Myles turned around and spotted a dazzling young man with a short messy hairstyle standing in front of him.
"Vincent is that you?" Myles his voice carrying doubt.
Vincent was one of the few true friends that he had. He was very close to him. Unfortunately, he became very busy when he moved abroad for higher studies. He had no contact with him until now.
"Yeah it's me," Vincent replied as he walked towards him.
"What are you doing here?" Myles asked, he sounded very surprised.
Even though the answer was obvious. He still asked since Vincent never played any games!
"Playing Aetheris Online, I spawned outside of the kingdom like you. Let's have a chat; we had lots of catching up to do," Vincent replied with a shrug.
Myles nodded his head. He chatted with Vincent for around 30 minutes. Of course, he didn't tell him anything about his financial crisis.
He asked Vincent some questions about the game.
"Did you fill in the form?" Myles asked, his voice carrying curiosity.
"Yeah," Vincent replied.
"Do you know how long it will take for us to receive our citizenship?" Myles asked.
"I think it might take some time. I am going to log out soon. What about you?" Vincent replied.
"I think I will also log out and play tomorrow," Myles said.
"Wanna play and hang out together tomorrow just like old times?" Vincent said with a smile.
Myles smiled when heard. He nodded his head signaling his consent.
"Great, I have sent a friend request to you. Please accept it" Vincent said with a smile.
Myles nodded and opened up his status window. He tapped on the friend's tab, and a notification flashed in his at that moment.
(You have received a friend request from player Vincent)
(Do you want to accept)
Myles subconsciously said yes.
(You have accepted the friend request)
"Done," Myles said.
Afterward, they chatted for a few minutes. Vincent gave him his phone number.
"Contact me using this number tomorrow. Let me know when you are online in the game. I will probably enter Aetheris Online very early in the morning." Vincent said
"I will let you know tomorrow morning," Myles replied.
"Btw if you don't mind me asking. Which category does your class fall into?" Myles asked.
"My class belongs to the Mechanical Fighter category. I use various guns to fight" Vincent replied.
They began to chat for the next few minutes. The chat didn't last for long though. Vincent stood, intending to log out.
"This is it, for now, Myles. Take care" Vincent said
"Farewell for now, friend," Myles said with a smile on his face.
Vincent smiled back as his body started to dissipate into countless small fragments, signaling that he had logged out.
"I should also log out; there isn't much to do anymore. Moreover, I have something important to do" Myles thought to himself.
He still hadn't received his temporary citizenship so he couldn't leave. As for Pvping? The guards will be the first ones to kill anyone who tries to cause any trouble!
"Logout" Myles said subconsciously.
Right after he issued his commands, his body began to dissipate into countless small fragments causing his surroundings to become dark.
A notification flashed in his retina shortly after.
(Logout successful. Please remove the console from your head)
As Myles removed the console from his head, his entire body was feeling very sticky. Myles removed the console from his head allowing him to regain his vision.
He saw that his entire body was drenched in sweat.
"Ugh, I should take a bath." Myles thought to himself.
He stood up and connected the charger of the console to a socket. Then he kept the console on top of the charge for it to charge.
He grabbed a pair of clothes and a towel. He rushed towards the bathroom to freshen up.
A few minutes later.
Myles was currently sitting in front of his desk doing some calculations on his laptop.
He had freshened up a few minutes ago.
A frown had formed on his forehead as he stared at the laptop.
"I only have enough money to run for 5 months. After that, my bank balance will be zero. I need to think what should I do" Myles mumbled with a serious look on his face.
He closed his eyes as he pondered what to do.
"If I can't earn any money by playing Aetheris Online in 3 months. I will go and try to find a job." Myles thought after careful consideration.
Myles won't have a choice at this point. Without any income, he won't be able to buy food causing him to starve to death.
"Let's gather some information from the official forums of Aetheris Online," Myles thought to himself.
Myles quickly logged into the official forums of Aetheris Online. Upon logging in, he stumbled across millions of posts! Thousands of posts were being made with each passing seconds!
Myles skipped all the useless posts and began to scroll through the trending posts. As he was scrolling, he came across something interesting.
"This looks interesting," Myles thought to himself.
He clicked on the scroll and an article posted by an unknown player came into his view. He read the article carefully, not daring to miss even a single word.
(Title: Kingdom ranking.
Article:....)
Myles skimmed through the article until he came across the most important paragraph of the article.
(Article:
...….
The kingdoms are ranked by their military might and technological development. The kingdoms are graded from 1 star to 3 stars from the info I have gathered.
When a kingdom believes that they possess the qualifications to be promoted to the next grade. Afterward, what happens? I am not sure. More info is needed to know what happens next.
There may be a higher star kingdom but I am not sure.
...….)
Myles didn't read the rest of the article since the player who posted this article was barraging how good he was at finding secrets.
He had guessed something similar so he wasn't too surprised.
He looked at the comments of the post to see how people were reacting. Most of them were saying positive things about this article.
Added together with a billion views and comments, this article was probably authentic.
"Let's look for something else," Myles thought to himself.
He closed the articles and began to look for something else in the forums.
After looking for a few minutes, he didn't find anything worthy of his attention
He thought about what to do next. A few seconds later, he remembered something.
He quickly typed something on his laptop and hundreds of websites appeared on his laptop.
Each of these websites was selling Aetheris Online goods for real money.
"As expected, a third-party website has already started selling Aetheris Online goods for real money.
It's possible to make a living by playing Aetheris Online, " Myles thought to himself with a smile.
As someone who was expecting to make a living playing Aetheris Online. This was a very good development.
Most of the goods were low-tier common goods being sold for not that much money. However, Myles knew that this would change when players started to get their hands on rarer and high-tier goods.
Myles turned his laptop off and closed it with satisfaction. He stretched his bed before getting up.
"I will go to sleep now since I will have to play Aetheris Online tomorrow," Myles thought to himself.
As for finding a suitable location to meet up with Vincent. He decided to think about it tomorrow.
Just as he was about to get up and rush to his bedroom. His phone beeped signaling that a notification appeared on it.
Myles picked up his mobile and read the message. As he read the notification flashing in his retina, he smiled slightly.
(Riley: Wanna play Aetheris Online with me tomorrow).
(Title: The difference between the new generation and the old generation.
Article: ....)
The post didn't wasn't that popular. It was sitting with 500k views and a few thousand likes. That was all but the title of the post got his attention.
"Let's read the article" Myles mumbled.
He clicked on the beast, redirecting him to the article. The moment he clicked on the article, line after line of words appeared on the screen.
He skimmed past the unimportant parts. He only carefully began to read when he came across the important part
(Title: The difference between new generation and old generation
Article:
...…..
According to the information that I have gathered, the main difference between the members of the old and new generation is the type of weapons they use.
The members of the new generation way of combat by using guns, mechanical melee weapons, modern explosives, and much more
As for the members of the old generation, they have stuck to the old way of combat by using normal weapons such as swords, spears, axes, bows, shields, daggers, great swords, and much much more.
Modern weapons provide a lot of advantages compared to old weapons. However, a lot of people have decided to stick with the old way of combat despite its advantages.
Moreover, the people who choose the old way of combat have a good reason to do so!! They have stuck to the old way of combat not just because of their love for the old way but also because of the benefits that it provides.
Not much is known about the benefits that sticking to the old way of combat provides. The only thing I know is that those who choose the old way of combat are much stronger than their modern counterparts at higher grades. The higher you grade, the bigger the gap between your modern counterparts. Further info is needed to determine what benefits being a member of the old generation provides at higher grades.
...…)
Myles carefully read the article not daring to miss the important parts. After reading the articles, he realized the chances of this article being true were very high.
After all, the guard.
"Let's have a look at the comment," Myles mumbled as he opened up the comment section.
