ATHENA
"…Show me that you really want the job. Kneel and beg me for it..."
For a moment, I say nothing. I'm too busy being stunned. Then Beverly giggles, snapping me back to the present.
"What a wonderful idea, Zara." She squeals, playing with her hair. "I mean, if she really wants the job, kneeling should be nothing."
I shake my head. "You want me to kneel in front of all these people?"
"Of course." Zara chimes. "I'm really helping you out here. Kneeling is nothing compared to the financial relief this deal will bring to you and your company."
A part of me screams that the embarrassment is not worth it. A part of me wants to turn around and run away. But another part of me reminds me of the mountain of unpaid debts attached to my name.
Maybe they're right. Kneeling is not that big a deal.
"What are you waiting for?" Beverly sneers. "Go down on your knees and beg her for the job. Kneel."
