Chapter 26 - 12. Motivation (part 2)

The morning jog eventually came to an end, and both Nathan and I went back to our dorm to clean up. After showering and preparing ourselves very quickly, we headed to the class building for some introductory class by the student council.

The introduction class is a must-attend event for all the new students in the first year, and attending it will give us all the knowledge that we needed about the academy. Hence, it's something that we have to attend no matter what.

My body was literally aching all over from forcing myself to run in the morning. As a result, I had to walk limply to the classes building with Nathan's help.

During our walk, we went past a group of female students who were hanging around the lobby. Seeing the girls laughing and cheering as they talked to each other made me realize just how much I needed to train myself.

"One day… Nathan." I suddenly muttered after we walked past the group of first year girls. "One day, I'll become so handsome that even you'd cry!"

"What's with the weird declaration?" Nathan stared at me annoyed, and I was confused as to what I said wrong. "Forget it. Let's go to class and see our new classmates."

Right. Our classmates. I forgot about that.

Arriving at our classroom, all eyes present in the room immediately fell upon us. I studied the classroom and realized the faces who were present in the room. There were some who were grouping up to introduce each other, and there were also some who sat alone by themselves.

Amongst those who sat in a group is him. Regie, my younger cousin who is two years younger than me. The highest prospect for the holy knight position of the earth nation.

Regie immediately landed his eyes on me alongside his new friends, and I noticed he was staring at me quite intensely. I just turned away from him and followed where Nathan was heading.

"Good morning! I didn't see you girls while jogging, earlier." Nathan greets Lily and Nyssa who was sitting at the very front seat, and he picks the seat behind them as our seat.

"Well, we saw the kind of training you were doing with Jonah… and we decided not to join." Lily said with an apologetic stare at me, and I laughed a little.

"Well… it was really rough." I said honestly, and Lily hummed from thinking.

"By the way, Jonah. If Nathan is pushing you too hard, you're free to yell back at him. Don't let him bully you!" Lily said to me, but Nathan felt attacked.

"I didn't bully him! He ran by his own choice!"

"Then, how come he is saying it was rough??"

"Well, it was bound to be rough!"

The two ended up arguing about whether or not the training was too cruel, but I only sat down next to Nathan with a soft smile. Nathan's cruelty was only a tenth of what my father used to do to me. It was really nothing when compared.

I lifted my hand that had a bright golden bracelet on it, and I ordered it to take out a book. To my surprise, the storage bracelet did not listen, and no books were taken out.

O-Oh… I must've left it at the dorm…

I apologetically turned to Nathan, and I hurriedly stopped him from arguing with Lily. "Nathan… can you share the orientation book with me? I left mine at the dorm…"

Nathan quickly turned his annoyed stare at me, and I can tell he is very disappointed. "I already warned you to not forget. Right after you came out of the bath."

"Sorrryyyy~…" I cupped both my hands and apologized, and Nathan only let out a sigh.

"Ah. I also forgot my book." Next to Lily, the cute voice of a surprised Nyssa was heard.

Lily turned her glare to her roommate and noticed that Nyssa really didn't bring her orientation book. "Seriously…? I placed your book on top of the table."

"I think the color just blends too well with the table." Nyssa tries reasoning, but Lily only lets out an annoyed sigh.

"The book is bright blue. The table is brown."

"I'm colorblind."

"No, you're not! Wait, are you!?" Lily quickly realized that possibility, but Nyssa only smirked.

"Nope."

She really got Lily good. Lily then turned around to look at Nathan with a really sad expression.

"Nathan, what should I do…? My roommate's a mess." Lily asked so genuinely that Nyssa only stared at her so annoyed.

"It's the same thing over here… you should've seen how much I tried waking this guy up for the morning jog." Nathan said with a really annoyed stare at me, and I only tilted my eyes away.

"Oh my god, same! Nyssa is also a heavy sleeper. Wow, we're both so diligent." Lily's face immediately turned bright after finding a new similarity between her and Nathan, and it looks like the guy is also really happy.

He really can't hit on girls without humiliating me, can he?

"You two are annoying." Nyssa said with her usual plain tone, but I can tell she had a little hint of anger in her voice.

So, that's the difference… I always thought she just talks that way every time. But, it's actually possible to tell the difference once you've heard enough talk from her.

"It's your fault for not bringing the orientation book! Now, do you want to share the book or not?" Lily asked while handing the book over, but Nyssa just folded her hands.

"Don't need it."

"This little bastard thinks you're so cool, huh?" Lily sounded so pissed that even Nathan found it funny.

"Jonah." From behind, a voice called out to me. I turned my gaze to the right and found Regie approaching me from behind.

"Regie…"

"I want to apologize. I said some mean things to you to rile you up at the combat test. Otherwise, I'm afraid you're just going to give up and surrender." Regie said what he felt, and I was really surprised.

"I-It's okay… I don't really mind it. Besides, I should thank you. Otherwise, I'll just give up like you said." I said while waving my hand around.

Next to me, I noticed Nathan staying silent and just listening in on the conversation. I didn't really tell him anything about my life problems or whatever, but he must've caught on as to how I'm acting towards Regie.

"That's true. That is the kind of person you are. Giving up has always been your thing." Regie said while folding his hands, and I became a little pissed hearing that.

But, I can't fight him. Not now, when we're at class. Even if we can go all out, he will just win anyway. He is father's favorite, after all.

"Well, you're right. That is my thing..." I said while giggling, and Regie only shook his head at me.

"Well, it's fine. Don't mind it too much. The holy knight position will eventually fall to me, so you can rest easy." Regie then turned around and walked away, and I was left sitting here biting my own lips.

I closed my eyes while trying not to think about it, but then a hand wrapped around my neck. I turned my gaze to the person next to me, and I saw Nathan giving me a thumbs up.

"Remember your goals, and remember your current state. Knowing those two things will ensure you to go past any obstacle you're going to go through!" Nathan said with utmost confidence, and I realized he is cheering me up.

I laughed a little at him and just let go of his hand wrapping my neck. "It's not that easy, man."

Yeah… it was never that easy. If it was indeed that easy, then father wouldn't have taught me so cruelly. If it was that easy, then I wouldn't have lost my race against Regie.

My life… has never been easy.

But, it seems like that answer was not enough to convince Nathan.

"If those things aren't enough, then remember what you see when you practiced earlier." Nathan said, and I became confused while trying to remember.

What I… saw?

Immediately visions arrived into my mind. The memory of God was shown before my eyes, and the flash of images from the scenery I saw this morning has returned to my unfaithful brain. And once again, I became a firm believer of the true path of righteousness.

Right… all this time, I've been a complete idiot.

Being the holy knight? Who cares about that? Losing my fame and money? Who gives a damn about that?

There is only one thing… and one thing only that can make men like us truly happy.

"Do you remember now, Jonah? Your life goals and what you are going to achieve from now on." Nathan asked with his deep voice, and I lifted my face with the most confidence I've ever had in years.

"Yeah! I remember now!"

Now, a light has shone into my future. I am now clear of what I truly wanted to do, and what I truly wanted to achieve.

The true greatness of humanity…

"I will find myself a girlfriend… and touch her boobs!! Whatever the cost!!" I declared to the beautiful path laid in front of me, and Nathan lifted both of his thumbs up.

"That's right!! True happiness starts there!!"

"Thank you for reminding me, master. Once again, I am indebted by your wise and thoughtful insight."

"It was nothing, my apprentice! Hahaha!"

"Ahahaha!!!"

The two of us then started laughing maniacally. All of the previous painful thoughts and realization that I had has completely disappeared. Now, it seems like I have found myself a pretty decent friend who can support me.

Meanwhile, Lily and Nyssa sitting in front of us only felt disgusted by our conversation.

"The orientation book doesn't say anything about killing… so it should be fine, right?" Lily muttered while reading the orientation book, and Nyssa looked like she agreed.

"Don't spare them. Delete their whole existence." Nyssa demanded while holding her body out of fear, and Lily agreed.

The boys are laughing and enjoying their time. Meanwhile, the girls are plotting a whole murder case of two aristocrats.

At the very least, our time in this academy is not going to be boring.
