Chapter 8 - chapter 8

Tesla.K.Walters

After breakfast,I went to the living room and had a video call with my brother and his wife. I missed them dearly that I wanted to cry, but I didn't dare to. My brother can't bear to see me hurting, and I don't want to ruin his relationship with dad. It was enough that they weren't on good terms because of my marriage, that's why he didn't even attend my marriage. So if I show even a hint of discomfort I'd be like adding oil to his already fumed rage. Besides that would affect Krispy, too, so I have to endure it.

"I miss you all so much," I cried out.

"We miss you too," they said in unison. I'd have gone to live with them if they didn't choose to stay in my hometown, and I longed for an escape.

" How is that little niece of mine?" I smiled as  asked.

"She so lively," Sarah beamed.  "She already has a lot of friends and talks too much. Sometimes I wish she could quite for a while," she laughed. I smiled. How sweet it is to have a family.

"We will visit soon." I nodded at him. Just then, Red came and sat beside me.

"What are you doing?" He asked. I frowned.

"Go away," I spat. He shouldn't keep bothering me.

"As if I want to be close to you," he groaned.

"Is that your husband?" Sarah asked, and I nodded. "Let us see him," she excitedly asked. I bit my lip. This is not your normal marriage and my brother didn't come to the wedding, won't it awkward between them.

"I don't think...." I started, trying to find some excuses.

"I don't mind" as if reading my mind,Red suddenly said. I turned to him, astonished. How come he doesn't mind talking to my brother? I politely handed him my phone. I prayed in my heart that it would go well.

"Nice to see you, Mr walters," he politely greeted.

"Call me Hope," my brother answered. He didn't sound pleased, but he tried to be respectful. "We apologise for not attending your wedding."

"It's our fault. We were too hasty, so it's understandable. " At least he knows how to talk to elders.

"We will visit soon,"

"You are always welcome," he even smiled. He gave the phone back to me.

"He is not bad." Sarah was the first to comment. I knew what she meant when she gave me a cheeky smile. Can't blame her, though. Anyone could be fooled by his handsome angelic face. I ended the call just as he stood from the sofa.

"Going out?" I inquired, noticing he has changed into a black pant, black t-shirt, and black jacket. Black looked good on him. I assumed he was going out since he can't be going to work in that outfit.

"Yep," he answered. I gave a nod and continued scrolling on my phone. I didn't have anything to do since I asked for a day off at the library. He was about to leave the room when something came up into my mind.

"Wait," I called up to him. He turned with a questioning look.

" I need my own room." I finally said what's been in my mind since morning. I couldn't sleep in the same bed with him, and the sofa was too uncomfortable. He thought for a while before giving me the answer.

"Suit yourself. Just take the one adjacent mine. " I was surprised that he didn't make a fuss out of it, but why would I take one adjacent his?

"Why?" I couldn't help asking cause If he wants to take advantage of me, he will be like seeking his own death.

"Does your mind work slowly or are you just stupid?" What's the difference between those two. But wait, did he just call me stupid? I rolled my eyes.

"Please enlighten me, Mr genius," I said, crossing arms over my chest and lifting my chin up intimidatingly.

"That's well said." What, boy? Did he miss my sarcasm? then he is the slow minded one.

"First, there are only two rooms upstairs except the study. Secondly, suppose my parents visit us unannounced. How will you be able to get your things upstairs before they notice?" He was true about this one.

" The one adjacent yours then,"

"Okay. I'll call someone for clean up, " he offered. Huh! He is nice now!

"No need. I'll do it myself. " he nodded and left. I went upstairs and started cleaning. It didn't need much cleaning anways. It's just some sweeping and dusting off. I went to his room and brought my things and some spare sheets and duvet. I was almost done with everything when I heard the doorbell ring. I rushed downstairs, wondering who visited. He can't be back so soon. I opened the door to find a young lady. She greeted me with a smile.

"How can I help you?" I returned the smile.

"I'm Anna, and I'm sent by Mrs kelvan to help with housekeeping," she explained. I noticed some groceries in her hand before letting her in.

"Hi, you can call me Tess.Come in please," she entered, and I led the way to the kitchen. "I'm sorry, we don't have anything," I excused, embarrassed that there isn't even a juice to welcome visitors with.

"It's okay. It's almost lunchtime, so I'll start with making lunch, " she suggested, and I nodded.

"Will you be staying here or.."

"No, just part-time," she cut in before I could finish. I nodded again and left her to do her things. I finished my work upstairs and went to the kitchen.

"I'll be taking a walk around," I told her before leaving.

As I walked around, I noticed that the house was a bit old. Probably was built by his grandparents. It was unique in its own way. The beauty of the garden itself was enough to take your breath away. I closed my eyes and inhaled the fresh air as the swift wind blew over my skin. It felt amazing. When was the last time I experienced this. I grabbed the pendant around my neck and played with it, My eyes were still closed. The feeling of longing was overwhelming my heart. Then I realised how much I missed him.
