I stood in the door way of the high client club for the elite mages and Draconian high born of the city. I scanned the open room that was carpeted and well to do high brow. I walked inside. There was few people in the club. Two females sat at tables playing a game of cards chatting away about the day to day local gossip while three men in casual suits sat to the other side of the room chatting quietly while two of the men. An open bottle of wind sat on a small stable in the middle of their group and glasses set untouched.
"Excuse me, what the hell are you doing here?" A female voice addressed me.
I turned my gaze toward a beautiful red head with a silver dress on. Her amber eyes stared at me and stopped in place as I met her direct and then she took another step back as I continued to stare at her quietly not addressing her question.
This world was a funny place. Dwight was right. There was certain open layer of aggression and dominance in play that I hardly noticed until I interacted with others or females here. I also noticed how the other people in the room either ignored the tension in the room now or they seemed like it was a normal interaction between males and females here.
I motioned to her with finger to approach. The female glared at me but clasped her hands together tightly and approached. I noticed she was trying to keep swaying her hips and pushing her chest out to me. That only seemed to piss me off even more. She finally stood close enough to me and stopped.
I didn't smile at her I sensed that would only make this old lady turn up on me more in anger and assume something about me and what I would do to her. "What's your name?" I asked her.
She stiffened at the dominance in my tone. "Mrs. Elvira Draconian Maddox." She said.
I heard the lie in her name and the sensed the deception in her tone. I started to open my mouth but the scent of a female behind me changed my mood for the moment. I stepped to the side while still keep Elvira in my sight.
The tall female from the bar came walking in. Her scent seemed to balance out my aggression as I breathed her scent openly relaxed. The tall female had froze at the sight of me breathing in her scent and then relaxed.
"You alright." She asked.
I nodded my head as I realized I had been close to killing Elvira a few moments ago. Damn. I really had to get a grip. "You working the same case as me?" I asked.
The tall female nodded. "Yeah. The old men at the station hired the pack on the case as well. Lady Wells is still the executioner. Marcus-"
I shook my head. "He's dead. I'm Danny Sage." I told her. "Who are you?" I asked her.
She stared at me. "Fire. I'm your mate. So what are we doing here with this girl." She said.
I shook my head. "She isn't a girl. This old lady knows where the prey is hiding." I said and stared at Elvira. "Just tell me where she is. You don't know what kind of danger you're putting everybody in this realm."
Elvira's scent changed and I knew she was about to lie. "I have no idea whom you are talking about. I would ask you calmly to leave this place immediately we do not-" She said and paused when I started growling.
Fire to a position opposite of the Elvira. I noticed conversation in the room ended. "Everyone not involved in this leave now." I said.
Immediately the other Draconian left in the room got up and calmly left the room. Until their was only left Fire and me. I stared at the old lady. "That crazy lady your hiding is disturbed the king's peace. Where is she?" I said.
Elvira snarled at me as her eyes suddenly turned red and she fired fire from her eyes at me. She burned fire into my chest as stood place not noticing as the pain stabbed into my chest. I didn't move or show any pain and then I simply stared at her calmly for a few moments and then I calmly took out my revolver. The fire died down in her eyes as she glared at me shaking with hate and the stench of fear now.
"Were-breed trash. Your kind and the others have no business in my world or my city. Your day is coming soon enough." She said and spat on my face.
"Killing her won't get you the information we need." Fire said calmly.
I nodded my head. I closed my eyes to center myself and then took a breath inward. I caught the scent of a female coming from the back. I opened my eyes. "My sister asked me to do this job for her. Talk to her a bit. If you can get some truth out of this bitch then good." I said turning from her I headed past her deeper inside the business toward the back door.
"BASTARD! WHERE ARE YOU GOING! YOU AHH!" Elvira said went silent at the sound of a quick hard slap.
I moved toward the back kicking the door open as I caught the scent of another female here. I advanced forward with my revolver up. I started searching for her location letting my senses guide me as I started hunting. I felt a strange feeling before I felt Angie was beside me.
She put her hand on my shoulder. "Fall back." She said.
"I don't think she's here. It's to easy. Something is off about all this sis." I said.
"Fall back.!" Angie said again.
I nodded took a position two steps behind her. I crutched to my knee taking aim just ahead the narrow hall way.
Angie moved low with shotgun in hand and glowing sword at her side. I held my pistol ready ahead of me. My senses were alert though. I could feel that feeling that something still off. I charged up my weapon with elemental power.
The back wall exploded as a creature of earth and lightning stood in the hole and then quickly ran toward Angie as she fired off the shot gun at him. He was pushed back a few feet but he recovered and charged at her again. Angie dropped her shotgun and drew her sword at her side.
The sword glowed with a white fire and she attacked the creature slicing into it's body making marks and causing explosions to go off on it's body. She kept up her attacks though and advanced her push on it. Suddenly though another creature dropped down behind her.
I fired on the creature blasting it to dust. Angie kept up her attack though not bothering to turn around. She dodged and kept up her attack with fearsome deadly speed and kept going until she removed the creature's head and turned back toward me she walked quickly picking up her shotgun on the way. She waved me up and to follow her.
In the main room of the business I saw Elvira on the floor but alive. That was strange. Angie shook her head. "Leave her. It's not our concern. We have to find the white witch. We're close to getting her. She was here but left those sentinels to kill off her hunters. It won't be now. Keep following your instincts Danny. When you find her I'll come and assist you in the final leg of the hunt. I've narrowed down a couple of spots for your apartment. Don't worry I'll have you in a nice spot down the street from the Crossroads before the day is done." She said before tapping my shoulder and walking out of the club.
I sighed. I didn't know if I would be as successful as she was in her activity. I sighed and walked out of the entrance. Angie was gone quickly as she arrived to help. I had to ask her how she did that.
"Yo. Marcus." Fire called out to my left
I looked to my right when I heard the honk of a horn and waved Dwight over toward me. I waited as he drove up by the corner in front of me. Fire stepped up toward me and silently stood beside me.
I finally looked at her. She glared at me. "So you find out what information you could get from the old lady?" I asked.
Fire nodded. "I did. Do you want to share and pass notes on the way to the place. I got some stuff to ask you." She said.
I smiled shaking my head. "We're in competiting with each other and I'm not sharing the prize money with you. I'm looking to be broke by the end of today so."
"I'm coming with you. I got questions and I need answers to those questions." She said and quickly got into the cabby on the side of the back door. I sighed and got into the cabbie hoping inside.
