"Tsk! Do you have to kill people just because they don't pay their debts?" Arthur asked as he clucked in annoyance.
The spoon he was using to eat his soup was put down roughly as he pounded on the table, leaving Shane surprised by Arthur's actions just now.
"Maybe he took offense at my words. But he started it first, saying that my grandmother shouldn't be treated," Shane said.
"That's right, his mouth is begging to be destroyed!" Arthur's anger and the red flash that appeared in Arthur's cornea made Shane suddenly scared.
Those red eyes reminded him of the red-eyed wolf that walked towards him that night. It was really scary at that time. However, he didn't know what happened that night because his eyes were closed tightly until he woke up this morning.
"Good morning, sir," greeted a tall man with brown skin and gray eyes. A man who looked older than Arthur. But despite his age, he still looked very dashing.
"What's wrong?" asked Arthur with a cold tone of voice and a sharp look at his subordinate.
"The car is ready, sir," said the subordinate.
"Tsk! It's still over seven o'clock!" Arthur was annoyed.
"I'm sorry, sir, but today there is a meeting scheduled at the company. It's a collaboration with the Techno Enginare company," said his subordinate.
"Does it have to be this early? Didn't you see I was having breakfast?" asked Arthur angrily.
"I'm sorry, sir, the schedule is early," the subordinate replied again.
"You didn't manage my schedule, huh?" got Arthur angry.
"I'm sorry, sir, it's my negligence in taking care of the new secretary," replied the subordinate.
"Fire him!" said Arthur.
Shane couldn't understand Arthur's actions. Just because he didn't like going to work early in the morning, he had to fire his secretary.
"Excuse me if I interrupt," Shane said, causing Arthur and his subordinates to stare at Shane."What?" snapped Arthur.
"Can't you just fire her? He hasn't been on the job long, there are bound to be mistakes. Give him a chance to fix it," Shane said as he looked at Arthur.
"I don't like mistakes!" said Arthur.
"Yes, you don't like mistakes. But, just once, you give him a chance. If he repeats it, you can fire him immediately. You can reprimand him first, so he doesn't do it again," said Shane.
"Sorry if I interfered. It's just that I'm also a worker, so I know what it's like to be fired without getting a chance to fix it," said Shane then bowed his head.
"Tsk!" laughed Arthur.
"Teach him right, I don't want any more mistakes! All the things I told you not to do, don't do them again! Or you will receive your punishment, Fred!" said Arthur whose eyes turned red as he looked at his subordinate, Frederick Girham.
Shane narrowed his eyes in fear. Images of the wolf that night flashed through his mind. How could Arthur's eyes be like that, like the eyes of the wolf he met.
"I'm going to the office, if you need anything, just tell the maid," Arthur said, making Shane open his eyes and look at Arthur.
Shane also stood up from his seat. "Can I have a ride? I can't stay here for long, I still have work to do. I promise, I'll reimburse you for your expenses while you're here. But I hope you can wait because I still have other responsibilities," Shane said.
"Work here," Arthur said.
"You mean, I work in this house?" asked Shane.
"Yes, you work here, and all your debts will be paid off," said Arthur.
"No, this is my responsibility. I should be paying off my own debts," Shane refused.
"You're paying off your debt by working with me, isn't that the same as paying off your own debt?" Arthur asked with a smile.
"Think again, I'll see you tonight. And I don't accept your refusal," Arthur said, walking away.
Shane stared at Arthur's departure, Arthur's words were true. He worked with Arthur, and Arthur paid off his debt. That meant that as long as he worked, wouldn't he not be paid? So, how would he live? He needed to eat, drink, and buy other equipment.
"What if I don't get paid because the money is to pay off a debt?" he asked no one in particular.
"I should ask him, but..." Shane paused his sentence. "Huft... I don't have his number, I left my phone at the bar," he sighed and hung his head.
"Sir, here's the food," said a waitress who delivered the morning's main course.
"Steak in the morning?" asked Shane incredulously.
"Yes, would you like something else?" the waitress asked.
"No need, ma'am," Shane replied, sitting back in his chair.
"Oh yes, don't call me sir, ma'am. Just call me Shane," said Shane.
"Sorry, sir, I can't," said the middle-aged woman.
"Why can't you? I asked you to call me Shane," asked Shane in surprise.
"You are Mr. Arthur's guest, so we cannot call you by name," the middle-aged woman replied.
"Would Arthur be angry if a guest like me was called a name?" asked Shane in surprise.
"Yes, sir," replied the middle-aged woman.
"Strange man," said Shane.
"Then you'll have to excuse me, sir. Enjoy your breakfast," said the middle-aged woman.
"Wait, I haven't met you yet," said Shane.
"I'm Elia, the head maid in this house," the middle-aged woman said with a smile.
"Mrs. Elia, can I borrow your cell phone to call someone?" asked Shane seriously.
"Just call me Elia, Mr. Shane," Elia said. "For cell phones, sorry, sir, we don't have cell phones here. Only the people who work to follow Mr. Arthur wherever he goes have cell phones," said Elia with a smile.
"So, how do you contact your family?" asked Shane in surprise.
"I don't have a family anymore, sir," Elia replied, still smiling.
"Ah, sorry," said Shane feeling bad.
"If there is nothing else that is needed, I have permission to continue working again, sir," said Elia.
"Yes," Shane replied briefly.
Elia left the dining room and started to eat his steak. His eyes closed when he felt the delicious meat he was eating. The soft meat and juicy flavor of the meat not to mention the delicious sauce. This was the first time he had ever tasted meat this good.
After eating, he tidied up his plate and would take it to the kitchen, unfortunately, he didn't know where the kitchen was. He didn't notice where Elia had gone. "Elia, where did she go?" he asked as his eyes looked around him.
Suddenly, Elia was standing next to his body, making Shane startled as he stared at her side. "Oh my, Elia," Shane said as he closed his eyes in surprise.
"Can I help you, sir?" she asked with a smile.
"I'd take this to the kitchen, but I don't know where the kitchen is," Shane replied, looking at Elia.
"Just leave it on the table, sir, the maid will clean it up later," Elia said, still smiling.
"Ah, I see. I'm sorry, I'm used to doing it myself at home, so it's strange to just put the used plates and glasses on the dining table," Shane said as he scratched the back of his neck, which was not itchy.
