ATHENA
I shut my eyes and curl into a tight ball, expecting to feel my body explode in pain. Something does explode above me and suddenly, showers of dust land on my skin and nose, choking me.
I cough over and over, trying to dispel the dust from my throat and mouth.
"Goodness, Miss Athena. Are you okay?!" Davina's frantic voice cuts into my daze.
While I'm still trying to figure out if I'm dead or alive, someone rolls me over and cold fingers run over my skin, probably trying to search for injuries.
"I'm so sorry, Miss Athena. The boss will kill me." Davina whispers.
I blink my eyes open to find a group of three men above me, standing behind Davina. Their expressions are hard and cruel, and they don't seem the least bit sorry for what just happened.
Who are they?
"Step away from the suspect, Miss Davina." One of the men growls.
Beside me, I feel Davina freeze.
"What?"
"I said, step away from the suspect!"
