Chereads / The Tower's Villain Returns / Chapter 2 - Tutorial 1

Chapter 2 - Tutorial 1

[Greetings Player!]

You have been summoned to The Tower.

My once fading consciousness was jolted back to life.

The sensations that had left my body returned.

Naturally, I was in total shock.

I was in the tutorial I had completed ten years ago.

Looking at my hands, which were once rough and calloused from years of training, they were light and smooth.

This couldn't just be written off as my brain replaying memories before I died for good, this was certainly reality.

Years of constant fighting that developed my brain to think quickly helped me understand and accept the situation.

'I suppose... my wish was granted.'

'I've returned 10 years ago... when I first entered the tower.'

I grinned at my situation.

Maybe if it were a normal person, they'd be breaking down right about now.

But all I felt was my blood pumping in excitement.

[Phase 1 Beginning]

Choose your weapon!

Sword

Spear

Bow

Dagger

Magic Staff

60 Seconds Remaining

When I first entered the tutorial, I took a spear as I believed it to be practical.

It was a decision I regretted later on as I lacked talent wielding the spear, but I was still stuck with the spearman class that I had chosen at the end of phase one.

It took massive effort for me to remove my class and walk down the path of a brawler.

I thought to myself for a moment before opening my status window.

50 Seconds Remaining

[Status]

Zeon Cross

Classless

Level 1

Strength 13

Speed 14

Endurance 11

Magic 13

My stats were quite good for a human, considering our average starting point was an average of 10 per stat.

Staying in shape was a good decision.

Even though the stats before me were a far cry from what I once had, it was enough for me to deal with the tutorial monsters.

But I had to monopolize every opportunity I came across from now onwards.

Over my countless experiences, one thing I learnt about the tower was that it was fair.

Brutally fair.

Those who took the easy road would gain less, and those who took the road full of difficulties would gain greater rewards.

In accordance with this, I made my choice.

I allowed the timer to tick down.

40 Seconds Remaining.

30 Seconds Remaining!

15 Seconds Remaining! Warning, you may face greater difficulty fighting without a weapon!

10 Seconds Remaining! Taking a weapon is highly recommended!

5 Seconds Remaining!!!

Initializing First Phase of the Tutorial.

Chosen Weapon : N/A

I smiled as I entered the first phase.

I was in a small grassy plain as opposed to the white room I was in earlier.

The tutorial I remembered was divided into 3 separate phases.

The first was a one on one scenario where the player had to fight several monsters in succession.

The second was a raid scenario where a squad of four players would be paired to defeat a goblin camp or something of the sort.

The final was a battle royale, it was possible to die in the first and second phases, but even if you were to be eliminated in the third phase, you would be guaranteed to pass the tutorial.

[Tutorial Phase One Stage One]

Defeat the enemy, defeating the enemy quickly may net superior rewards!

A goblin with a shabby little dagger appeared in front of me.

"Krr...."

It let out a low growl at me before sprinting towards me.

It thrust the dagger towards my chest,

I easily dodged and kicked it to the side.

Goblins were significantly weaker than humans, and I was easily able to take care of it.

It fell to the ground and let out a shriek.

I wasted no time in grabbing it.

Snap!

The goblin's head fell to the side.

Level Up!

I was given a short period of time before the next stage began, so I checked my status and added the 3 stat points I received upon level up into strength, raising it to 16.

Speed held secondary importance as I was already very familiar with the movements of the mob types that would appear in the tutorial, it was better to obliterate them quickly with high strength for increased rewards.

As for the chest, this was the first part of my plan.

Upon choosing a weapon, players partially decided the class which they would receive.

If I chose a magic staff, then the tutorial chests would award me items useful to mages

If I chose a sword, perhaps I would get a shield, leading me down the path of a knight.

When the first phase of the tutorial ended, players would receive a few class options depending on how they fought.

If a swordsman fought with a shield, they could receive the knight class as opposed to the regular sword fighter class.

For players who fought recklessly ignoring any injuries they received, a berserker class was possible.

Many such classes could be gained depending on how one acted within the tutorial.

So it was pretty easy to understand that the items from chests were important to decide what class options you would receive.

Since I had not chosen any weapon, I could randomly receive anything from several loot pools, as opposed to being locked into one because I chose a spear or something of the sort.

So as long as I got lucky, I could obtain several weapons for varying paths, and then make use of as many as possible to try and get a large variety of class options.

Opening Uncommon Chest x1!

Healing Talisman - Uncommon

It wasn't a bad pull, allowing me to heal myself if I were injured at the cost of mana.

It fell under the holy umbrella meaning that using it could lead to holy based classes.

Although I had no intention of picking such a class, I wasn't adverse to using the item, I intended to fight extremely diversely so that I would receive many class options.

[Phase One Stage Two]

Three goblins spawned in front of me, I wasted no time charging towards them.

I immediately kicked one away, this time with increased strength, and then proceeded to grab the heads of the other two and bash them together.

It seemed one had managed to cut me, and I held the talisman in my hand and used it.

I felt my mana drain slightly as the minor wound closed.

I didn't see any point in using proper martial technique on some fodder goblins.

I snapped their necks in quick succession.

[Phase One Stage Two Completed]

Time: 14 Seconds

Uncommon Chest x2 Awarded

Level Up!

Level Up!

I invested the 6 stat points I received into strength, reaching 22 points.

Opening Uncommon Chest x2!

Hunter Gloves - Common

Hitman's Dagger - Uncommon

The hunter gloves were a welcome addition, netting me an additional 5 speed stat points.

The hitman dagger was yet another weapon I could use to diversify the amount of class options I would receive.

[Tutorial Phase One Stage Three]

A malnourished Kobold spawned in front of me.

The muscles one would expect to see on the lizardman race were nowhere to be found.

"Since it's the tutorial, I guess they're using someone like you, huh?"

It wielded a basic spear and immediately rushed at me aiming at my throat.

A kobold was still an easy opponent for me.

I sidestepped stabbed the back of its neck.

[Phase One Stage Three Completed]

Time: 4 Seconds

Rare Chest x1 Awarded

Level Up!

I placed the stat points into speed this time.

[Phase One of the tutorial has been completed!]

[There are further stages with increased difficulty, but with greater rewards.

Continue?]

My past self had left off here, leading to me having a mediocre foundation.

So without hesitation, I continued.
