"My name is Angel! Nice to meet you two crazy first years!" The eccentric female senior introduced herself, and she then turned to the right side of the table. "The senior who welcomed you just now is Caitlyn."
I turned to Caitlyn, the female senior who welcomed me, and waved my hand at her. "Nice to meet you. I'm Nathan."
"Same here!" Caitlyn happily waved her hand from a distance, and I turned my gaze back to the eccentric senior.
"Now, then. Mister Nathan, why don't you tell us a bit about why you want to join the club?" Angel asked with the same cheerful tone, and I only smiled before I answered.
"There are things that I would like to know about the origin inside our blood. I want to know all of it." I stated my wishes, and the senior looked interested. Next to me, Eric only chuckled, because that's practically the same reason as what he just told me.
"Is that so? Then, if what you need are answers, then you can just ask. Why bother joining the club?" Angel asked me boldly, and I knew this was a test from her.
However, I do not come here just to simply join the club. My goals are far deeper than that.
"In that case, I'd like to ask the question I've been wanting to know about. Is that all right?" I asked the senior, and she only giggled loudly.
"Then, ask away!"
"Then, I shall ask. Can you please tell me… whether or not it is possible for two different people to merge their origins into one?"
Hearing the question from my mouth, everyone on the table stopped what they were doing and listened. Next to me, Eric opened his eyes wide, but Angel was even more shocked by the question.
"Into… one body?" Angel asked to confirm, and I nodded.
"Let's say… one person has a fire origin. Can he or she transfer that origin into someone else, and make that second person have two origins?" I made sure my question made it to her perfectly, but it seems like Angel already understood the question.
"No, I understand what you mean. But you should also know that if such a thing was possible, there'd be someone out there with seven origins in their body walking around." Angel gave a completely logical answer, and I grinned upon hearing that.
"… But, there is." I said with a low tone, and Angel looked like her eyes were about to jump out of her face.
Next to her, a senior placed down a mechanical device he was working on. He then took off his glasses and turned his eyes at me.
"You're talking about the ancient war demon, 'Omega'?" That senior asked me, and I nodded firmly at him.
"Though only one, he is still an example of a person wielding more than two origins in their body." I explained what I know, but the senior shook his head.
"The war demon Omega has five origins. He doesn't have seven." The senior corrected, but I still stood by my belief.
"Then, it's still a solid enough proof that such a being existed, right? Hence, the question. Where did he get those origins from? And how?" I asked after pointing it out, and the senior seemed like he didn't have the ability to answer.
"Why bother asking such pointless questions?" A female senior on the right also placed down the mechanical device that they were working on, and I turned my attention to her. "That guy was dead over a thousand years ago. Plus, it's not like anyone with more than one origin ever existed."
"That's true. Asking such questions will only lead you to nothing, Nathan." Angel supported the other female senior, and I was left on my own.
Even the eccentric scientist like Angel agreed. Asking such impossible questions will do anyone no good. It's just going to be a waste of time.
However, that question is the beginning of all my problems. After all…
"What if I tell you that I have seen someone with more than one origin?" I said to them, and every single person on the table turned interested. However, Angel is still not buying it.
Angel let out a sigh and did a facepalm right in front of me. "It's not possible, Nathan… such an individual would've been famous throughout the entire Avenor."
"Oh, but he is." I said confidently, and Angel turned confused.
"… Who is it?"
She asked out of pure confusion, but I only grinned while lifting a finger to my mouth. "That's a secret!"
Hearing that, everyone turned disappointed. Angel specifically, because she was really interested in what I mentioned.
"You really… if you're going to waste our time, then go somewhere else. Someone with two or more origins in this world… those kinds of people only existed once in a thousand years." Angel said angrily, and I only laughed from seeing her so pissed.
"Excuse me." Next to me, Eric lifted his hand. "I don't know who you're talking about, but there is genuinely someone alive that has two origins in their bodies."
Hearing that, everyone on the table turned interested at Eric. Angel specifically, stood up a bit too angry.
"Who is it!? And you better tell me!" When she's angry, this senior is really scary, huh…?
Meanwhile, Eric just tilted his head a bit as he answered.
"My sister."
H-Huh…???
Hearing such a thing, everyone opened their eyes wide. The idea of a person owning two origins was something that existed only once in a thousand years. To think that such a person actually existed in our time is truly mind blowing.
"T-Then, where is she!? Why is she not here at the academy??" Angel asked out of genuine frustration, and I only giggled at her for being so curious. "Why are you laughing!? You're in no way related!"
Meanwhile, Eric only scratched his head while thinking. "Well, that's… never going to happen. Her going to the academy, that is…"
"And why… is that?? She is so talented??"
"Because she turned into a mass murderer at the age of twelve."
Hearing such an answer, every senior on the table opened their eyes wide. Meanwhile, I only laughed my stomach out from his answer.
Man, this guy is really something, huh!?
Angel tried to pull information out of Eric about his sister, but Eric seems too inclined on keeping it all a secret. Meanwhile, I also have no reason to be sharing the multi-origin person that I have in mind.
In case it wasn't obvious, it wasn't Eric's sister that I was thinking about. No, I'm thinking about someone else entirely.
The monster who once slaughtered my entire village. I remember that day so clearly as if it was only yesterday.
In the midst of all the flames of that battle, I watched with my own two eyes when two flashes of colors easily wiped out and murdered the strongest combatants of my village. My village, the Fiore village, which was known to be the village filled with dozens of strong individuals, was at the mercy of the monster. And the two flashes of colors gave me the answer as to why he was powerful enough to go against the powerful fighters of my village.
The colors I saw were bright white and jet black. The light and black color danced in the night, surrounded by the never ending flames that came from my village people. But even with dozens of flamethrowers going against him, the black and white monster killed them all.
Even Dad and Grandpa can't beat him. That monster was simply too strong, and I know why after remembering what he is capable of.
On his right hand, a bright white light envelopes his fist forming a bright white sword. On his left hand, a jet black shadow formed three massive claws that's capable of cutting down the strongest metal. With two special type origins inside his body, he alone came and massacred my entire village.
And against someone like that… the current me is nowhere near strong enough. Not even close.
I need to become stronger. Far stronger. But, I also need to find out exactly what he is.
A man with a light origin and darkness origin…
Just what exactly are you?
Of course, that question is for me to ask later. For now, I must first find out the possibility of someone having two origins, and that has been answered by Eric.
And because of such a mind-opening question like that, Angel, who is the leader of the origin science club, allowed me to join their club. She also allowed Eric to join because his question was also quite interesting, and I asked what question that Eric asked.
"A bit similar to yours, actually. But what he asked actually had a scientific answer to it, unlike yours!" Angel explained, and I turned to Eric with an annoyed stare.
"Asking her isn't telling me anything. So, what did you ask?" Instead of asking Angel, I just asked Eric, and that made Angel pissed.
"I just asked about the possibility of two origins merging into one. It's not about having two origins, but it's about having one origin that came from two different origins." Eric explained to me what he wanted to know, and I was surprised by that.
"Oh, really? Someone I know was like that." I answered so easily, and Angel looked like she's about to go bald.
"Oh, I guess that person is a secret!?" Angel asked angrily, but I just shook my head.
"No, this time she really is famous. She's the Dark Knight of Fiordall." I answered truthfully, and Eric looked really surprised. He immediately turned into deep thinking and started mumbling on his own.
"That… is true. I can't believe it. Someone actually did it." Eric mumbled on his own, and I became confused about something.
"Why were you curious about it?" I asked Eric, but he turned his cold stare at me.
"That's none of your business."
… Dude.
After I told you the answer that you needed?
"In any case, you must be familiar with the dark knight, aren't you? Since you're the prince and all." Eric mentioned, and I folded my arms while staring at him intensely.
"And what about it?"
"What was his origin? And what are the two origins that he merged into one?" Eric asked what he was curious about, and I only took a deep breath as I thought.
"Hmm, I don't know… what's in it for me?" I asked with a playful smirk, and I can tell Eric is quite annoyed by my behavior.
It's not my fault. He started this.
Eric stared at me quite intensely, and the seniors knew that we both have some sort of bad blood or something. Angel cleared her throat to capture our attention.
"Now, now! I guess it's only right for me to explain about the possibility of someone wielding two origins. And how two origins may merge inside one person's body to form another type of origin completely. I'm sure the two of you are curious about that, right?" Angel explained while sitting down, and both me and Eric nodded firmly at her.
Seeing that she has captured our attention, Angel turned excited. "To tell you the truth, you will learn about this in your third year. But, the key to your answers actually lies in the genes of an origin user."
The genes…? I have heard about this.
But, how can it be related to what I wanted to know?
A-And a third year topic??
This is about to be some mad science thing, isn't it...?
