Lilly found the one spot on the 20-times-20-cm-large cube that was different from everything else she felt. This is it, she thought and tried to press the exact spot that felt colder.
Sadly, nothing happened. The cube stayed the same, and Lilly didn't quite know what to do.
The cube is supposed to be a riddle of "being cool." What should I do? Lilly pondered for a bit before a strange idea came to her mind. If I have to be cool, does that mean I need to cool the cube down even more?
Lilly had no idea if that was the correct method, but trying it wouldn't hurt. She took out the icepack Coolbro gave her and held it against the exact spot that felt colder than the rest.
Suddenly the cube made a sound, and the other side of the cube opened up. Lilly turned around the cube and saw that on one side there was no more iron. Instead, there was a black glass surface with text engraved onto the cube. "COOL?"
Cool? Another riddle? Lilly looked carefully to see if there was any other hint. Apart from the writing, there was nothing else to go off. The writing itself was quite strange, though. It was carved into the cube, and the letters had different colors, while everything else was black. Green, blue, white, and red, with a silver question mark at the end. Somewhere in here has to be the hint, Lilly thought.
As time passed, Lilly still couldn't quite figure out what to do. The icepack didn't help. Touching the different letters, nothing felt any different. But she knew it—something was off with these letters. Why were they carved into the cube? Why was the surface not iron but glass now? There had to be a solution.
It has to be something weird again. The first riddle was solved by the icepack Coolbro gave us; what else did he give us?
The sunglasses. Lilly took out the ordinary sunglasses given to her by Coolbro. It looked just like a normal pair of sunglasses. A silver frame with circular round black glasses.
Lilly tried putting them on and looking at the cube. Unfortunately, there was no difference. Think Lilly; it has to be something with these glasses.
Lilly was clueless until she suddenly spotted something that made her frown. She looked at the cube again. Silver question mark? The frames of the glasses are silver as well. I need to use the sunglasses somehow; why can't I see something different while putting them on?
Wait. The "O O" of cool. They have the exact shape and size as the glasses of the sunglasses. And since everything else is glass, the in the middle of the blue and white O's is black glass.
This can't be a coincidence. Blue and white are the colors of the cold, with black glass in the middle that fits the sunglasses. It is engraved, so I... need to put the sunglasses inside of the engravings?
Lilly had to try it out. It seemed like a foolish, childish idea. But with a person like Coolbro, anything was possible. She took the sunglasses and tried to put them into the engravings carefully.
As the glass of the sunglasses met the glass of the O's, something strange happened. The glasses of the sunglasses seemingly vanished into white, cold smoke, and the sunglasses could be pushed down into the engravings without any problems.
The sunglasses were now fully pushed into the engravings, and Lilly knew that she had found the solution. As the white smoke dissipated, Lilly slowly took back the sunglasses, and the glass that was inside the O's was now inside the sunglasses.
In fact, even the color of the frame changed from silver to blue and white, like the color of the engravings. Lilly first looked at the sunglasses before looking at the cube that had changed once again. On the side that said "COOL?" before, the black glass was now gone and only 2 O-shaped white glasses remained.
It seemed like one should look through them, but nothing could be seen behind them.
Lilly understood what to do instantly this time. She took the newly formed sunglasses and put them on.
At the moment she put them on, she felt an incredibly cold aura enter her head. It was the coldest she ever felt, yet it felt oddly comfortable. It gave her a refreshing feeling. She felt completely cool, calm, and collected, and nothing could make her lose her mind.
It felt great to be calm like this after all the stress she had been through in the last day.
Lilly now slowly tried to look into the glass from the cube. She leaned in closer and closer until her new glasses touched the glass of the cube. And finally she could see through the glass.
Suddenly a cold aura once again overcame her, and she felt like she was sucked into the cube, although she could clearly feel herself still sitting in her passenger seat.
Inside the cube, she saw an icy landscape in every direction. Snow and ice without any trace of vegetation.
"Welcome," she heard a voice and turned around. In front of her stood an otherworldly beautiful woman with white hair and blue eyes. She wore a blue dress and, surprisingly, no sunglasses.
"Who, who are you?" Lilly asked, confused by the situation.
"You will find out soon enough. You passed the cube without being awakened? Your talent for the element of ice is excellent. As a reward, I will bestow you with a cool and clear mind," she threw a pill towards Lilly. "Take this pill, and your mind will transform. You will be able to remember anything you want, and your overall brain capacity and speed will increase. Also, although I agree that they look stupid, keep on the sunglasses you received. They will help you see through any illusion. You can come back once you are awakened. I will grant you more rewards."
Before Lilly could say anything, she felt the view disappearing and was now just sitting in front of the cube, looking at the glass again.
She pulled her head away and looked around confused until she saw Coolbro, who was sitting in front of her with a bright smile on his face. "Cool!"
