Chapter 43 - 21. Skipping Class (part 1)

Character : Nathan Fiore, Skipping Class

-----

After the lunch break ended, everyone went back to class because they didn't want to be late.

Meanwhile, I stayed at the canteen to finish my lunch. My talk with them ended up getting cut off by the bell, and I couldn't tell them everything in time before the break ended. Now, I'm just eating at the canteen all by myself while everyone else left for class.

"You sure are full of surprises, aren't you, Prince?" A voice was heard behind me, and I turned my mouth-filled face to the person approaching me.

"Eric… class is about to start--"

"I don't really care. Nothing that they have in that class will be useful for me, anyway." He said coldly right before he sat down, and it looks like he has every intention to skip the class.

Eric had a beverage cup in his hands, and I can only assume it's either tea or coffee. From the way he is staring at me, it looks like he has some questions.

"I see you have some questions." I said to him, and he nodded firmly.

"How did you do it?" Once again, Eric asked if I understood him. Then again, people like us don't really need random chit-chat to get into things.

"I'm not sure. What happened really just happened, and I had no clue since it never happened before." I told him how I truly felt about that explosion at the training class yesterday, and he looked rather confused by it.

"So, it was just a fluke?"

"I wouldn't say that. I do have every intention to release a ton of power. I just didn't know it was that powerful." I said to him loud and clear, and Eric looked like he understood.

"… It is a fluke, then."

"Then, what if I tell you that I know how to do it again?" Hearing such words, Eric opened his eyes wide, and he laughed after seeing the grin on my face.

"At least wipe that sauce off your face if you're trying to look cool." He said so suddenly, and I was confused. I wiped my face and found sauce on my hand, and I must've looked really stupid with that.

"Well, sorry for eating in a hurry, but class really has started."

"I think people like you and I don't really need to attend any of those classes. There's no point in learning things like history." Eric said so confidently, and I laughed hearing him say that.

"On the contrary, people like us needed academic education more than anyone! If I don't learn history, then I wouldn't know anything about the war demon who has five origins." I gave a rather useful argument, and Eric seemed like he had trouble understanding.

"If you can become strong enough, then there's no point in learning about those things. Even a war demon with five origins won't mean anything if you're strong."

"That can't always be true. He is known as a war demon for a reason. Maybe if you learned history, you'd known better!" I said while sipping my water with a grin, and Eric looked really annoyed.

"I'm still not going to class."

"Well, I am. Sorry for leaving you like this." I said before getting up, and it looks like Eric has intentions to stop me.

"Instead of going to class," He said right after I stood up, and I turned my curious face to him. "Why don't we go to a different place where we can learn better things?"

Eric's suggestion does intrigue me, but I don't know where this place he is talking about.

After he told me about it, I can see why someone like him would get interested in visiting such a place. However… this is extremely risky.

"Is this really such a necessary thing to do?" I asked out of concern after we arrived, but Eric only chuckled.

"Relax, you goody-two-shoes Prince. The worst they can do to us if we get caught is being sent to another class." Eric said while climbing up the vertical stairs, and I just watched his butt as he arrived at the ceilings.

"But I already got that punishment!"

"Well, that's your problem."

This guy… if only it's allowed to shoot someone's butt with a fireball, I'd do it on a whim.

Eric opened the hatch in the ceilings, and he exited the roof. Once he was outside, I followed behind him and climbed up the stairs, and I finally arrived at the top.

"Woah… How did you find this place?" I said while looking at the view, and Eric only shook his shoulder.

"I wonder. Let's say a senior told me about it."

The place he brought me to is the rooftops of a tall tower still part of the class building. The tower is very tall, and almost everything in the academy can be seen from here. Other than that, we can also enjoy the entirety of Ellen from up here.

This view is really something…

"Don't fall." Eric said coldly before he walked closer to the edge, and he began to lower himself to the ledge.

"W-Wait, are we going down?" I walked closer as Eric got down from the top, and apparently there's hidden steps at the side of the tower.

"This is the only path to reach the place. Don't tell me you're scared of heights?" Eric said as he slowly went down the hidden steps carefully, and I let out a sigh.

This guy is for sure going to get me in trouble…

Arriving at the bottom of the steps, we are now on the rooftops of the class building. It is technically impossible to get up here without bringing a ladder, but we just took the difficult hidden route that allows us to reach this place.

Now that we are up here, Eric just walked calmly to go to the very corner of the building. And if I'm not wrong, the place that we are looking for can be seen from that corner.

"There it is." Eric mumbled, and we arrived at the place.

It is a combat arena. It is a private arena owned by the academy, and it is not a place that simply anyone can enter. However, it's not like the arena isn't used for nothing.

Just like the first years, the second and third years also have their own training classes. The theme of their training classes can be different for every session, but they are certainly more advanced than anything that the academy taught in the first year.

And this arena is reserved only for one class in the entire academy. Class A of the third year.

The third year's curriculum is a bit different than the first and second years. Instead of having math or history classes, the academy focuses the third years more towards their specialties. It can be combat, academic subjects, or even research.

Everyone inside that arena are geniuses that have spent over two years at the academy. They are students who held the academy's quality high, and they are the academy's flagship of this year.

"I'm always curious about what kind of students in the third year. I was wondering if they have the knowledge and experiences that I have never seen before." I said while studying the arena from up here, and from the amount of wild explosions that occurred in the arena, I can tell the academy really focuses a ton of resources into those students.

A single fireball can explode so massively, just like Reju's fireball. The weakest lightning strike we saw just now is just as good as Marvolo's. So far, there were no origin techniques that were as good as Nyssa's or Eric's. But, we might be able to see something that is rather interesting if we watch longer.

Right now, the class is shooting their origin techniques at a very powerful target. It seems like this is a routine for them since the class just started, to get them heated up. And once they are done with the warming up, the real class starts.

"They are doing battle drills!?" I shouted from shock, because this is something that can only be found in advanced military classes. Meanwhile, Eric looks like he is quite surprised by this as well.

"Looks like they really are taking the classes seriously. So seriously… that it's like they are preparing them for war." Eric commented, and I had no problems agreeing.

The class looked like it was cut in half. They formed positions and arrangements for each side, and it didn't take long until they started attacking each other.

From the looks of it, their clothes are slightly different from our academy uniform. It looks like they are wearing a battle suit that looks like the uniform, but colored very differently. Seeing the amount of origin techniques being shot at each other, I was worried that someone's limb might fly off. But, it looks like the battle suit is a very good military grade one.
