Red Kelvan.
I searched each and every classroom, but chubby was nowhere to be seen. I heard from my friend that she has provoked Mandy, and that means trouble for her. Though I made it clear to everyone that no one should touch her, I know just how stubborn Mandy can be, and I can't be everywhere to protect her. I went to the library, hoping that I could find her there but she wasn't. Everyone was in the cafeteria so she couldn't be there since she usually eats alone.
"What if they locked her in the girls' room like they did in the past or worse in the old laboratory?" I was already losing it, at the thought of it. Ever since she came back, she seems distant. She was quiet before, but she is even quieter now. I don't know what happened but she has changed so much. She loses her cool easily and doesn't seem to be afraid of anyone. It seems like she doesn't even care if she gets hurt. She used to narrow her eyes in fear before her bullies, but now, she looked them in the eyes like an angry tiger, yet she didn't do anything to defend herself. I noticed that, and if it goes on like that, she will be hurt in the end.
I shifted my search to the old lab. I passed by the school swimming pool and unintentionally peeked through the window, and my eyes landed on her. There she was, at last.
"You are hiding here after throwing yourself in troubles," I said as I approached her.
"Leave me alone," she spat back. She was clearly irritated. And I'm trying to be nice here.
"No one tells me what to do, chubby. You must know that, " I gritted. I hate it when she forces me to be cruel to her. I watched her face turning red from anger as she stood before me, intimidatingly.
"What the fuck do you want from me? Just because I slapped back your bitch huh?" I clenched my fist. This was between us, why is she involving another person. "Yes, I slapped her and I don't regret it. So what are you going to do? Slap me too?" This was my first time seeing her like this. She was beyond terrifying. There is a saying that everyone have a monster hiden deep and I never believed it, till now. don't know what Mandy did to arouse the monster within her.
"I just don't get you. Why don't you confess to her, If you care that much about her? That way maybe you can build your evil empire together" her voice was venomous. Yet This was crossing the line. I have feelings too and now I'm hurt. I stepped closer to her, I could see that she was a bit frightened by my change of expression but tried to concede it. Each step I took, toward her, she took another backward. Till she reached the end.....
Present day
When I returned from jogging she had already left. I remember that she works at some library but what library opens this early. I went to freshen up. Today I have to go to the office. I put on a black suit since it makes me look away too mature. I have to make an intimidating comeback.
It's been hours in the office. I don't have a lot of reports to review or sign so I'm just relaxing on my chair. Though I tried hard to focus, I keep thinking about her. I wonder what she is doing and I feel like texting her. That's when i realized that I don't even have her number. Does this even make sense? Well, before marriage we didn't have a reason to contact each other. Our families did everything for us, all we needed was to make vows. Just then I recieved a call. I picked up.
"Sir, you have a meeting at 2pm and I'm meeting the girl if nothing else" he announced. His name is Sam, my personal assistant and driver.
"Where are you meeting her?" I asked.
"At a restaurant downtown" he answered. I was in no mood to work so I needed a refreshment.
"Prepare the car. We are leaving together" I said over the phone. It was an hour ride from the company to the restaurant. He parked right outside and lead the way in. I followed his path as we passed through the restaurant to the back. That's when I noticed her cousin staring at me like she has seen a ghost. As if that wasn't enough another girl turned and gave the same expression. Her big eyes grew even wider. Is she that surprised to see me? Or does she think she married a ghost. I frowned as we approached. I was planning to ignore them and pass by but I was bewilded when Sam stopped right before them.
"I'm Sam we talked on the phone" he greeted her cousin and turned to chubby.
"I'm sorry ma'am, we didn't mean to hurt her" What the hell! He said the girl is a minor. Isn't Krispy supposed to be in college? What the hell is going on here.
"And this is.." I knew what he wa going to say.
"No need for introduction" I said as I took a sit beside chubby. Sam stared from them to me,totally confused. I beckoned him to sit and he did.
"So I didn't know you were a minor" I said directly to Krispy.
"It's.. a mistake. A little mistake" she stuttered. Sam looked down. He was probably cursing himself. I nodded. It was no big deal.
"So wifey, you left early this morning" I intentionally teased her. She gave me, a bombastic side eye.
"Wife?" I guess he couldn't hide it anymore, since he exclaimed almost for the whole restaurant to hear. Chubby was quick to hush him.
"What? You have such a perfect husband and you are not proud? Or are you just afraid of jealousy eyes from fellow women" I smirked.
"Perfect my ass" she cursed. "If I had a dungeon, I'd throw you in right now." She spat at me. I frowned and looked away. How come she never lacked offensive comebacks for me? I saw Krispy grin from the corner of my eye and tagged on Sam's coat. Sam leaned over as she whispered something into his ears. She cleared her throat.
"I'm hungry. We are going to eat, " she said as she stood and forcefully pulled Sam with her.
"But.." Sam protested, but the girl was away too strong for his protest. He definitely was thinking that it wasn't right to leave his boss. After they left, chubby sipped on water before her and turned her eyes to the window. I drew out my phone and put it before her.
"What?" She asked.
"Your phone number," I seriously said, leaving no room for discussion. She took it and quickly typed in her number and threw it back at me.
"Give me yours,"
"Why would I give you my phone?" Why does she have to analyse everything. I put my arm around her chair and leaned over her. She titled her head back.
"Sweet heart, you need to have your husband's number"
