Chapter 13 - Goblin Invaders

"Finally, it's the elite class's turn. Watching the earlier rounds was putting me to sleep!"

The school leaders perked up when Class 1's turn arrived.

"I heard that one of the students in the elite class started with a very impressive species, a dragonkin!"

The logistics director asked curiously.

"Haha, that's Xiang Xun. Although it's just a thin trace of dragon blood, it's still something to be proud of!" Zhao Yiming laughed heartily. Though he downplayed it, his smug expression was evident to everyone.

Anything related to dragons invariably meant strength.

"That girl from the Wang family is also formidable. She got a Bronze tier-nine half-elf. If she gets a Moonwell terrain card, she'll be unstoppable!" added the propaganda minister.

"Let's see how they perform," Zhong Tianyue said, causing the school leaders to fall silent.

Xu Luo, following the school's staff, reached a simulation pod.

"Xu Luo, don't get eliminated too quickly; it would be boring otherwise. I'm curious about your mutated species!"

A voice rang out beside him. It was Xiang Xun.

Xu Luo glanced at him, annoyed. Did he come over just to say that? But then he noticed their pods were right next to each other.

"Mind your own business," Xu Luo replied indifferently.

He wasn't going to bother with Xiang Xun. If pushed too far, he might just crush Xiang Xun's divine realm.

Two hundred students entered the simulation pods.

"Do you think anyone from our school will be selected for the global league?" Zhong Tianyue suddenly asked.

"This year's Class 1 has several prodigies. Xiang Xun and Wang Xiaoling are sure to get into the Luojing Divine University in three years. But the global league..." The head instructor shook his head.

Getting into Luojing Divine University and being selected for the global league were two different things. Last year, fewer than ten students from the entire Tianhai region were selected, and Sixth Middle School had none. Even though Xiang Xun and Wang Xiaoling were good, they didn't compare to last year's rookie king, Yang Tiange, who didn't make the cut either.

Zhong Tianyue sighed. Xiang Xun was indeed exceptional, starting with a Bronze tier-eight dragonkin warrior and advancing to tier-nine, fully armed. But he knew that in another school, a prodigy had already cultivated a Silver-tier species, a gap too vast to bridge.

His gaze fell on Xu Luo. As the principal, he knew many things others didn't, such as this crazy kid's exploits over the past month. He hoped Xu Luo could bring a pleasant surprise.

Even the seasoned Zhong Tianyue found his heart racing when he thought about Xu Luo's recent actions.

Unaware of these thoughts, Xu Luo lay in the simulation pod, listening to the mechanical voice.

"Connecting to divine realm, connecting to sub-plane... Connection complete. The assessment begins. Please defend your divine realm core against the invasion."

With the mechanical prompt, Xu Luo's consciousness returned to his divine realm, though he felt a subtle barrier, making it less smooth than using the game pod.

Entering his divine realm, Xu Luo saw a massive rift tearing open in the southeastern sky, revealing glimpses of another dimension.

During normal invasions, Xu Luo would send the mayflies ahead. But since this was a simulation, gathering evolution points was pointless, so he left them idle.

To his surprise, the invaders this time were goblins, just like Xiang Yang's species.

The normally docile goblins sensed the divine realm's presence and, led by a few staff-wielding goblins, began pouring out of their dens and charging towards the divine realm.

"So many?"

Xu Luo's expression turned serious. The first monthly exam was crucial, and he hadn't expected this many goblins, including warriors, champions, and mages.

Goblins might seem weak individually, but in numbers and with weapons, they were formidable. They were cunning, cruel, and highly aggressive, forming tribes and even kingdoms in the World of Gods.

No wonder so many students couldn't last ten minutes against such invaders. This level of challenge was tough to withstand.

For Xu Luo, however, it was a relief. "Seems like I got lucky."

Such numbers posed no threat to him. He commanded a portion of his Mantis Bugs and Beetles to engage, leaving the Acid Bugs out to keep his full strength hidden.

With thousands watching, he didn't want to reveal his true capabilities. His accumulated strength over the past month would shock his peers.

Ten thousand Mantis Bugs and five thousand Beetles emerged from the underground nests. Though overkill, it served as a deterrent, showing he wasn't to be underestimated.

Fifteen thousand was just right to defeat the invaders without attracting too much attention.

He was on the blacklist of other civilizations. If he exposed too much in reality, the consequences would be dire.

The goblins, totaling 1,200 Bronze tier-four warriors, 50 tier-five champions, and 5 tier-six mages, charged into his realm with fervor, wielding wooden spears and stone axes.

Despite their crude weapons, the goblins' cunning and ferocity made them dangerous.

The battle began, with the goblins meeting the insectoid army head-on. The Mantis Bugs, with their mantis-like blades and agility, and the heavily armored Beetles formed a formidable front line.

Xu Luo's calculated response ensured that the goblins were overwhelmed, their formations shattered by the relentless assault.

With the simulation over, Xu Luo's victory was clear, showcasing his tactical prowess and the strength of his Zerg army without revealing the full extent of his capabilities.

This performance would surely leave an impression on his peers and the school leaders, proving that he was a force to be reckoned with in the coming months.
