Chapter 35 - 17. True Color (part 1)

Character : Nathan Fiore, True Color

-----

The class continued with the eighth place creating the biggest dent so far.

Pear Norwayne, a light origin user. Her light compressed blast was the strongest light origin technique that I've seen, and it created a big enough dent at the size of a fist. It was still not too big, but at least it's big enough to be noticeable compared to the others.

"Well done! Next up is… Crown Prince Rejulus!" Miss Hilda acts as if she is a commentator, and Rejulus lets out a loud sigh.

"No need for the title, miss…"

"Oh, sorry! In that case, just our humble and shy Rejulus." The vice headmaster fixed her words, and it made Rejulus even more annoyed. Well said, miss.

Reju stepped up and pointed his hand to aim. After a moment, the same fireball that he made during the combat test against me was formed. But, Reju didn't fire right away.

"How can I make this stronger?" Reju asked while keeping his eyes on the fireball, not wanting to release it just yet.

"Hmm, how about pushing the fireball smaller? Pressure it until it becomes as small as you can, then release it." Miss Hilda suggested, and I agreed to that idea because it can really make your fireball so much stronger. However, Reju seemed to have his own thoughts about it.

"T-That sounds so hard!!"

"Just give it a try! You can do it!" The vice headmaster cheered loudly, and everyone else also seemed to support her.

"You can do it, crown prince!!" One of the students who is close with Reju said, and I saw the opportunity.

"Grow up and just do it!" I said aloud, and Lily looks like she has something to say as well.

"Come on! Beat Nathan!!" Lily said aloud, and I turned my annoyed stare at her to find her sticking her tongue out at me.

Beforelong, everyone is cheering for Reju. Even the vice headmaster is shouting encouraging words. Reju had no choice but to just do his best.

"UWAAAHHH!!!!!!----"

In an instant, the fireball in his hands became five times smaller, only to the size of a human head. Once it was small enough that he couldn't handle it, Reju fired forward.

BOOM!!!!!!!!

Even the sound of the shoot was so loud. Sensing that this could be dangerous, the vice headmaster moved ahead in front of us and lifted her hand open. And far behind her, Reju's fireball hit the titanium wall.

BOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That explosion was very big, indeed. The metal wall got covered in a massive smoke cloud, and we couldn't see the result of it. The only thing we noticed after the blast was how the vice headmaster jumped in front of us and protected us from the debris.

"Woohoo!! I wasn't expecting it to be such a powerful blast!" She said happily, and everyone was very much startled by the power of the explosion just now.

The vice headmaster's origin… is wind. She created a powerful wind barrier in front of us to protect us from the shockwave and debris flying over. She seemed like the perfect teacher for Nyssa, who is also a wind origin.

The smoke at the titanium wall nearly disappeared, and it showed us the result. The blast just now created a massive dent on the titanium wall, as wide as the height of an adult man. The dent looked very deep as well, forming a vertical crater on the wall.

Speaking of crater, the ground in front of the wall is no more. That blast took away a huge chunk of the wooden floor as well as the rocky ground beneath that. It was really powerful, almost three times stronger than the blast he shot at me back at the combat test.

"W-Woah… I'm insane." Reju mumbled on his own, and the vice headmaster laughed as she wrapped her hands around the crown prince.

"You really are something!! I wonder who your teacher was at the kingdom."

"Well…" Reju turned his awkward stare at me, and I got confused as to why he was looking at me. The vice headmaster followed that stare and started pushing Reju away from the shooting area.

"Next up! Sir Jonah of the Calfman family, will you step forward?" The vice headmaster called for Jonah, and the big guy stepped ahead.

Sadly for Jonah, his technique wasn't as explosive as Reju. However, when he fired a stone spike to the titanium wall, thirty percent of the half a meter long stone spike was deepened inside the titanium wall. Meaning fifteen centimeters of the stone spike was stuck inside the wall, possibly making the deepest damage that was done to the wall all day long.

The vice headmaster went from coughing to laughing after seeing the result, and she praised Jonah endlessly. And I agree, Jonah's talent was nothing to laugh at. Of course, we need to see if his cousin can do as good, but he is coming up after this.

Because now… it was finally my turn.

"At fifth place, we have Regie Vaggran!" The vice headmaster announced, which got me confused.

Even Regie, who was watching from quite far away, got confused as to why he got called. Because based on the overall ranking of the test, Regie is supposed to be fourth. His overall rank was S, but he had one S+ score, which is his combat test. Because he won against Jonah that he got S+, and I don't have any S+ score, so his rank is placed higher than mine. Even though our overall rank was both 'S', his 'S' is much bigger than mine.

So, this is pretty confusing, but Regie stepped up anyway. Next to me, Lily asked why I didn't get called, but I have my own suspicions.

Regie fired his own version of stone spike, and it managed to stab the titanium wall, but only the tip made it. Seeing that Regie's result is worse than his, Jonah smiled knowing that he still has a chance.

Regie stepped back after shooting, and the vice headmaster called another name.

"Next up, in fourth place, Marvolo Alberto!" The vice headmaster announced, but a hand was lifted from the crowd of students.

"Excuse me, miss." I lifted my hand, and all eyes turned onto me. "I think there's a mistake with the positioning. I was supposed to be fifth."

"No, there's no mistake." She said to me, and I got really confused.

If I'm not fifth… and not fourth, then third? But both Marvolo and Regie got higher scores than me. Marvolo got two S+ scores, while Regie got one. I got no S+ score at all.

Marvolo then stepped ahead and fired his most powerful lightning strike, and the blast explosion nearly deafened everyone. His dent was pretty much similar to Reju's, as tall as an adult man with depth almost similar to a crater.

Marvolo then stepped back, and I got myself prepared to step forward. But, it seems like the vice headmaster has other plans.

"In third place, Winnyssa Vaico, please step forward!" Miss Hilda announced, and this time I'm sure something is up. I lifted my hand up again, and once again, all eyes turned onto me. "What is it again, little prince?"

She asked so cheerfully, but I only wore my concerned expression. "I still haven't been called."

"Nothing is wrong, darling. This is the right order that it is supposed to be." The vice headmaster seemed to be very certain about it, but I know very well that my scores are in no way better than Nyssa. In fact, everyone knows about it too.

"That can't be true. My overall score is S, while Nyssa's score is S+." I argued, but the vice headmaster only laughed while shaking her head.

"Do you think such letters matter? They are only an entrance examination. In the end, the real scores were kept hidden from the announcement." She said, which confused everyone... Even me.

"Then… when will I step forward?" I asked, fully knowing the answer. But, the vice headmaster seemed to be loving her game very much.

"Last, of course!" She said cheerfully, and I know immediately that this is wrong.

Both Nyssa and Eric seemed to be staying silent about it, but everyone else looked like they wanted to complain. Lily and Jonah don't understand what's going on, but they also know for sure that what is happening isn't right.

And since nobody else spoke up, I knew that I would have to fight this battle myself.

"My score during the firepower test is only S. Nyssa's score, and even Eric's score is S+." I argued once more, but the vice headmaster only shook her head softly.

"I've already told you, little prince… such measly letters don't mean anything to me." She reasoned once more, but I will fight this battle until the end.

"It is unfair to the people that have tried their best. I don't deserve to be up there--"

"Just stop acting, would you? You're really pushing me to the edge." The vice headmaster quickly switched gears, revealing a hidden side that no one here ever thought she had.

"You think I don't know what you're capable of? What about the fact that you toyed around at the capacity test and purposely getting the perfect two thousand points? Stop acting as if you're nobody, you're pissing me off.

I know better than everyone else that you are the most dangerous person in this room. Stop yapping about being weaker, would'ya? It's really annoying." The vice headmaster said with her true voice and tone, which really shocked everyone because she was so angry.

Her face when she spoke was really scary, as if she could yell at any moment.

Hearing such words out of her mouth, I was reminded of the fact that someone in this place will eventually know my true abilities. I'm just really annoyed that someone like her is the one who actually knows.

"… Fine." I said while folding my hands, not wanting to speak anymore. Seeing that I have given up, the vice headmaster then turned to Nyssa.

"Nyssa, go ahead!" The vice headmaster said cheerfully again, which confused everyone very much.

She went from showing her true face to being a cheerful teacher. This is really not something everyone can forget. But, Nyssa will have to step forward anyway.

Just like Eric, Nyssa is one of the five who managed to destroy the titanium wall. But, because this wall is three times thicker than before, it will be harder for her to destroy it.

How can someone with a wind origin have such a destructive power, you may ask? Well, Nyssa's use of her wind origin is just vastly different.

She is very-very creative.

Nyssa lifted her hand forward, creating a very visible wind spear that glows bright green. The wind spear was spun very quickly, almost making a vertical tornado, and everyone knew immediately that this much power can easily delete a person if they simply touch it.

Nyssa fired the wind spear ahead, and once again, the vice headmaster lifted both her hands to protect us.

VWOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The wind spear struck the titanium steel, easily melting the front side of it and creating a massive hole at the center from the destruction. Nyssa's damage to the titanium wall is easily the biggest one, since it almost managed to pierce through the titanium wall.

Seeing such damage at such a thick and impenetrable wall, everyone was in awe. Lily covered her opened mouth while mumbling about how monstrous Nyssa was, and I was just as surprised.

"Well… that was awesome!" The vice headmaster cheered, and nobody can blame her for cheering like that.

Such a powerful technique should've been only found on powerful members of high society, like the holy knight of the earth nation or the dark knight of the fire kingdom. And yet, here we are staring at the second coming of a wind god.

Nyssa turned around and lifted two fingers forming a V, and she stared intensely at us with her usual blank face. Seeing her being so proud of it, Lily looked like she wanted to cry.
