"You passed, young master."
'I passed!? How?' Aiden was shocked to hear the result since he had expected to lose.
"Hmm? You look shocked; do you not remember it?" Louis said as he started being scared of the possibility that the young master's memory was worsening.
"No. No, I'm fine." Aiden said with his strange voice as he could tell what Louis was thinking.
"Thank God," Louis said as he breathed an air of relief.
"Can you leave now? I want to be alone." Aiden spoke as Louis flinched.
"Oh. I'm very sorry, young master." Louis said as he swiftly exited the room.
'So, any explanation, Eden?' Aiden thought as Eden smiled.
Clack
"Sigh. The young master is now very cold." Louis sighed in defeat as he walked through the hallway.
"I should report to the city lord that he has woken up." Louis muttered as he kept on walking.
…
"…So that's what happened." Aiden muttered as Eden nodded his head.
"Thank you, Eden. You have been saving my life a lot." Aiden said.
'Don't mention it; it's my job to protect you.' Eden said as Aiden smiled.
"Well, I guess I should focus on healing and leaving this place for now." Aiden muttered as he closed his eyes and went back to sleep.
Despite being unconscious for three days straight, Aiden fell asleep quite quickly. Unknown to him, his rest day was soon about to end.
…
Inside the city's lord's office in the mansion,
"THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS."
Louis, finding himself out of composure, shouted as he looked at the city lord.
"Ah."
Realizing what he had just done, Louis quickly bowed down.
"Please forgive me for my rudeness, but sending the young master on a huge mission that could cost his life when he hasn't even recovered properly just sounds unfair." Louis muttered as Enel, who was sitting on his chair, put down a few documents.
"There is nothing wrong here. I'm doing this to prepare him to attend the academy." He said this as he looked at Louis.
"Raise your head." He said this as Louis raised his head to look directly at Enel.
"Do you think I, a former professor at that academy, won't know anything?" Enel said as he stared directly at Louis through the veil.
"N-not at all. You are very qualified. It's just that I think the young master needs a little break." Louis felt a shiver running down his spine as he felt threatened by Enel.
"Why a break? He has had a lot of that. Inform him that, in one week, he will be going on a dungeon exploration." Enel said as he immediately kicked Louis out of the office.
"But-"
Before Louis could even retort, the scenery around him changed as he found himself out of the office.
"Ugh. His space warping skill is too much." Louis muttered as he turned around and walked away.
"Thank God he didn't use this against the young master." He muttered as he knew that the young master would have long failed the exam if he had decided to use the skill.
'But why did he not use it?' Louis stopped as he turned around and looked at the door of the office.
'D-did he want the young master to win?'
'NO. That is definitely not the case. If so, he would have long passed the young master. Then,
Sigh, he was looking down on the young master.' Louis thought as he felt a kind of relief.
It was thanks to Enel looking down on the young master that he was able to pass.
'It might be frustrating to know that he was looking down on him, but that's the reality. There will be many occasions when he will be looked down upon by the royalties at the academy; he will have to learn from this experience, and as his tutor, it is my duty to make him learn.' Louis thought as he decided what his next lesson was going to be.
…
The next day,
"Ahhhhh."
Stretching his body, Aiden woke up as he walked towards the mirror in his room.
"Hmm. No swollen body, no injuries, and full of energy. It's a great day." Aiden muttered as he looked in the mirror.
'You seem happy.' Eden commented as Aiden smiled.
'I feel like my freedom is very near.' Aiden said as he crossed his arms.
'Well, don't let your guard down. Your luck isn't that good.' Eden said it as a form of warning him.
'D-don't jinx it.' Aiden thought as he left the room.
"Good morning, young master. You bath is ready."
As always, a servant was waiting outside the room for the young master to come out of the room and inform him about the bath.
As always, Aiden nodded his head and followed the servant.
…
Clack
'Ugh. He is here.' Walking inside the dining room, Enel was there, eating his breakfast. Aiden hoped to not see his face, but guess it was unavoidable.
"Good morning, Aron."
Without even looking at who it was, Enel greeted Aiden, who felt a shiver down his spine.
'Whenever he calls that name, I get a feeling that he knows it all.' Aiden hesitated as Eden frowned.
'He shouldn't know it. And wouldn't know it unless you mess up.' He said this as he tried not to curse at Enel.
Eden was still angry at Enel for doing what he did at the exam.
"Good morning, father." Aiden said as he sat on the chair, As far away from Enel as possible.
"How is your recovery?" Enel asked as he took a sip of coffee.
"…I feel healthy now." Aiden said it with a broken voice as he felt awkward talking about recovery to the person who caused it.
'This guy has no shame.' Eden commented.
As they chatted occasionally, some servants served him breakfast.
'Hmm. It's different.'
Aiden thought he would be served the usual delicious sandwich and coffee, but instead, there were pancakes with brown syrup as a topping and some unusual blue eggs.
'W-what is this?' Aiden thought as he looked at the servant who was serving.
"…The Lord ordered us to serve this." Feeling the stare, the servant hopelessly whispered to Aiden as Aiden looked at Enel.
'I-is he doing this because he lost? Immature.' He thought as he hopelessly started to eat the pancakes.
'These blue eggs look rotten and poisoned.' Eden commented as the eggs looked abnormal compared to the ones from their past lives.
'Please shut up. I'm trying not to think about it.' Aiden said as he ate them with his eyes squinted.
Clack
As he was eating them, the door opened up as Louis walked in with his usual white robe.
"Good morning, city lord, young master." He said as he did a little bow.
Both of them nodded their heads as Louis scratched his head.
"Hmm."
"Young master. I see you are eating your favorite breakfast today." Louis said as Aiden looked towards him and tilted his head.
'What?' Aiden thought as he processed the information.
"Oh. Before you lost your memories, it used to be your favorite breakfast." Louis explained as he could tell Aiden was confused.
'This? The old owner had some bad taste.' Aiden thought, as he preferred the sandwich with meat in it. These pancakes were too sweet, and the egg looked unappealing to him.
Of course, his old life has made him able to eat anything, but he still had preferences.
"Uhh. Enough of that. Have you been informed about the mission?" Louis decided to end the topic as he started a new one.
"…Mission?"
Aiden said as he looked back at Louis.
"…So you haven't." Louis awkwardly said as he looked towards Enel.
'I-I have a very bad feeling about it.' Eden said as he could feel the air tensing up.
'Lord, please protect me.' Aiden silently prayed as he also looked towards Enel.
Enel was calmly sipping on coffee, but his calmness made Aiden's stomach churn in anxiety as he asked.
"What is this mission thing?" He asked as Enel looked towards him, took out a document from under his table, and handed it over to Aiden through one servant.
"In one week, there is going to be a dungeon exploration. The dungeon is a newly discovered one, so a lot of strong individuals will be there." Enel explained as Aiden frowned.
"What does that have to do with me?" He asked somewhat already, knowing the answer.
"You will also be going as a part of the exploration team." Enel spoke authoritatively as he took a sip of coffee.
"I refuse."
Aiden flat out rejected the idea as he opened his mouth to say some more things.
"I have already passed all the exams until now. I'm not entitled to follow your commands and do what you want."
Aiden said as his fist slightly shook under the table in slight frustration and fear.
He nearly wanted to throw the plate of pancakes in Enel's face.
'I knew the current young master would have this kind of reaction.' Louis thought.
'The city lord should have already realized that the current young master isn't a pushover like he used to be before losing his memory.'
