Chapter 11 - Wolves den

I got out on the side of the street corner and looked at the building and name attached to the top. "Wolves Den." I said. The scent of meat drifted toward me from the place as Dwight opened the entrance and led the way inside as I followed him inside.

The place was moderately packed with people. Mostly tradesmen and from the lawyers. It looked like a 1950s Diner with a long bar and booths to the side where business folk in suits sat all eating thick juicy meat burgers.

I noticed that scent of two types of species in the dinner. Draconian and were-wolf. I did not know if this was a good idea after my run in with the asshole at the bar. My stomach disagreed with me. I needed a meal immediately. I was also staring to feel weak.

I hurried to take a seat in a Stoll at the long counter near the kitchen. Dwight sat next to me. He rubbed his hands together waving down a waitress in short blue dress uniform and white apron. She came over starting at the sight of me and then stared and then just shrugged her shoulders and came over swaying her hips suggestively.

She had a nice body and looked like a fun time but she had the scent of male on her and child in her belly that made me not all interested in her. She stared at me. "What the hell do you want?" She said in annoyed voice that had a sly comic ring to it that made me smile.

"Henrietta. We'll have two slam burgers a piece and he's paying?" Dwight said.

Henrietta stared at me though. "You going to let this asshole speak for you?" She asked.

"Damn nation, Henrietta. Can't a male get a damn meal in here without any of your female bullshit spat in his face." Dwight said in a gruff voice.

"Shut your mouth Dwight before I sit on it and put you on a corner. I was talking to Mr. Silent brooding asshole over here." She said with a quick mouthed reply.

I smiled and nodded. "Yeah. You heard the man. Get us the order and save the smart ass sauce for your old man. I ain't interested in you I already got a mate two of them. So turn your ass around to the kitchen window and bring our orders." I said.

Henrietta smiled and bent her head back for a sudden guffaw of comical laughter before she turned walking away to tell the kitchen our orders. Dwight lean close toward me. "That female is crazy. She's mated to one of the higher up Draconian leaders in the King's inner circle. She's nice piece of were-wolf ass though."

I shook my head at him and tapped my fingers on the table as I listened to the music playing. I frowned then and looked around to see a glowing jukebox in the far corner of the restaurant. I smiled. "Do all the jukeboxes here play that kind of music?" I asked.

Dwight frowned looking at the music box and shook his head. "Nope. That's all you." He said.

I frowned looking at him in surprise. "All me?! I didn't put money in the machine to do that?" I said.

Dwight shook his head. "No. It's like I told you. The strong rule and set the pace of the culture and everybody else at the bottom. It's the same way for the music boxes. The minute a strong dominant enters the building the box plays the music that dominant likes or suits to his mood at the moment." He said and then slapped his hands in excitement when Henrietta show up carrying two plates of large burgers.

She set them down in front of us and waited as I took a quick bite of my mean and smiled. That was the good stuff.

"That'll be two silver coins plus my tip." Henrietta said in a snappy amused tone.

I took out one of my money purses took out three silver coins and dropped them into her palm.

Henrietta smiled at me. I waved her away. "Go away. I'm eating." I said.

She smiled at me. "What's your name?" She asked.

"Danny Sage." I said taking another bite of my burger finishing it off and going on the other one. The meat here was delicious. The best damn meat I've ever tasted or either I was just very hungry.

Dwight was sitting back rocking in his seat happy and glared at Henrietta as stood in front of staring at me in confusion. "Would you get the hell away from him. He's got two mates already stop being so damn greedy?" He said in real annoyance.

Henrietta simply flipped him off before walking away to take the order from another customer that had just come in and sat down the counter to my right shoulder. I chewed on my last burger slowly sitting quietly next to Dwight. The moment I caught the scent of mate in the air I frowned knowing it was time for me to get the hell out of here and back to work.

I started to rise and Dwight followed suit with me. I turned and stared down at Erica. There were several other were-wolves with her but I didn't know them or care to see them. I smiled at her. "I got to go. Make sure to come by the Crossroads tonight." I said.

"Who are you?" She asked.

I shook my head dipped my head taking her in my arms and kissed her. She was like liquid heat in my arms. She didn't resist me for an instant and wrapped her arms around the back of my neck as I took the kiss deeper and took a firm squeeze of her ass in my palm.

Her mouth opened on a gasp of pleasure as I invaded the inside of her mouth. There was a sudden shaking in body in her body as I felt that strange connection between kick into hyperdrive and then she pulled away to moan. I set her down gentle on her feet making sure she was steady. The R&B music played from the music box as I felt extremely turned on right now.

I stared down at her glowing eyes as they looked up at me in lust and her mouth was open. I smiled at her. "I sorry to say but I got to get back to work. I'll see you tonight at the Crossroads. Right?" I said.

Erica nodded wiping her mouth with a shaky hand. "Of course. I will be there and reserve a room for us with Mr. Drake." She said in a reasonable calm voice.

I turned to go. Two young were-wolfs stood in my way trying to block me. I looked at them. They looked away.

"You got something to say to me." I asked.

Neither male said anything. They just glared at the floor not meeting my gaze. I simply pushed past them until they gave way easily. Dwight was at the door holding it open for me. I walked outside and quickly got around his cabbie to the other side.

Okay. I was now really horny as hell now. I had to finish this job as soon as I could. It was really time to do some real detective work. I had to find this old lady so I could get laid.

I opened the back seat of the cabbie hoping in and brought up my status menu when I saw the red light in front of me. "Mission menu." I said.

Mission: Hunt the white witch

Suspect: Mabelle

Age: Unknown

Class: White witch, Warlock?

Hobbies: Drinking

Education: Advanced magical university

Skills: White magic, fairy magic, Fireballs, Ice magic, Lightning magic, Destruction, Finger of Death, Evasion fire storm, all known destructive magic.

"Mr. Sage. Where too?" Dwight asked.

"Give me a second brother." I frowned at the same list. "I need a list of her work history and local haunts." I said almost to myself but the screen began to expand as I got a longer biographical history of this old lady that was going to take me a longer time to read but my gaze focused on one item. This lady had A single drink of choice that she never lived without. I highlighted that drink with a press of my finger and held on to that one item of information.

"Dwight. I need you to take me to a place I can get the best Drakes Fire ball Red wine in the city." I said.

Dwight wordlessly took off down the street. I smiled and felt good. I started to read through Mabelle's history that could be recorded silently. What was recorded of her history was about five hundred years. She was old one and had managed to out live many a mage born of her breed. I speed read through the information but highlighted moments in recent two hundred years when the current king came into power and her opinions on him and her political positions during that time about him.

The more I studied the more I was getting a impression about this lady that was pretty much in line with what Angie had told me a four hours ago when she had given me the case. I didn't know for sure but I was pretty sure that I could say this chick needed to be taken out because she was surfing from Alzheimer disease.
