Chapter 40 - 19. Punishment (part 2)

My father is without a doubt of pure blooded fire origin. His gene should be 'F-f-L' or 'F-f-D'. I don't know exactly what the last letter of his gene would be, so I will have to look at his ancestors to know.

As for my mother…

"Fae's specialty is the white flame origin." Miss Hilda said back when we were discussing it in her room, and I was extremely surprised by that.

"Her abilities involve using her white flame origin. She can't use a normal flame, nor can she use the light origin, which was the two that was needed to form the white flame origin."

Now. What exactly is the gene that gives birth to the white flame origin?

It has to be 'F-n-L', then. Because the purity of the second level is none or empty, the fire origin and the light origin ended up battling each other. They ended up merging, and as a result, forming the white flame origin.

And knowing just how strong and dangerous Felicia was with her dark flame origin, it's easy to say that Mom also has the talent to reach such a level.

In that case, my gene should be 'F-f-L'. Because I was born from two fire origins, my purity should be that of a fire origin. Hence, the second letter will be the small 'f'.

A pure fire origin. I was wondering why I'm stronger than most people.

But, there has to be more. Something that truly makes me special than others who also have the 'F-f-L' gene. I bet Reju also has the 'F-f-L' or 'F-f-D' gene, so what exactly differentiate me and him? How am I a lot stronger?

The knowledge behind these genes only discusses the three levels of the genes. But, I bet there has to be more levels to this. A much deeper depth than what these three levels can show. More attributes that truly determine the strength and specialty of the origin.

This theory can be proven by how there are cases where someone with a fire and darkness origin can merge into the dark fire origin, but there are also some who can't merge them. They both have the same genes, which is 'F-n-D', so how can they be so different?

I must ask the origin science club about this. They might know more. Miss Hilda will be away from the academy, and I don't think I can ask anyone else.

For now, that's all for the genes. Next up is mastery.

Mastery is a phase for origin users where they have already gotten so good at using their element, that their strength and control is worlds beyond everybody else. Their origin capacity has grown so large, but their output ability will nonetheless stay the same.

Hence, the mastery phase will form in our body. This phase unlocks the limit of origin output, which results in a limitless release of the origin energy.

For example, let's say my current origin capacity is at 100%. Normally, I can only release 1% every minute, either by endlessly creating and shooting a fireball or continuously shooting a fire blast to the air.

That is very slow, considering my enemies are going to be a thousand times stronger than me. I will want to shoot stronger techniques at once, but I can't do that with such a small output size.

But with the mastery phase, I can release as much as I want at any time. I can release 5% per minute, or even in one straight go by making an overly large fireball.

Which was exactly what I did back at the training building. I created the fireball without any limit to my output, and it formed in almost an instant. After all, I did release so much out of pure anger, and it ended up demolishing half of the training building.

Another key difference that wasn't as important, is that whenever we enter the mastery phase, some parts of our hair will change colors. I've never seen this before, so I should keep a mirror with me at all times so I can see what it looks like. Certainly, some parts of my hair must've changed when I released that fireball at the training building.

I just have to… do it again. I just have to activate the mastery phase again.

How can I do that? I don't know! But, from prior examples, it seems like I just need to get really agitated. I hated her, but Miss Hilda has really taught me something. I will maximize my learning, even if I have to listen to an asshole like her.

Then… the awakening tier. It's something that purely came out of myths, so I don't believe learning this will help me in any way. For now, I should just learn the mastery phase and find out the truth behind genes.

After the first lesson ended, we moved to the front yard of the academy for the training class. Training class is held everyday, but at different times. For class J, it looks like we're having the training class at the second lesson of the day, unlike class A where they're having it at noon.

There are also multiple locations for the training class. Class A had their training class in the training building. For class J, we're doing it in the front yard, under the hot and dry sun of the desert.

The training class is different every single day. Sometimes the teacher is different, sometimes the topic that we're learning can be different. One thing for certain, the goal of the class is to learn and get better using any means necessary.

For class J, however, it seems like it's just a physical class. The teacher only told us to just run around the entire yard, wasting our stamina to build our muscle. There is not a single talk about how to use our origins at all from the teacher, so it looks like this class is focused only on physical education.

Though, that part of the class was only half of it. After about an hour and half, the teacher left the class to go somewhere else. We were left to train on our own, by ourselves. I can't help but realize this is not the way the class is supposed to be, but since the class will still continue until an hour and half more, everyone had no choice but to just practice by themselves.

And yet… nobody is practicing. Everyone is just sitting under the trees, chatting with each other while avoiding the sun. No one left the yard because the academy halls are guarded, and no students are allowed to roam around.

I sat under the tree by myself, a bit further away from a group of nerdy boys who sat under the same tree. I opened the book about the origin science, and I just passed the time while reading.

"Excuse me…"

From behind, a voice called out to me and I turned around. I noticed the boys are now looking at me, and it looks like they wanted something.

"Yes? How can I help you?" I answered politely, and the guy with round glasses in front of me smiled softly.

"I noticed that you were all alone… I wonder if you would like to join us? We can grab lunch later after this, if you want?" He suggested politely, and I realized he is just trying to get closer to me.

Considering my position, it wouldn't be weird for students like them who are at the bottom of the rankings wanted to learn from me. In which case, I absolutely have no problems with people who want to learn. If anything, I encourage them!

"Then, I'll join you guys!" I said cheerfully, and it looked like all four of them looked quite happy.

From how plain they looked and all the round glasses they wore, it seems like they are the type of guys who aren't popular around girls. They are the nerdy type, and I'm surprised that bunches like them would get in class J if they were smart.

Unless… they aren't smart? In which case, I am so sorry for assuming.

I walked closer to them, and the guy with spiky hair welcomed me. "Happy for you to join us! We're actually still getting to know each other, so let's get along!" He said just as cheerfully, and I nodded.

"Can I ask you guys something?" I said to all four of them, and they all turned their wondering stares at me. "Why did the teacher just leave the class? He didn't mention anything earlier."

Hearing that question, all four of them looked pretty confused.

"We… don't really know." The round glasses who approached me earlier said, and I turned to him. "All we know is that this isn't the first time this happened. Even the previous teacher only taught us for an hour before leaving."

Maybe… that's a normal situation for the training class? I never got to complete the class yesterday because Miss Hilda is just pure evil, so I had no clue.

"Hmm, I see. I didn't get the chance to finish my class yesterday because I blew up the training building." I said with a wide grin, and they all looked really happy that I was willing to share something.

"T-That reminds me! How did you bring explosives to the academy?" The spiky hair asked me, but his bald friend next to him bumped his elbow.

"Why are you asking such things?" The bald guy asked with an annoyed tone, and spiky hair just waved his hand around.

"I don't know! I'm just curious! Aren't you guys also?" He stared at everyone, but no one seemed to be as excited to know as he was. "Oh, come on! Who doesn't like to blow things up!?"

I like this guy. He knows what's important.

"Well, it was an accident, so… please don't take me as a terrorist." I said while smirking, and everyone understood it.

"Can you tell us what the training class was like for class A?" The tall guy with long hair suddenly asked me, and I noticed he has been silent for a while now. He asked such an interrogative question despite staying silent, so I guess he must be quite careful towards me.

"Well, we were shooting the titanium wall that was used at the entrance exam." I told them the truth, and they all looked really shocked.

"R-Really!? Then, did it get… destroyed again?" Round glasses guy asked after remembering, and it looked like everyone else got curious as well.

"Well, the vice headmaster brought us a much thicker wall. It didn't get destroyed, but some people did ruin it badly." I didn't really tell the full truth on this one, and it seems like that was more than enough.

"That's really insane… I remember I can't even put a dent." The round glasses guy commented, and everyone else also chimed in.

"Yeah, that wall was really tough! To be able to destroy it… you definitely needed a lot of power to do that!" Spiky hair commented, and the long haired guy turned to me.

"How much damage did you do to the wall during the class?" Once again, he asked such a curious question. As I expected, this guy is really something.

"Oh, I barely made a dent. The wall is so thick, and I think it might've been stronger than before." I lied.

"But, still… to be able to put a dent on a wall like that… that's crazy! What kind of technique did you use?" Round glasses asked, and it seems to me that this guy has the highest curiosity out of them all.

"Well, I can show you guys." I said, and they all turned excited.

I lifted my hand to the skies, and I formed a rather stable fireball that isn't that hard to make. Then, I just fired off the fireball to the skies.

BOOMM!!!!!

The fireball exploded after reaching twenty meters in the air, and we all felt the slight shockwave that came because of it. Everyone was amazed by that explosion, and they all complimented me.

"How can I make a powerful technique like that!?"

Spiky hair asked away what everyone was thinking, and I just laughed hearing such excitement.

"It's very easy!"

Looks like I won't be bored over here, after all.
