It was close to six o'clock in the evening, and Song Zhenxin emerged from the kitchen with one plate of dish after another.

"Zihan, what is the meaning of this?"

Kang Zihan looked at the steaming bowl of chicken broth on the wooden tray in Song Zhenxin's hands.

"Can we talk inside?" He asked. He did not want his wife to splash the content of the bowl to his face, or even worse, to Song Zhenruan's face.

The four people went to sit in the living room.

Kang Yuanwei and Song Zhenxin sat together on a couch, while Kang Zihan and Song Zhenruan sat on the opposite couch.

"There is no easy way to say this," Kang Zihan spoke. "So I will just say this out loud. Ruanruan is pregnant with my child."

A deafening silence settled upon them. Kang Yuanwei was the first one to react.

"Daddy, have you been cheating on my Mommy?"

Kang Zihan stared at his son. Maybe he should have sent the little boy to his bedroom beforehand.

"Yes," he reluctantly agreed.

Kang Yuanwei gasped.

"Aunt Ruanruan, does this make you a fox vixen???"

Song Zhenruan began to wail.

"I am not a fox vixen!" She cried out. "I am in love with Brother Kang. It was unavoidable!"

Kang Yuanwei rolled with his eyes.

"I have heard the same line being repeated in C-dramas," he said mercilessly. "I never thought that my dearest mother is related to a fox vixen. Yuck!"

Kang Zihan glared at his son.

"Yuanwei, watch your tongue," he snapped before directing his rage at Song Zhenxin.

"Zhenxin, what kind of mother are you? How can you let children his age watch C-dramas? Don't tell me that you have been allowing him to stay up late at night!"

Song Zhenxin chuckled. She crossed her arms before her chest and gave her cheating husband an amused look.

"Kang Zihan, I have to commend you on your amazing skill in steering the conversation onto a completely different topic to avoid being killed in an accident. I sure hope that you can exhibit similar prowess on the road. It will be more useful than a bowl of chicken herbal soup everyday for sure."

Next to her, Kang Yuanwei broke into a sneer.

"Do you need a burn ointment, Daddy?" The filial son asked.

Kang Zihan's face changed color many times, from red to purple to blue before it settled with a deathly white.

His son had always been cheeky and loud-mouthed, but he did not expect him to be this rude!

Clearly, he had not been disciplining him enough!

"Anyway, like Zhenruan said, we are in love. I don't love you, Zhenxin. To be very honest, I don't think I have ever been in love with you.

Some background story :
