"Like cultivation novels?" Lilly had no idea what cultivation novels were, so Trash explained exactly what a cultivation novel was while heading to a luxurious hotel to spend the night before heading to the Magic Tower of Status.
Lilly wanted to avoid Lomobert and the old man in any case; that's why they delayed going.
"That sounds like something only loosers would read to dream of becoming something unrealistic like a cultivator as well." Lilly judged. "And these transported to another world cultivation stories are even worse. Get a life, idiot; you aren't going to wake up in a different world with a weird power and random girls that want to f**k you."
"Hey, the story I've just told you was my favorite," Trash complained.
He indeed read those kinds of novels in his time in the trashcan, but couldn't really understand the romance scenes within them, so he mostly just read the action scenes over and over.
"You want to have a harem of woman?" Lilly asked.
"I don't care about man or woman. I don't even know what the difference is between man and woman. And I don't even know what a harem is, so no, I don't want that."
Lilly was confused. He doesn't know the difference between man and woman. Did he really come out of a trashcan like he said? She wanted to ask but decided against it. If she went from being a rich daughter who could do everything she wanted to serving someone straight out of a trashcan, her ego might just couldn't take it.
Following him has brought me into this magical world. Without him, I wouldn't have met Coolbro and wouldn't hold this artifact. I should stay with him for now and not ask any questions I don't want to hear the answer to.
Lilly and Trash arrived at the hotel, where Lilly booked two separate rooms for them to stay for the night. She called people from the hotel to take care of Trash before focusing and falling asleep.
After Trash and Lilly woke up again, they walked—yes, Trash could now reliably walk since after the flight—to the Magic Tower of Status.
"You know Lilly. We will meet this old master and Lomobert again at the Tower," Trash said.
"Why would we? I even delayed our arrival just so we wouldn't meet them," Lilly said, alarmed. Did Trash know something she didn't?
"Why? Of course, because this is how it always goes in the stuff I read."
"This is your reason?" Lilly asked.
"Yes."
Lilly was kind of relieved. Just because some idiots wrote stories seemingly recurring annoying characters would be in the way of the main cast, it would be unrealistic in real life.
They arrived at the address G gave them and luckily didn't see Lomobert and his master. What they saw was a small building with an LED light saying "Magic Dancer" and a security guard in front of it.
"Is this the famous tower?" Lilly aksed. "Why is it just a small building?"
"Maybe its a backwards tower. A tower that goes down?" Trash responded.
"Yeah, surely," Lilly just said as they went to the gurad. Lilly showed there were two passes G prepared for them, and the bodyguard let them throw without saying a word.
Once inside, they saw a small queue lining up to an elevator; it seemed like Trash was correct with his earlier assessment. "I told you, this is my domain," he said, and as the words came out of his mouth, someone else entered the building.
In fact, they were two people, a master and a disciple, someone dumb and someone even dumber. Xiao and Lomobert were their names, and Lilly knew that today would be a bad day again. Luckily Lilly acted fast and put a mask on herself and Trash. This was her plan B if the young master and old master showed up again.
"See, I was right," Trash said in an oddly robotic voice altered by the mask and pointed at Lomobert.
"Right with what?" Xiao promptly questioned. He and Lomobert walked towards Trash and Lilly with their heads held high. "You say you can predict my movement? Which sect or school of magic are you from?" he said.
"Oh, you don't..." "Excuse my brother, he meant the flow of the air, not you esteemed master," Lilly interrupted Trash.
"You dare say that I missinterpret his gesture?" the master said. "Hmpf, whoever you are, I will seek out your master after this transgression."
"My master? How would you find my master?" Lilly asked.
"Oh, you seem to be known within the Tower, lady. First of all, unawakened brats like you would need a master to even enter this tower, and your master would have reserved a floor. The floor your master is on represents his status in the magic world. The lower you go, the higher the status. Now, the catch is anyone from a floor below can also visit the floors above him, where the mages with lower status reside. But you can't go lower. The floor you are on also shows everyone with all their details on every floor above you, meaning I will easily find you and your master and tell him to disband the relationship. HAHAHHA"
"Ähm master, why would people go to this tower if they don't have the highest status of them all? All the data will be seen by the more powerful." Lilly asked.
"That is a simple, young one. This place is the best place on the entire earth to awaken. No one knows exactly why that is the cast, but the farther down you go, the better it will be for your awakening. And the test of this tower, of course, is to measure your support. If you can convince powerful people to let you awaken and expose their own identity, you will be rewarded; if you can't, you will gain nothing. That is the lesson this tower teaches. Status is everything."
The line moved, and finally it was Lilly's and Trash's turn to head into the elevator. "See you soon," Xiao said and laughed.
Within the elevator, there were no buttons to select where to go; it was just a single slit where Lilly and Trash could put their cards.
