"Here comes the girl who got her boyfriend killed," sammy's mocking voice welcomed me as I entered my first class. Other students looked at me with disgust, too. They don't even know the whole story, yet they are busy shooting daggers at me. I ignored them and took my usual seat at the back. After yesterday's encounter with Mandy and Red, I decided to skip afternoon classes. No one would notice anyway. I was already missing him, and mentioning his name made it even worse. I went to sit by the beach. It was our favourite hangout place and I was sitting there alone. I watched as waves danced along with water. We used to be like that too, dancing along with each other. My life was away too complicated, too sad, but somehow he managed to make things a lot easier for me. With him, I could laugh, became a carefree girl, and focused on myself. Things even my brother couldn't do despite him being my favourite supporter. I was awakened from my dream land by Mandy's sobbing voice. She comes running into sammy's arms, with her other friend tagging behind. What are they playing now?.
"What happened, baby?" Sammy asked in a soothing voice that I almost puked. Those heartless bitches knows how to be nice to each other. "Tell me who hurt you?"
I was about to put on my earphones since I couldn't bear their honey talks when words I never expected land in my ears.
"Red transferred. He is going abroad and he will study college there too" my eyes widened as Mandy continued sobbing in sammy's embrace. But why would he transfers?
My first thought was to be happy, that finally he is out of my life. Maybe they won't bully me again. Yet I felt guilty too. I shook my head. Why feel guilty? It's not like he transferred because of me.
Present day
"Hey Tess " I was about to close the door when a familiar voice called behind me.
"Hi David " I smiled at him. David is my neighbour. He opened a small dessert shop next to the library and I was honoured to be the first to taste it. Probably not the first but the first before opening. He insisted that neighbours should take care of each other. Sometimes I even enjoy cookies cooked by his mom. They are so delicious.
"Going home?" He raised a brow staring at my hand which was still holding the door handle and probably the switched off lights.
"Oh yeah, I'm leaving a little early. Have to pick some meds for my kitten" I said closing the door.
"You own a kitten? Wow love it" he exclaimed and I smiled back at him. I like how simple he can be.
"You love cats?" I couldn't help asking.
"Yep. But never got a chance to raise one" I raised a brow inquiring more. I don't usually like being nosy or meddling in other people's life but the guy is different. He is just comfortable to talk to. To my luck he laughed so I relaxed more.
"Well my mom never liked the idea of pets claiming that they are too troublesome and I only got my apartment when I came to work here" he explained and I nodded in understanding. Despite how much I love it, I couldn't raise a pet too because my father didn't like it.
"You should try it though. They are fun to be with" he nodded. "I can recommend some good places" I added.
"I'd appreciate it" he smiled. He has a genuine smile ever. Wonder how many girls fall for only his smile.
"Goodninght?" I said but it comes more like a question. He chuckled.
"Goodnight Tess "
I passed by him and walked to the parking lot but halted on way when I heard him calling behind me.
"I'll bring some cookies tomorrow, we can have them as we talk" I smiled my eyes beaming with happiness at the mention of cookies. Can't love the idea less.
"Then I'll bring milk tea to go with" I added.
"See you " he waved and I waved back.
I packed my car just beside Red's porsche. I never seen him riding in it however I could imagine how cool he could look in it. I technically slapped myself for complementing him. He is anything but cool. One day I'll be able to buy this for myself. I used the garage door since I was too lazy to return back to the main entrance. I come straight into the kitchen and grabbed myself abowl of cereal and a box of milk. I'm starving. Anna took a day off to take care of family matters so probably no food tonight. Wait, lights are on so he must be in already. It's been long since he come back before me. I paused what I was doing and wondered toward the living room. I was dumbstruck when my eyes land on the messy room which is supposed to be the living room. From a disorganised couches and table to the pillows and carpet. Everthing was a mess. What happened to the neat freak I married? How can he, himself turn the room into a mess?
I proceeded upstairs just to bump with the angry bird right outside his room. His enraged face hardened even more at the sight of me. I almost died in horror. His hair was messy, and he was gritting his teeth with his fist clenched. I swear I missed this sight. Note the sarcasm.
"What happened?" I fought my fear and finally managed to ask.
"Chubby," he called in a low, terrifying voice. If I was little, I would have run thinking that he turned into zombie.
"Huh?" I answered.
"I won't spare her. I swear I'll kill her, " he basically shouted and ran downstairs, leaving me all confused. Has he gone insane?.
"What? Kill who?" I mumbled. My eyes landed on his opened room. I contemplated about entering for a while until curiosity got the best of me. Clothes were scattered everywhere, and for a moment, I couldn't recognize the room. And then I realized the cause of his murderous look.
"Fuck " I exclaimed.
"Red," I called and stormed out of the room running after him.
