Chereads / The Tower's Villain Returns / Chapter 4 - Tutorial 3

Chapter 4 - Tutorial 3

[Tutorial Phase One Stage Six]

Upon seeing the sight in front of me, I couldn't help but chuckle.

It was a hoard of approximately 50 goblins.

This was a perfect stage for me to test out the sigil, as well as the sword.

The slayer sword had a unique skill effect that excelled in handling trash mobs.

Upon killing an enemy, 50% of the final blow's damage would be chained to another enemy.

This ability could activate multiple times if the chained enemy also died.

In other words, it was practically made to defeat trash.

"Accelerate."

My perception increased as my speed doubled.

I handled the sword and used all my strength to land a devastating blow.

A red line of blood shot out from the goblin I had killed, chaining towards another goblin.

I did not waste my time watching this, and instead immediately moved on to striking other goblins.

Swish!

Several heads were severed in one movement

I was surrounded by chains of blood.

I was covered in blood and surrounded by corpses.

[Warning. The seventh stage is the final stage and the player may experience a significant increase in difficulty.]

I ignored the warning and opened my chests.

Opening Epic Chest x2

Executioner Axe - Rare

Health Potion x5 - Uncommon

I was slightly disappointed with my luck.... But it didn't bother me too much.

The executioner axe was a useful weapon that held the ability of instantly killing an opponent once it reached a critical state. Of course, it had limitations and was useless against opponents far stronger than its user.

The health potions could be useful against the next opponent.

Up until now things had seemed easy, but thinking about it, the reality was that I was just far too used to the situation.

The tower would periodically summon humans in waves, there was no way one could be prepared for it.

Even those who had experience in combat and had even killed another would struggle to cope with the challenges after the third stage.

I was unsure what to expect for the next stage.

But regardless, I continued.

"Damn."

A wyvern appeared before me.

Luckily, it was an injured one, no matter how cruel the tower was, it would not throw a full strength wyvern at a newbie.

But still, wasn't this overkill?

Whoosh!

The large claws of the wyvern wasted no time in striking at me.

I dodged back, yet i felt a slight pain near my chest, looking down, I realized that it had left some shallow slashes.

I drank a health potion with haste.

Unlike the golem from earlier, a Wyvern had no clear weakness for me to exploit.

It was covered in light blue scales that were resistant to both magic and weapons.

Clang!

I buckled under the pressure of wyvern's claw, barely being able to block it with my sword.

When it retracted, I sidestepped and dashed towards it.

I tried slashing at its skin, yet it proved rather ineffective.

I had to step back again to reassess the situation, clearly blindly attacking it would not work.

"Well, I suppose that would be a good first step..."

"Accelerate."

I sped up immensely and dodged the incoming slashes with little difficulty.

"Haa...."

I leaped towards the head of the wyvern, managing to grab on in an ungraceful manner.

Shriek!!!

In one eye, I stabbed my sword.

The wyvern shrieked in pain and tried to claw at me, but before it could reach..

Slick!

I drove the executioner axe into its other eye, now, it was effectively blind.

I jumped back and moments later my acceleration ended, it seemed I would not be able to use it for at least another minute.

But that was fine.

The wyvern was currently shrieking in pain and madly clawing in all directions, unable to see me.

It was truly a perfect situation for me.

As it shrieked, its mouth hung wide open.

I held the javelin in my hand and moved my arm back, ready to put all my strength in the attack.

Swish!

Squelch!

The javelin rocketed at the wyvern, driving straight through the back of its throat.

Blood spurted everywhere, and it was clear that it was about to die.

Without hesitation, I began running straight forward to land a flurry of punches at its exposed throat.

The poor thing stood little chance, falling to the floor after a few seconds.

I was completely shocked at what had just appeared.

A legendary chest was nothing to scoff at by itself, but it was something I eventually would have gotten my hands on several times over regardless.

But a legendary trait chest?

That was insane.

In the tower, passive abilities known as traits existed.

Usually, a player would only get between 1-3 traits even after hundreds of levels only from their class.

These traits were all extremely important and useful, and naturally, trait chests of any rarity were sought after.

Even a common trait chest held massive value.

But... a legendary trait chest?

In my past life, my best trait was of the epic rarity.

"Well... let's open it!"

My eyes gleamed like stars as I clicked the panel to open the chest.

Hmmm... I guess we can start with this one first.

Opening Legendary Chest x1

Emperor Caestus - Legendary

I couldn't hide my smile.

A caestus was a type of glove used by boxers in ancient times.

This one was of the highest quality.

It was studded with some sort of black onyx, and the material seemed to be magically enhanced.

Emperor Caestus - Legendary

Once worn by the Grey Zenith.

Decreases cooldown of all physical skills by half when worn. Punches deal 50% more damage and have increased chance of causing internal injuries. When worn, the user is able to instill fear in significantly weaker beings.

My brows furrowed slightly upon reading the description.

The Grey Zenith was a name I was unfamiliar with.

It was something to look into later.

Regardless of that, the actual buffs the caestus gave were absurd.

But I had far greater expectations of what would come now.

Opening Legendary Trait Chest x1

Blood Slayer Trait - Legendary

75% Of damage dealt is converted into lifesteal. Bleed damage is increased by 300%. All attacks that leave cuts are guaranteed to cause profuse bleeding.

I was dumbfounded.

I understood now why Luther and the rest of those bastards had been able to defeat me, if they had been able to get as far as this, or even the round before, they too would have gotten absurd rewards.

Whilst I wasted away with a class that wasn't meant for me, they got this shit?

I couldn't help but laugh.

"Whatever, this time it'll all go to me."

[All stages of tutorial phase one have been completed.]

[For your accomplishments, your name has been engraved into the history of the tower.]

[Calculating Score...]

[Your total score was 54203. Your tutorial rank is first place in the history of the tower.]

Leaderboard

1. You - 54203

2. Dragon Slayer - 32107

3. Overlord - 21532

4. The Invincible - 19841

5. Armageddon - 19235

Several notable names appeared on the leaderboard.. and I was far ahead.

One name stood out.

'The Invincible.... that's what they called that sword bastard Luther.'

It brought me satisfaction seeing that I ranked higher than him.

But at the same time, it wasn't something to be all that proud of.

When these guys were summoned to the tower, they had no experience fighting monsters like this, yet I returned with a decade of experience.

It would be weird if I couldn't beat them.

[For beating all 7 stages, you have received the title of Super Rookie, providing 50% extra experience until floor 10 of the tower.]

I equipped the title without hesitation and looked over my stats again.

I had previously distributed half my stats into strength and the other half into speed.

[Status]

Zeon Cross - Super Rookie

Strength 58

Speed 50 (+19)

Endurance 11

I was clearly overlevelled for the tutorial, to put it in perspective, the average player would be level 10 after all 3 phases.

[Phase Two of the tutorial is beginning. You will be matched with 3 other members to form a squad to raid a goblin camp.]

"Let's go have some fun."
