Red Kelvan
I gently knocked on the principal's office. I heard faint voices inside. Seems like he is with someone. I don't know why he summoned me cause I don't remember my team having any issues concerning the principal and my phone has been on the whole day so it can't be my father looking for me. I knocked again since it seemed like he didn't hear me at first. He allowed me to come in. On entering, I come to face with a girls back. Her black curls fell just a little above her backpack. The principal beckoned me to proceed in as he stood up.
"Come here, son." Principal has been dad's friend for as long as I can remember, so he always calls me son when we are in private.
"Meet Tesla. Her father is a good friend of mine, " he presented, and the curly girl who had been looking down raised her head, her shy big brown orbs piercing mine. I froze on the spot. How come it's her again? Though the room light was faint that day, I couldn't forget those eyes, not even if I wanted to.
"Hi, I'm Tesla, but you can call me Tess." Yeah, that voice. She offered a hand to shake with a timid smile. Well, I was still in shock, yet I tried hard and succeeded in hiding it.
"Red," I said, shaking hands with her. For how long I held on her hand, I don't know, I let go when the principal cleared his throat.
"So Red son, can you please take care of Tesla for me. She doesn't have friends here and is introverted. " I nodded, glancing at her. She smiled a little, her chubby cheeks a bit red. She is so pure. Cute though.
Present day
"Bro, why are you slow drinking today? Does your wife prohibit you from alcohol? " James teased. I'm currently in a bar with him and my little brother. It's been days since we hung out, so as much as I didn't want to, I couldn't say no today. It's been like an hour since we arrived and I only drank two glasses only, ofcourse it has something to do with chubby since I dont want to go home drank but I also dont feel like drinking. These two always have so much to say, so I spent he whole time listening to their nonsense.
"Can't believe you are so whipped this early." I frowned but decided to ignore his comment.
"Yeah, man," that's Ian. Guess he can't miss the chance.
"Not a surprise, though. Sister in law is hot. He is right to ditch us, " he chipped in.
"Show me her pic again," James beamed, and Ian did as he asked. This boy had been my bestie since college, but sometimes his nosiness annoys me.
"But bro,.." Ian started. By his curious face, I knew I won't like what would follow.
"I remember in high school when father told you about arranged marriage, you were mad to an extent you refused to come home for a whole month. So what exactly changed your mind?" A real big change that turned my world upside down, but I'm not going to tell this dumbasses, at least not now. It's not the right time yet.
"Though probably he didn't say it,dad was surprised too. I eavesdrop.. I mean, I heard them talking," he corrected himself. I don't know when he developed this habit but he seems to enjoy it so much. I sure must tell ma, and see how she deals with him. "They were willing to give you a few more years before bringing up the topic again, but you beat them to it and suggested it yourself."
"I'm old enough to get married," I casually answered, sipping on my glass. I couldn't find any convincing reason to tell them. I remember that day too, seven years ago when my parents decided to blow a bomb on me that I was engaged to this girl I didn't even know. I was beyond raged. I shouted at them for the first time. I didn't like the arrangement and they couldn't change their decision. How could they do it without telling me, I was fucking sixteen and I needed freedom so there was no way they could come and tell me that I was tied by a fucking marriage and expect me to cooperate. I had been a good son, and the same goes for them, yet the marriage caused a big rift between us.
"Oh, come on, who would believe that?" James laughed. He clearly was not convinced. I'm not surprised, though. The guy has known for away too long.
"Yes, man. You are only fucking twenty five" Ian added.
"And she is not your type" James chipped in.
"What makes you think she is not my type?" I inquired. Why are they so interested in my love life.
"Looking back, all of those girls you dated were skinny, blonde or brown haired" James said thoughtfully.
"I remember that girl who you first dated in college was a blonde too. I never liked them, though. They were all sluts" Ian added before realizing what he just said and covered his mouth. I gave him a sharp gaze. I admit that girls I dated were sluts but he is the worst. At least I'm not a womaniser like him.
"My bad. I'm the worse I know. " he quickly retaliated. James laughed and clicked glasses with me.
"But bro, this kid is right." I saw Ian frowning from the corner of my eye. We are three years older to him, despite that he hang out with us a lot and hate it when we call him a kid. Guess that's how he became a player. To prove us wrong.
"I'm completely sure that you have a thing for blondes," he said cockly. I stared at him, and a smirk formed on my lips.
"Wait.. I know that look," he shouted and
my smirk deepened.
"When did your type change? How come I didn't know?" He shouted and sunk down on the couch. Feeling betrayed.
