Chapter 10 - Ghosts of the past

Dwight's cabbie was no where in sight I heard a honking to my right and looked to see him driving up to toward me. I waved at him. I looked around wondering how I'm going to push forward now. I caught the scent of two females in the air. One female was from the bar she was racing off. I could track her. I just needed to get a move on quickly. The other scent was a problem for me.

My body had reacted to the other female violently. I could feel her watching me from the other side of the street. I avoided looking at her because I knew when I did it was going to be world of trouble.

"Marcus!" She called out toward me.

I didn't look up or respond to the name or knowledge the effect the voice had on me sexually. The voice was like a shot jack Daniels with honey smoke quality to it that made me horny as hell. Which would be a good thing but I was on the clock. I didn't have time for great time between the sheets.

The cabbie pulled up and the back door opened up. I finally looked up against my better judgement and froze at the sight of fate biting into my ass. The world centered on her. She was a dark haired beauty with fine creamy skin, ruby glowing eyes and a face of baby doll angel.

She had the scent of an adult female and looked at me like at me in surprise as she saw me. Not Marcus. Me. Danny Sage behind the face she thought she knew. I nodded to her in acknowledgement of being able to see deeper.

"The name is Danny Sage. What's your name, baby girl?" I asked.

She blushed at my endearment toward her in greeting. "Erica Williams. You are my mate but you are not Marcus. How is this possible?" She asked in real confusion with a hint of sexual mating call in her voice.

I shook my head. This was not a good idea but there was no chance in hell I could resist that call or smoky milk creamy mouth watering aroma to her scent. I stared at her. "Come find me at Crossroads tonight baby girl. I'll make it worth you time. I promise you." I said.

Her eyes went wide and the scent of sexual desire was in the air. I could taste it on my tongue. "Why don't you take me right now?" She said in open challenge opening her jacket to me thrusting chest out to me.

I smiled and winked at her before hoping into the back of the cabbie and closing the door behind me as it took off. I left the door open to catch my prey in the air and the scent of my mate.

The scents mingled in the air along with the Draconian. I was still able to find the girl's scent and follow it. "Make a right turn down the street." I said.

Dwight nodded turning sharply at a corner. "We're headed into the business and banking district."

I nodded. "Keep going. When I tell you stop I'll get out. You can cruise around. I'm on the hunt." I said.

"I'm on your square mate. I'm on your square." Dwight said with nod.

I nodded understanding he was with me for the long ride because big money purse he was going to get from this. I see it got it too. I caught the scent in the air of the female that was on the run heavy in a store and quickly opened the door and jumped out on to the street corner. I reached for the door at the same time she rushed out pushing me aside and took off running in long strides as I took off after her.

The female was fast and rushing through foot traffic and leaping over horses as I gained on her. There was a weird horny rush I was getting chasing this chick as I realized that wasn't human at all. She had to be a were-wolf but oddly enough I didn't get a scent impression from her. I got enough sense of rain, nature and wildness from her scent.

What the hell was she? I kept up with her as best as I could though. It felt like I was chasing after a cheetah. The female was quick and she moved with an elegant grace and great fast speed. I kept up with her as best as I could until she stopped a cabbie and jumped inside the back and took off.

"Damn it!" I roared as I stopped short as the cabbie took off and she leaned out the passenger side window and flipped me off both middle fingers.

Damn bitch.

I was winded and now my body needed some food quickly. Dwight's cabbie pulled up to my side and hopped inside and he took off. "Brother. I'm going to need to eat. Can you take me some place to get some meat. I'll foot your lunch as well for it." I said.

"I got you Sir. Just hold on tight and rest a bit. I know a bar and grill spot that's always good for something to eat and good time." He said and drove off.

I sighed sitting back. I saw a red light flashing before my eyes. I wondered about it and then touched it. My status menu popped up again with new message and my status.

Level upgrade!!

I stared at the new additions in the alliances section. Who the hell was fire?! Two mates?! What the hell?

"What's wrong with you Mate? You look somebody told your mother just got eaten by troll?" Dwight said.

I shook my head. "Nothing like that. I just checked my menu. I don't know how to handle the new additions to my alliances section."

"What's it say then? Alliances aren't a dime or dozen in Drakescape. There hard fought and won for a life time." Dwight said.

I shrugged. "I've got two mates in listing." I said.

Dwight looked at me. "What the hell is sad about that? I got a female and two mistresses on the side. It's common enough thing around here." He said.

I sighed shaking my head. "I don't even have a apartment yet. I can't afford two damn mates or wives and I don't even know who the hell is the second one is." I said.

Dwight's expression lite with understanding as he nodded his head. "Oh. I understand you. I understand you. No help for it though. It's the law of things here. The strongest gets the best females the weakest gets maybe one night with charitable lady of the night." He said with a shrug of his head. "You'll have to figure it out mate." He said with one ounce of simplify for me at all.

Just his reaction alone made me know that I might have situation like the one had in my old life. I had to get a handle on this situation before I ended carrying two assholes on my back. I closed the menu with a wave of my hand.

"Dwight. What are the females like with men they like?" I asked him.

Dwight shook his head grimacing. "Greedy. From Draconian, were-kind, fairy kind, dark stone, Iron born. Every female in this damn realm is greedy as hell. They snatch up the strongest or they share. It's the nature of things here because only the strongest can survive in this damn realm the weakest die sooner rather then later. So no. There is no getting around being tied to the best females when your the strongest male unmated or married. The best females are even more greedy and sneaky about keeping things this way." He said.

Damn nations. "Is there anything like divorce here?" I asked.

Dwight frowned and looked at me. "Divorce?! What the hell is that?" He asked.

I stared at him and heard nothing but truth in her voice. I shook my head. "Never mind brother. Just drive. I need think."

"Is Divorce some type of spell or something to make a female lose interest in a strong male?" Dwight asked.

I shook my head. "No. In my old world it was a means for the best women to use it as a means to capture assets and children of strong males and then move on to the next." I said.

Dwight shook his head. "No. There's not enough strong males in this realm to do that shit. Strength and power is everything. The Draconian are the strongest by far. Our females we take have to be able to take on our children. Were-wolves are the same way. Your people rarely mate outside of your breed or kind." He said and then parked at a corner. "Alright we're here." He said.
