Chapter 3 - A Spiritual of Depression

I was starting to sweat as a tall male human had me pinned against the wall in the girl's bathroom.

He started yelling at me which made me tense up tightly.

"Ashley, you have only three more days to pay me back what you owe me. If you do not, I will have to come up with more creative ways to get it out of you". He said to me as he licked his lips.

"I will do whatever I must to finish off my debt to you". I said as my body began to shake and tremble out of fear and dread of what he might do to me.

"Good, and you know that I will be able to deliver on my threat if you don't pay off part of your debt". He said to me as he backed away and walked out of the bathroom.

As I made my way to the sink in the bathroom I noticed that I was crying and my makeup was smeared all over my face.

"So what is it this time that he wants from you, cousin?". Rachel said to me as I saw her out of the corner of my right eye when she entered the bathroom.

"You know the usual stuff. He is threatening to get another way to get the money out of me that I owe him due to my gambling debts even if I can't pay it in cash.

It doesn't matter anyway because I am going to be having a meeting with my publishing house today".

After I made sure that I was clean and that the smear of me crying was not visible anymore l made my way out of the bathroom and headed towards my dorm.

When I made it to the dorm I saw a group of girls sitting on the front porch gossiping but instead of interacting with them, I chose to go around back and enter through the back door because every time that I passed by them they always gave me trouble since I was always doing well in all of our literature and writing classes.

"You understand cuz that if you don't confront them, they will just keep bullying you in class," Ashley stated as we entered the dorm.

The storm was simply designed with only one floor. Against the wall to my left was where all of the first years stayed, and against the wall to my right was where all of the other females who were taking the literature or writing track stayed; that was because it was very difficult to stay in this school for more than a year.

In the college, at the end of every year, every student is required to take a course-based exam. If they do not score at least eighty percent or higher they are instantly released from the school.

My dorm room was the fifth room against the wall to my left.

"Remember, Ashley, that we have to meet with my mother and father for our weekly family get-together at my mother's favorite diner.

As I approached my dorm, both of us walked in after I used my key to unlock it.

The inside of my dorm was quite simply designed. I had a collection of books shelved on the left wall. Against the right wall, I had my bed, and finally, against the rear wall, I had my desk to the left of the door.

As soon as I entered my room, I walked over to my closet and changed out of my school uniform and into a red t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans.

"There, that should be good enough for mother and father," I said as I put on my white tennis shoes.

I followed Ashley out of the dorm and locked the door behind me.

After that, both of us made it outside of the dorm and headed toward the edge of campus to wait for a bus.

While we were on the bus I chose to call my publisher house.

When I called them, they asked for my name, and I told it to them. Then they told me that my book was too vulgar for them to publish at such a prestigious house and that if I wanted to publish such an erotic romance novel, I would need to find a different kind of publisher.

I then closed my phone and became even more depressed since my book was not going to be published. I was truly counting on that to help pay off my gambling debt from my first year of college.

It looks like I will have to find another way to pay off what I owe that man.

"Is everything okay cuz". Ashley stated to me as the bus stopped and we got out of our seats so that we could make it to the diner.

"Oh, it's nothing. I just have some more troubles, but please do not tell my parents. This is my responsibility to take care of, not theirs".

"If anyone else told me that, I would immediately dishonor them by telling their parents, but you are a very creative and adaptable person, so I will respect your wishes".

As we both walked down the street, I was able to notice the diner as we passed it, and I could see my parents smiling and laughing at each other.

I truly had amazing parents, but I truly do not know what I would do if something were to ever happen to them.

Before I was able to enter the diner, though h, I saw my father collapse on the floor,r, and my mother her phone.

I suddenly was enveloped with overwhelming emotion at the sight of my father collapsing on the floor.

The ambulance came quickly and picked up my father.

When my mom saw me outside she was crying.

"Come with me you two need to be there when they get done with my husband."

Ashley and I got in the back of my mother's van and rushed towards the hospital following the ambulance.

After we arrived at the hospital we parked the car and rushed into the emergency room lobby.

It was less than an hour until a nurse came out and asked for my mother personally.

I saw her walk over, and then a few minutes later, the doctor left, and my mother's tears became more intense than I had ever seen them.

"Ashley; your father has died of a heart attack". My mother stated to me as she was crying after every other word.

I was depressed now more than ever at the fact that my father was no longer alive.

"I will take you to him now and allow you to say your goodbyes". A female nurse said to us as she came into the room.

We all the nurses to my father's room, and I started to cry more as I saw my father there, and as soon as I saw him, I ran as fast as possible to the roof of the hospital.

Was this life even worth it? The fact is that my life has been massively depressing and there is virtually no reason for me to live on in this painful existence since my father is no longer alive.

I walked to the edge of the roof and started to look down at the ground.

"If reincarnation exists I truly hope that my next life is more fruitful than this one. I will do whatever it takes to acquire as much wealth, knowledge, and power as I possibly can without crossing any moral lines".

I then jumped off of the top of the hospital rooftop, and as I hit the pavement, my eyes shut since I was no longer alive.

Candidate for The Reincarnation Protocol program selected. She has been chosen due to her high level of creativity and individuality.

I Heard a voice say I to me as everything started to fade away. What was this reincarnation protocol program that the voice spoke of?

Either way, it did not matter because I was dead and no longer cared to find out.
