Ever since then, the people of the kingdom started discriminating against him, claiming he wasn't worthy of being the prince.
Although they didn't dare say it to his face, they didn't bother to hide their hate and disgust in their words and actions towards him.
The news about the awakening ceremony spread like wildfire, and even those who weren't present there heard it before too long.
Alex simply watched all of this, an uncomfortable feeling slowly rising in his heart.
Suddenly, the scene in front of him changed once more, this time, revealing his younger self sprinting through a large hall, in hot pursuit of Quira.
"You again! S-stop there." He shouted, swiftly stretching his hand towards the girl floating ahead of him.
However, just as his hands were about to touch her, the little girl swiftly flew to the side, causing him to grab the empty air instead.
"Argh…" Alex grunted in annoyance, almost losing his balance due to the shock.
The servants working in the hall swiftly moved out of their way, given the two children enough space to run around.
Although they were both prince and princesses, they never acted like one, always giving them headaches.
However, they were already used to it, simply leaving the children in their own world.
Meanwhile, Alex watched as his younger self and his sister kept playing around, running all around the castle in excitement.
He could also remember this scene like it happened yesterday, and a cascade of emotions slowly washed over him.
This was around three years after the Zet awakening test, which he had failed woefully.
Although the discrimination from the people got even worse after he clocked eight and still didn't awaken any psychic abilities, not once did his family insult or look down on him for it.
His sister participated in her own awakening ceremony about two years later, shocking the whole world with her talent.
Normally, comparisons between the two of them arose all over the kingdom, but despite the disparity between their talents, their relationship wasn't affected in the slightest.
The love between them remained, and they still laughed and played like they usually did.
Due to this, the pressure on his mind lessened a little, and he learnt to not focus too much on his predicament.
'Not this… again.' Alex thought, feeling a pang in his chest.
After a few minutes, Quira suddenly bursted into a large room, and her steps immediately came to a halt.
The first thing that appeared in her sight was the image of a beautiful black and blonde haired woman lying motionlessly on the ground, with weird thin lines crawling all over her body.
"M-mom…?" She muttered, slowly staggering back in shock.
"Got ya…" Alex bursted in at the next second, however, his voice slowly slurred as he stared at the scene in front of him.
His mother was lying collapsed on the ground, with strange green lines running up to her neck.
"W-what…?" He muttered, his eyes slowly widening in shock.
The next thing he saw was his father, crouching weakly on the ground while panting heavily.
In front of him was a small puddle of blood, which reflected the light shining above it.
His gaze slowly drifted to the two of them, and his eyes widened in horror.
"Alex… Quira… no…" He muttered, slowly getting back up on his feet.
"Ohh, the stars of the show finally showed up!" An excited voice echoed all around the room, and Alex gazed shifted to the one who spoke in confusion and horror.
His eyes met with that of a pale green-haired man with wrinkled old skin, who he easily recognized.
Port'hov's hands were stretched out in excitement, and his lips curled into a wide smirk, sending chills down Alex's spine.
He slowly stepped back in fear, his breathing
Standing beside him was a beautiful woman with long amethyst air, and narrow eyes.
Her lips slowly curled into a sinister smirk as she stared at Alex, and she scoffed under her breath.
"Port-hov… Aunt Cier'ta…? W-what… is going on here…?" Alex muttered, subconsciously stepping backwards while gripping his sister's hand.
"Alex…" His father muttered, barely able to stand on his feet.
"R-run." He said, gritting his teeth in a bid to endure the pain wracking through his body.
His body was currently so weak that even a simple task such a breathing became difficult for him, but he couldn't just lay on the ground.
He had to get back up… to at least protect them from any harm.
"W-what… do you mean…?" Alex muttered, still shaken about the whole situation.
"Take your sister and run!" Earl suddenly shouted, snapping his head at him.
The moment Alex heard that shout, it was as if an electric shock ran through his body, and he tightly gripped the hand of Quira, before running towards the door.
However—
Whump!
The two of them abruptly ran into what seemed like a thick wall of mass, stumbling back to the ground.
"Argh…" Alex grunted, rubbing his head in pain.
After confirming his sister was okay, he slowly looked up, in order to see what they ran into.
Standing in front of them was a large man with smooth, bald head and a thick black beard.
His nose was thin, and his mouth was almost covered by the thick beard surrounding it.
On his hands were two thick metal gauntlets, which ran up all the way to his elbows.
"Where do you two think you're going?" He said, his deep voice piercing into the ears of the two kids.
"B-Bo'rath…?" Alex muttered, his eyes widening in shock.
Bo'rath was the chief security in charge of the castle, so Alex was very familiar with him.
However, what he didn't understand was why he would block them from leaving the room.
"W-what is this supposed… to mean? M-move away." Alex muttered, summoning a bit of courage.
"Who said you could give me orders! Hahaha!" The man said, laughing out loud.
"The both of you have always been so troublesome, causing problems for me all the time." The man said, with a slight smirk on his lips.
"Now look at you, so helpless..." He slowly stretched his hand towards Quira's face as he spoke, causing the girl to shiver in fear.
"You're all mine." He said, his eyes flashing with a weird glint.
"Keep your hands off her!" Just as his fingers were about to touch her, Alex suddenly smacked his hand to the side, pulling her behind him.
Thwack!
"Shut up!" He shouted in anger, immediately smacking Alex with his large fist.
Bam!
Alex's small body was instantly sent flying, only stopping after crashing into a wall on the other side.
"Argh!" He grunted, as his back slammed into the wall with force, sending a sharp jolt of pain coursing through his spine.
"Alex!"
His father shouted in worry, while his sister kept staring at his wounded figure with her lips trembling in horror.
"D-don't.. touch her…" He muttered, gritting his teeth as he slowly stood back up.
His whole body was burning with pain from that single hit, especially his back which had struck the wall.
Nonetheless, he resisted the pain with all his might, weakly standing on his feet.
"Ohh, and what will happen i do? Why don't you tell me?!" The man said, swiftly lunging at the girl.
"S-stay back…" Quira muttered, subconsciously moving backwards to get away from the man.
But he didn't stop, tightly grabbing her hands instead.
Quira immediately started shivering in fear, trying her best to get away, but unfortunately, her strength was no where alone.
"Let her go!" Alex shouted, dashing towards the man in anger.
Kyaaahhh!!!
"Leave me alone… leave me alone!!!!" She shouted, abruptly letting a powerful sonic scream.
"Argh…" Alex and every other person in the room immediately grabbed their ears in pain, in a bid to protect their ear drums from bursting.
Boom!
The sound waves from attack immediately attacked into the man, sending him flying backwards at rapid speed.
Thwack!!
His body only stopped after slamming into a door at the far end of the room, the knob piercing deeply into his spine.
His body hung motionlessly on the door knob, with his neck bent unnaturally to the side.
Drip!
Blood slowly flowed out of his eyes, ears and mouth, forming a small puddle of blood beneath him.
From that single attack, he was dead.
