Chereads / The Tower's Villain Returns / Chapter 8 - Tutorial 7

Chapter 8 - Tutorial 7

[Hidden Objective Completed]

Free Koron from his role as a tutorial boss.

Reward: Oni Sigil, Massively Increased favor with Oni Tribe, Life Debt from Koron.

[Oni Sigil - Rare]

[Grants passive ability [Tough Skin] massively increasing durability.]

It was a great reward.

I immediately equipped the sigil, and unlike the acceleration sigil, it was engraved onto my chest.

It appeared in the form of a shield glowing with a red hue. An ominous palm, similar to the one Koron had used, was emblazoned on the shield.

I tried to test out the passive, cutting myself with the hitman dagger I had received earlier in the tutorial.

Light cuts were completely ineffective.

"Not bad."

I walked out of the boss room, seeing my 3 teammates, although they were basically just deadweight.

"Hey! You're back! We heard the intense fight, are you alright?"

The dark skinned man, Andre, asked me.

"...I'm alright."

I remembered something at that moment.

"Right, I could use some healing actually, you, Amelia right? Patch me up."

"Ah, right, of course, sorry!"

She was still very clearly afraid of me.

A healing spell was quickly applied upon me, leaving me at my peak state.

"Uhm... I know we seem afraid of you but... I just wanted to thank you... I don't know if we'd make it out if it weren't for you. If we ever meet again, I'll make sure to repay you."

The archer, Leo, spoke whilst scratching his neck.

"I'll look forward to it."

I tried to give a kind smile.

[Tutorial Phase Two Completed!]

[Rewarding XP based on contribution rate!]

[ Zeon Cross - 98.7%

Andre Benjamin - 0.9%

Leo Martins - 0.3%

Amelia Jones - 0.1%]

[Note that your lives are now safe! The third phase of the tutorial will not allow you to die.]

[You will be teleported to a blank room to invest stat points and recover.]

I found myself in an all white room, somewhat of a void.

[Calculating Score....]

...

...

...

[Your total score for the second phase was 28203. Your tutorial rank is first place in the history of the tower.]

Leaderboard

1. You - 28203

2. Overlord - 21041

3. Dragon Slayer - 18460

4. The Invincible - 19841

5. First Fist- 17523

Another familiar name appeared, the first fist.

A sneaky bastard who was always jealous of my strength.

Ignoring such thoughts, I felt a little pride seeing that I had once again achieved first place.

[For your accomplishments, your name has been engraved into the history of the tower.]

[Note: You have still not chosen a pseudonym! Your currently displayed pseudonym is anonymous.]

Oh right, a pseudonym.

These leaderboards could be publicly accessed by anyone and were a great source of fame.

But most people did not want to reveal their real names, as in the tower, names held significant power.

My old pseudonym was the destroyer, it was something many others called me, so I eventually accepted it.

But this time my life would be quite different, so it felt wrong reusing my old pseudonym.

'...Let's just go with this.'

I clicked the screen and typed in my idea.

[Chosen Pseudonym : Dragon]

Are you sure? Pseudonym can only be changed once after this.

I said yes.

I felt like it was a little cringeworthy, but at the same time, it wasn't necessarily innacurate.

This time around, I would devour everything, just like a dragon.

If that wasn't fitting enough, my class was reminiscent of one.

Anyway, I checked my level.

[Status]

Zeon Cross - Super Rookie

Dragon Fist

Level 38

Strength 58

Speed 50 (+19)

Endurance 31 (+20)

Magic 13

It seemed I earnt a lot from monopolizing the second phase, as well as taking out Koron in his true form.

I also noted that my endurance had increased significantly, gaining a +20 points, seemingly due to the oni sigil.

I had 39 stat points at the moment.

'Dragon fist seems to be heavily based around mana... so I suppose that's where it'll go.'

I put all the points into mana, increasing the stat to 52.

'Now, up next is phase 3.'

Phase 3 was a slightly strange phase.

That was because it didn't give any XP or rewards.

Once you finished phase 2, the tutorial was pretty much over.

The purpose of phase 3 were for players to show off their skills.

Because the 'Gods' and 'Demons' would be watching.

The tower had 100 floors, and there were certain sections to them.

Floors 80 to 90 were known as The lands of Gods and Demons.

Anyway, the gods and demons were, at least to me, peculiar beings.

Most of them, I simply saw as cowards.

Because even if they called themselves gods and demons, they were still players who wanted to reach the 100th floor for the ultimate wish.

Yet most of them just wallowed around from floors 80-90 because they were afraid of entering floor 91.

Floors 91-99 were simply called the Last Bastion.

There was 0 information regarding them.

Several pantheons of gods or societies of devils had ventured out into the last bastion in the past, yet none of them returned.

As such, the higher beings in the tower relegated themselves to the 80-90th floors.

They slowly built up their strength by creating apostles, or making their own religions on the floors.

Several gods and demons had their own churches or cults.

This was basically the purpose of the third phase, to scout out possible apostles, or at least people worth investing in.

That was why emphasis was placed on players fighting other players. The next phase was a free for all of one hundred people.

I continued into the third phase.
