Chereads / Red Moon (He Is Mine) / Chapter 2 - The Red-Eyed Wolf

Chapter 2 - The Red-Eyed Wolf

A man with a body covered in blood after being beaten by debt collectors. The man managed to escape with what was left of his strength. Shane Walton is a tall, tan-skinned man with clear gray eyes and muscles. He continued to walk, limping with no idea where he was going.

His grandmother had just died from an illness. Shane felt that his life had no meaning anymore. However, Shane didn't want to die silly at the hands of debt collectors. Shane's parents have been dead since he was seven years old, due to a car accident. Shane ended up living with his grandparents.

After his grandfather died about three years ago, his grandmother was often sick. He who only works as a bartender, is still lacking money for his grandmother's treatment. Not to mention the cost of renting the house he and his grandmother live in, which increases every year.

Not to mention the cost of living for their daily meals which are also not cheap, even though the food they eat is only ordinary food. Besides working as a bartender at a nightclub, Shane delivers newspapers in the morning and works at a car wash in the afternoon. If there was a job that Shane could do at one time, he would do it. Despite the many jobs he took, Shane still couldn't make ends meet for himself and his grandmother.

Shane continued to step into an increasingly deserted area. He had entered an area that he should not have entered. However, Shane's body, which was already weak but forced to continue walking, did not read the signs that the area was dangerous. In a forest area that was so dark, there was only lighting from the moonlight tonight.

The deeper he went, the deeper the city where he lived was swallowed up in the dark forest he entered.

Shane stopped walking, sitting on a large root of a very old-looking tree. The sound of a long howl now greeting his eardrums made Shane stand up again and walk to find a house so that Shane could ask for help from others.

His legs continued to move with a body that was already very weak. In fact, if it wasn't for his will, he would still want to live even though his life was meaningless because Shane no longer had a family. Whether it was a miracle or what, Shane also saw a large and tall black gate in front of him. It was like getting a big light because he could finally find a house to ask for help. He tried to knock on the gate.

The door was so big that he didn't know how the person inside could hear him asking for help. The howl of the wolf was so loud that it was deafening. Shane turned his body because he felt someone was watching. His eyes rounded when he saw a pair of burning red eyes in front of him. Not to mention, there were several other pairs of bright orange eyes staring at him.

It turned out to be the eyes of a pack of savage-looking wolves. Shane tried to knock harder on the door with what was left of his strength. The pair of red eyes continued to walk closer to Shane. Shane, who was scared, finally closed his eyes. Her heart was beating rapidly as the red-eyed wolf walked closer to her.

Fear and a rapidly beating heart made Shane completely close his eyes. The lack of oxygen that he breathed in to enter his lungs made Shane finally faint.

A man was sleeping comfortably on a bed that was so soft and comfortable. His body was covered with a white blanket. Slowly, his eyes moved and finally opened. The man blinked his eyes several times to adjust the lighting entering his corneas. Now that his eyes were fully open, one hand was raised to block the light that hit his eyes.

Shane, the man who had just woken up from his sleep immediately sat up because he remembered the incident before he fainted. His eyes immediately looked around him, "where am I?" he asked no one in particular.

Shane's eyes continued to scan his surroundings to see if there was anything he had forgotten to wake up in such a spacious and luxurious room. The all-white room, with its wooden furnishings, was comfortable to look at. He got out of bed and walked over to the window, whose curtains were waving in the wind.

Shane was on the second floor of the house when he pulled back the curtains. A large trellised window greeted his view. He looked out the window, and it was refreshing to see all kinds of greenery. There were apple trees in front of him. The fruit looked so fresh, it made Shane swallow his saliva hard.

The sound of the door opening made Shane immediately turn his body around. A man wearing a black shirt with the top two buttons open and black material pants entered his room. "You're finally awake, little man," the man said with a faint smile. Perhaps with the distance between them, Shane wouldn't have seen the smile of the man who helped him.

Those brownish-black eyeballs now seemed to be scanning Shane's already fine body. "Are you the owner of this house?" asked Shane without caring what the man in front of him said.

"Yes, I am the owner. Why?" the man asked, and his voice sounded cold in Shane's hearing.

"Thank you," said Shane.

The man frowned, his right eyebrow raised in confusion as to why Shane was saying thank you.

"Thank you for helping me. If you hadn't helped me, I might have become the meal of a pack of wolves in the forest," Shane said, smiling until his eyes narrowed.

The man in front of Shane was speechless at Shane's smile. For some reason, his heart was beating fast like this. What was wrong with his heart? Why did the smile of the man he saved make his heart suddenly feel like a drum being beaten?

"Don't you feel any pain?" the man asked as he walked over to Shane, who was also walking towards him.

"Nothing, my body feels very fresh," replied Shane, who smiled again.

"This is really strange, even though my body was very weak last night and it feels impossible to hope that I can survive," said Shane, who then looked at his hands.

Shane frowned when he didn't see the wound on his black shirt. He rolled up the sleeves of his shirt to his elbows, but there were no bruises at all. He ran toward what he believed to be the bathroom door, making the man helping Shane wonder. "What's wrong with that little guy?" the man asked.

Even though Shane's body was big and tall, to the man who helped Shane, Shane's body was small and unkempt. A weak man with no energy at all. But the scent of Shane's body attracted him a little, so he finally helped Shane.
