Chapter 4 - CHAPTER FOUR

"Then give me a reason to trust you," he said. "Huh, you need a reason to trust me for you to spare my life?" I said, confused.

"Go to sleep, tomorrow is another day," he said and left.

The next day, I got dressed and went downstairs to the dining table to have my breakfast.

"Uresa, where is your husband? Is he still sleeping?" my mother-in-law asked.

"He'll be late for work again," my father-in-law said.

"Work! I forgot. How can this stranger go to work? Does he even know anything about business?" I was still thinking about what to do when I suddenly noticed the stranger coming down the stairs.

"Dad, Mom, I'm off to work," he said and was about to leave when I suddenly shouted. "Stop! I'm coming along," I said, grabbed his hand, and left before anybody objected.

We got into the car and then there was silence. "I'm tired," he said, rubbing his eyes. "Are you feeling sleepy?" I asked.

"I told you I sleep in the morning, didn't I?" he said.

The driver drove as fast as he could and within a few minutes, we arrived at the company. It was my first time going to the company as a married couple. I had been to the company on several occasions because Andrew was fond of flaunting the fact that he had a pretty girlfriend. But today I felt lonely since Andrew was gone.

"Why are you still sitting inside the car?" the stranger asked.

I alighted the car immediately and stood beside him, "Just do as I say, hmmm," I said. "I'm the boss here," he smiled at me.

"Welcome, sir," the receptionist said.

"Good morning Kate, how have you been?"

"I'm good, sir. Congratulations on your wedding," she said.

"Thank you," he said. He held my hand and took me to Andrew's office and locked the door. He sat down and started to go through all the documents on the table. "Does he even know what he's doing?" I asked myself.

I sat on a sofa placed in the office just for relaxing. I could not stop staring at him; he was busy studying the documents like a real businessman. "Is he pretending? Why is he acting so serious?" I said to myself.

He stood up from the chair and was coming towards me, but suddenly crashed on the sofa and fell asleep.

I stood up and went to check out the documents he had been working on. The documents were neatly arranged and assembled, and he even signed them just like how Andrew would.

I was about to leave when I suddenly noticed the stranger waking up from his sleep. He turned around to face me, only for me to notice his eyes were glowing.

"Again!" I said.

"What?" he asked me.

"Your eyes are glowing again."

"But I thought you said they only glow at night," I said, frustrated.

"Yes, but..."

"Sir, can I come in?" the secretary said as she opened the door.

I quickly covered his eyes with my hands before the secretary entered. "Sir, I was asked..." She paused.

"Sorry, I wanted to give him a surprise," I said.

"I'll come back later then," the secretary smiled and left.

I removed my hands from his eyes, but they were still glowing.

"Is it still glowing?" he asked.

"Yes," I answered.

"Why don't you put on this shade," I said, giving him a glass to put on.

I sighed, now that the glass was on his eyes.

"Does it scare you?"

"What?"

"My eyes."

"No, I was just scared you were going to be caught," I said.

I looked at him and was lost. "What's wrong?" he asked.

"What's your name?" I said.

"Why are you asking?" he said.

"Whenever we're alone like this, I don't know what name I should use to address you," I said.

He smiled at me.

"Skyler."

"Hun," I said.

"My name is Skyler," he smiled again and my heart skipped a beat.
