I thought of convincing Jack's father but finally decided against it.
I didn't want to influence his life choices just because of my selfish desires.
Even if he becomes more successful in the capital that doesn't give me the right to force him to go with me.
Of course, I could certainly give him the options he could choose from so he would have no regrets in his life.
But the final decision is with him.
I looked at him who was sweating with nervousness, I saw myself in him at this moment.
I understood how scary is to get out of your comfort zone.
Seeing him made me remember how scared and anxious I was feeling when I told Thomas about my plans.
It was probably the same for him, he didn't want to hurt his father or leave his dear friends.
He has lived in this place his entire life and it was all he had.
Unlike me who had seen the world, he didn't know anything other than this village so he might be afraid of the unknown world he had never seen.
"Jack, I know you might be afraid but fear is temporary, fear will go away with time but this opportunity will not come again no matter how much you desire it in the future. I won't force you to come with me but I want you to at least think of it once."
"I-is that s-so"
He spoke to me in a stuttering tone with a hesitant expression on his face while turning his head right and left which showed how much anxious he had become because of my words.
"Jack, if there is something you want to say look at me straight and speak confidently without any fear. I am your friend, not a teacher dishing out tests"
"No-nothing there is nothing I am hiding. I mean I understand I will think about it so can you let me go for now? Instead, let's do the work we are here for."
"Okay. I won't pressure you but if you need any kind of advice you can come to me anytime you want."
He sighed with relief when he heard that I had let things go. It was strange, his reaction was very strange even for him and what kind of secret was he hiding from me?
To be honest I was very curious to know what he was cooking now but I don't think he would simply tell me. I could cook an elaborate scheme to make him confess everything he is hiding.
But not only that is an invasion of privacy but I don't have the time to deal with other things right now. Most of all I do not want to investigate him and get to know things I don't want to know.
"Ah, that's right you are of that age. You don't have to be shy if some girl catches your eye. I am a master in that regard with countless experiences"
"What are you talking about? I have no interest in girls for now at least. I love spending time with my friends right now and I don't think anything can take its place! Most of all those experiences must have been experienced in a dream by you."
"Hmmm~"
"Stop doing that! I don't like boys so stop thinking things so nefarious."
I was surprised he knew what I was thinking. I don't think he had awakened a telepathic ability so how did he know what I was thinking in my head?
"How did you know what I was thinking? I don't think I accidentally said what I was thinking so why do you know it"
"Dude I know you enough to know what you are thinking just by looking at your face."
I didn't know how to reply to his words so I brought him to the melted sugar and explained everything I did.
He was confused by how something like sugar could become candy but even then he didn't doubt me and listened to every bit of my explanation.
After explaining everything I started first by making the cotton candy machine.
I first attached cotton to the end of the spindle, by tying it securely and wrapping it around the shaft.
I cranked the spindle to rotate the cotton this creates a rotational motion, which is essential for the cotton candy process. The spindle is usually turned by hand, using a handle or crank attached to the end.
The caramel-like sugar is then poured onto the spinning cotton by me. The centrifugal force created by the rotation causes the sugar to be drawn out into thin strands.
I had placed a bowl below beneath the spinning spindle to collect the cotton candy as it was formed.
The sugar cools down, it solidifies into the familiar strands of cotton candy that I loved in my childhood. The absorbent material on the spindle helps to draw the sugar out and shape it into the desired form.
I picked up cotton candy from the bowl and put a little of it in my mouth.
It melted as soon it entered my mouth and its sweet flavour with a slightly caramel taste made me have a nostalgic feeling.
Jack in doubt also put it a little in his mouth, his expression changed as soon as he put it in his mouth.
"Dustin, this is amazing. The kids in the village would love it. Not just children but everyone in the village would love it"
"This is nothing amazing. It would taste much better when we add different flavours to it"
"YOU CAN ADD FLAVOURS TO IT!"
"Stop shouting you will make me go deaf"
"Ah sorry. I was too excited just now. You are really a genius Dustin."
"Don't tease me! It's just a simple mechanism and the true genius is you who has such fine blacksmithing skills at such a young age."
His excited expression calmed down as soon as he heard my words, it was like someone had put water on a blazing fire to extinguish it.
