Myles followed closely behind him, not daring to fall behind by even a single step.
They soon exited the narrow road and arrived at a road that was crowded with people. The majority of the people walking down the streets wore rags.
As Myles looked at them, he couldn't help but a frown formed on his head. He just couldn't accept that his kingdom was so poor!!
Maybe Vincent might know a thing or two. Hence, he decided to ask him directly.
"Vincent is a 1-star kingdom like this one usually so poor", Myles asked.
"Why are you thinking about this? Is it because of their clothes? '' Vincent asked, his voice carrying seriousness.
"Yeah, just look at the clothes of its citizens, '' Myles said, just loud enough for Vincent to hear.
"The Kingdom is far from poor," Vincent said as he shook his head.
"Oh? Do you know something?" Myles asked, his voice carrying curiosity
Vincent nodded his head in approval, proving that he was correct.
"From the info that I have gathered from morning up until now. I have found that the kingdom is divided into several parts, mainly the outer edges, the inner part, the core part, and the heart of the kingdom.
The poorest and those without any abilities live in the outer edges and we are currently in the outer edges. The people in the outer edges are essentially a bit better than beggars.
The normal citizens reside in the inner part of the kingdom. You will only find a lot fighters in the inner part of the kingdom.
Those who reside in the core part are the rich and those with a lot of skills. There are also some important facilities in the core part.
The heart of the kingdom hosts the palace of the royal family and other very important facilities. Only nobles and their subordinates reside there" Vincent explained.
Myles became slightly surprised when he heard but it didn't last for long. Since he knew people without money or skills are worthless both in the game and the real world.
A realization struck him as he was walking forward a few seconds later.
"If the people are so poor then our employers probably won't pay us too much for our efforts," Myles said after realizing this fact.
Vincent smiled bitterly when he heard this.
"You are right but remember we are players. Even if we don't get that much money, the exp we gain will make up for it" Vincent replied with a bitter smile.
"I believe that looking for jobs in the inner part of the kingdom is far better," Myles suggested.
"It is not that simple since you will have to pay a fee of 50000 universal coins to be granted entry to the inner part of the kingdom" Vincent exclaimed as he shook his head.
Upon hearing this Myles fell silent. Since there was no way that he could fork out 50000 universal coins! In the end, he couldn't help but forget about it.
"What kind of mission do you have?" Myles asked a few minutes later.
"You will know when we get there, '' Vincent replied bluntly.
Over the next few minutes, Myles tried to get him to tell him what was the contents of their mission. However, Vincent stubbornly kept his mouth shut.
Left with no choice, Myles continued to follow Vincent with a sigh.
Half an hour passed away in the blink of an eye.
"We have arrived at our destination," Vincent said as he pointed his finger in a certain direction.
They halted their steps shortly after Vincent pointed his finger toward a building.
Myles scanned the building that he pointed toward from top to bottom. The building was taller than the majority of the buildings around them.
It also looked much sturdier than the other building. Probably due to the use of more useful materials.
"Let's go inside," Vincent said a second later.
Myles nodded and headed inside. The door of the building automatically opened up, almost like greeting them.
Upon their arrival, Myles carefully scanned his surroundings. The floors were made up of white shining tiles. The wall was painted white. The entire place seemed to be lit up by something similar to an LED bulb.
As he looked around him, he saw a beautiful woman walking towards them.
"How much I help you?" The woman asked.
"We want to meet with Mr James, we have an appointment with him. Can you please check?" Vincent asked.
"State your names," The woman asked.
"My name is Devil Gunner. As for him, he's a friend I'm supposed to bring along to participate in the job you requested, so his name isn't in the records." Vincent replied calmly.
"Using an alias name, huh?" Myles thought to himself.
The woman, wordless, began to flip one page after another in search of his name. Using this time, Vincent sent him a message using the built-in message system of the game.
A notification flashed in Myles's retina. Myles carefully read the message.
(Vincent: Have you thought of an alias)
Myles replied to his message hence entering a short chatting session.
(Myles: Yeah but I don't understand why they are accepting our Alias. It is clear that it's our fake name)
(Vincent: They don't care about our identity. All they care about is getting their work done)
Myles didn't chat any further. He turned his attention towards the woman.
The woman confirmed that they had an appointment. She diverted her attention towards Myles very soon.
"Please state your name. I will lead you to Sir Daniel's office after that, "the woman said.
As if almost expecting this, Myles answers in an instant.
"Call me Celestial Swordkeeper" Myles replied after careful consideration.
The woman wrote down his name in her notebook. The woman began to walk in a certain direction as she signaled them to follow her. Without uttering a single word, Myles and Vincent obeyed her.
A few minutes later, they arrived in front of a thick steel door. The door was not locked so the woman went inside while signaling them to stand still.
The woman didn't stay there for too long, returning within a minute.
"You may enter," The woman said.
Myles and Vincent entered immediately, not wasting even a second. Upon entering, Myles spotted a large table and three in the center where a middle-aged man was sitting.
Aside from the table, there were nearly a dozen bookshelves which were full of books.
The middle-aged man gave them a friendly stare upon their arrival.
"Please have a seat," The middle-aged man said.
Although uncomfortable they did as asked and sat down a few seconds later. They didn't immediately start to talk. Instead, they kept staring at one another, as if to probe deep into each other's souls!
A few seconds later, the middle-aged retracted his stare and broke the silence.
"So Vincent, is this guy your friend?" The middle-aged man said.
Vincent nodded his head in approval. The middle-aged man directed his stare at Myles.
"Which class category do you fall into?" The middle-aged man asked Myles.
"I fell in the Holy Warrior class category. I am a Grade: E Swordsman sir." Myles replied calmly.
However, the middle-aged man did look impressed. He was pretty sure that he would recruit him. After all, he was very low on time. Moreover, he probably won't find any figure above grade:E in a short time, especially in the outer edges of the kingdom.
After what felt like, the middle-aged man finally replied.
"You are qualified for this mission. If you are interested, then I can tell you what job you will have to do first before you make your final decision," The middle-aged man said.
Both Myles and Vincent signaled him to continue.
"So you see, I export goods from the inner part of the kingdom and sell them all over the outer edges. However, for the last few days, my transportation armed vehicle has been attacked by unknown people who stole all my goods. This has happened multiple times over the last month.
A very important Transportation armored vehicle is arriving today, and I urgently need to strengthen its security.
All you need to do is ensure my vehicle reaches my warehouse safely. Are you willing to accept this job?" The middle-aged man exclaimed, his voice carrying seriousness.
