting anything in return.
If I do that then I would no longer be a human!
Of course, I would at least give him a good choke as a symbol of our good friendship. It was certainly not because of my frustration.
I grabbed the clay pot and sugar in the bag and pulled it out.
I started walking towards the kitchen and put it on top of the stove, the stove was made of mud and it required wood for its fire.
I grabbed pieces of wood and put them in the stove and used the flint stones to fire the wood.
I am sure if the current me is put on a survival show on Earth I would probably dominate the entire competition.
The wood lit up and started burning with dazzling crimson flames, heating the pot.
I poured sugar into the pot and used the spoon to stir it till it melted.
In fact, sugar does not melt, rather it decomposes when heated. The thermodynamic melting point of sucrose, or table sugar, is around 185°C.
However, when heated, it degrades into glucose and fructose, which are different forms of sugar.
If cooked to a high temperature, these sugars lose water and react with one another to form a variety of compounds.
This process is known as caramelization, and it can happen while the sugar is still solid.
As I kept stirring the sugar it finally reached a caramel-like consistency.
I wiped the sweat on my face as I was happy that I did it perfectly on the first try if I had gone to become a confectionery in my first life then I would have been very successful.
But what could I do I had discovered my true talents too late in my life.
Late enough to live another life.
Slowly a sense of arrogance rose in me, I felt like I could do anything right now.
This was just the first step of my journey to success, I would suppress all my enemies in the future.
As I emerged in my delusion suddenly the door of my house opened and Jack came in with a spindle in his hands.
"Sorry for being late but dude can you do something about the crazy smile you have on your face? I know it was my fault for being so late but right now you are seriously scaring me"
Oh my god. I had nearly stepped on the path of a crazy main character who makes enemies all over the world and is then chased like a dog by everyone.
The thing is I don't level up every 2 days and neither I have a cheat to help in survival so if I do something crazy like this I would die in a day.
I looked at Jack with a grateful look in my eyes, he gave me a confused look seeing my antics.
"Jack you were not late but came at the right time. No, if you come at any other time then I would have stepped on an unforgivable path with no return."
"What are you- you know I do not want to know. I gave up understanding you a long time ago"
"Don't say such cruel words my heart is going to be torn in pieces. But I forgive you and will not give you a friendship choke."
"C-cruel words are what you are saying right now. Is threatening your friends not considered cruel by you?"
"How cruel- I sincerely wanted to show my appreciation for you~"
"Stop it! I just got chills all over my body."
He rubbed his arms ferociously after hearing my frivolous words.
He came and handed me the spindle, I looked at it and deeply examined it.
It was of excellent quality, I was shocked by seeing how delicately and finely it was made.
It's true I had given it to Jack with some expectations but I didn't expect his skills had reached such a high level.
The craftsmanship might look simple but I doubt many blacksmiths would be able to reach this level.
Considering his age just 12 years old he is undoubtedly a genius.
If he constantly keeps honing his skills then he might become the best
blacksmith in the empire.
I became embarrassed when I thought of giving him the shares of this machine. Just with his current skills, his work would be valued in gold and in future I can't even think of the value his work will reach.
Seriously what's up with this village, first someone like Euris came here and then there is a beauty like Leila in this backward place.
Now there is a genius like Jack. I had serious doubts about my status as a Transmigrator.
"Jack, do you want to leave with me to the capital in the future? I don't want your skills to be wasted in this place. Arcane Academy does not only allow people with magic and abilities but someone with extraordinary skills is made an exception for admission."
"Argh-are you that impressed by my skills?"
"Jack, I am serious"
Hearing my words he froze and broke into a sweat, I couldn't understand the reason for his reaction. In fact, he looked nervous at my words.
Does he think that his family would feel lonely without him? I could understand if that's the reason.
Not everybody is as coldhearted as me to leave their family without any hesitation.
