Character : Nathan Fiore, Limit Break
-----
After hearing that there will be a quick spar, the arena was immediately prepared for the event.
All the seniors who were present, about three in total, quickly started preparing the arena for the spar. At the command of the vice headmaster, they lifted the arena's powerful barrier and brought the special battle clothes uniform that the academy made especially for dangerous sparring such as this.
So far, this is the first time I've ever sparred with anyone here. There was a sparring class with class J, but I wasn't taking it seriously because everyone was so much weaker than me.
But now, my opponent is the best student of the third year, possibly the entire academy. It shouldn't hurt to go all out, right?
"I must warn you, but keep your strength at bay." Miss Hilda suddenly said to me before the sparring started, and I turned my surprised stare at her.
"H-Huh??"
"Are you going to kill him!? The mastery phase is very dangerous!" She said with great concern, and it looks like I have underestimated the mastery phase so much.
"I'm not going to kill him… but, you're right. I'll try being careful." I said as an affirmation to her, and she can breathe in relief.
Miss Hilda then turned to Perry who was arriving wearing his battle suit, and she smiled softly at him. "Sorry for troubling you with this, Perry."
"It's all okay, ma'am! I'm just doing my job as a good senior!" Perry said energetically, and he turned his confident smile at me.
"You don't have to worry about hurting me, Nathan! So, feel free to go serious!" Perry said confidently, and I can tell he is very full of himself.
"Thank you, Senior. I'll do my best." I nodded slightly at him, and Perry looked very happy. Seeing his face now, it's clear to me that he is really confident in beating me. I'm probably just a child in his eyes.
But, now that I have the mastery phase on, even I can't tell how strong I've become.
"Ready!" Miss Hilda loudly announced, and the two of us got prepared. None of us are using weapons, so it will just be a purely origin battle. And in a fight between fire origins, it's only natural for the area surrounding us to get melted.
"Get set!" The two of us are now ready, and the time to show off has come.
"Begin!!" Miss Hilda swiped her hand down, and the senior quickly shot a powerful fireball at me.
The fireball flew very quickly to where I stood, but I noticed that this fireball is very well made despite it being created so quickly. I can tell why the senior was so confident in his ability, because he really does have the experience and talent to back up that confidence.
But, I won't even need the mastery phase to face this. Alas, it is a sad reality because I needed to test out the firepower of this new addition.
Sorry, Senior Perry… but you'll have to get cooked for a bit.
BOOOMMM!!!!!!!!
The fireball immediately arrived at where I stood, and it exploded massively. The explosion sent out a shockwave to the world around us, and everyone who saw it turned worried about my well being.
"H-He isn't dead, is he!?" Senior Perry asked with concern, but the vice headmaster only smiled.
"Nope. You should be worried for yourself, instead." Hearing Miss Hilda's words, Senior Perry turned confused. Soon after, the smoke dissipates, revealing the glowing red eyes behind the smoke.
This… power.
Limit break, huh? It's so... powerful.
I can tell why Miss Hilda was so worried, because the meaning of the name is literally the definition of power.
Limit break means breaking the limit. It breaks the humane constraints that keep us from overusing our energy. But, once we have too much energy inside of us, it is bound to grow out of the container and possibly break the lid.
Behind the smoke is just me, standing completely still. My body looked unharmed whatsoever, and there's no sign of my body being burned. Instead, my hand is holding what seemed to be a very special fireball, but it looked so perfectly spherical that it emits a very powerful aura.
"My turn, right?" I said happily, and I lifted my hand to the skies.
VWOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fireball I'm holding immediately turned ten times larger, far larger than the one I made that destroyed half of the training building. Seeing the massive fireball burning on top of my head, Perry's butt dropped to the ground. He only stared out of fear for his life as the flame god stared down at him while holding the sun.
GREB!!!
Next to me, a hand grabbed my right hand holding the massive fireball, and I noticed the expression that the person is wearing.
Seeing Miss Hilda just staring at me with a worried face, I just smiled softly. She didn't even say a word because she knows that I don't want to hurt anyone, but she still had to grab my hand in case something truly went wrong. She knew I understood, but she still stopped me out of pure concern.
Limit break… it is just far too fearsome.
I retracted the fireball, and it disappeared into the air after a quick swirl. After it was gone, Miss Hilda let go of my hand, and I was able to lower it.
"You nearly broke my bones…" I muttered while rubbing my wounded hand, and she looked like she wanted to explode.
"You nearly killed the entire academy!"
"I was never going to shoot it anyway!"
As the two of us argued, Miss Hilda then turned to Perry. She knew that Perry must've been too shocked to understand, and she started approaching him.
"Go back to class J for now. Tomorrow, you'll go back to class A." Miss Hilda said to me before approaching Perry, and it looks like the time has come.
I can't wait to greet the others!
The day went by, and as always, I visited Eric at the basement during lunch break and afternoon break. The guy is doing his best, and I didn't really annoy him. But he does explode randomly at me, even though I was staying silent.
After school ended, I went to Miss Hilda's office for some more talking. She told me the story of how things with the dark republic had been during the one month she was gone, and it wasn't pleasant.
War really is coming. Very soon, all students who were from the dark republic will be sent back home to avoid any further unwanted events.
Lucky for us, the headmaster has been busy preparing both Ellen and the academy for the future. The headmaster has also been working with officials from all over the land, even with the king of Fiordall. They all knew that the dark republic has the military strength that is not something they can ignore, and if they really are planning to be hostile towards us, then the countries will form an alliance to take care of them.
As for the goal as to why they are starting this war… it's quite simple. The dark republic has a long history of enmity towards the rest of the land. They were knocked to the northern side of the land, a cold faraway land that kills every living being during the winter.
A long time ago, they were exiles. Banished from the mainland. And after maintaining their emotions and anger for so long, they gathered strength until finally they had the power to challenge the world.
Their leader is someone who is capable of defeating Fiordall's strongest fighters within the Fiore village, including my mother who was said to be the best graduate of Ellen. As such, the alliance of kingdoms has prepared themselves a special group to find a way to deal with such an individual.
To kill the tyrant of the dark republic, the alliance will form a group consisting of only the most capable fighters and knights from all over Avenor. Special individuals like the Dark Knight of Fiordall, the Holy Knight of the earth nation, or even the headmaster of the academy himself, will be gathered together in hopes of one day defeating the tyrant president of the dark republic.
And amongst those people… there is a chance that even I was included.
"I have a new task for you." Miss Hilda said to me right before I left her office.
It was already nine in the evening. We talked about the war situation for so long that time just passed without us realizing. If I stay any longer, then unpleasant rumors might spread, so I should leave now.
But before I opened the door, Miss Hilda called me for a new task.
"A student of mine… well, a graduate of the academy, said that she is starting a new military group to deal with the dark republic. She asked me to find seven individuals of my choosing to become part of a special unit within her military group. As for what the criteria was for each of them… she only said that all seven must be from different origins." Miss Hilda explained the source of this new task, and I became confused.
"So… each from the seven origins?"
"Yes. One from fire origin, one from water, and so on. If possible, I'd like to insert you in the fire origin position." She pointed her finger at me, and I realized that this is done so that I can join the war much faster and easier.
"So that I can join the war much faster, right?"
"Precisely. This military group will soon light up fire within the news, and it's going to be famous very quickly. Now, imagine if the second prince of Fiordall were to join and become a part of it."
"People will be very excited about it." I guessed correctly, and she nodded.
"Your task isn't just to join. In the future, I'll create a tournament where every student from the academy can enter. I'll make it so that the winner of every origin will take the position within the special unit, so make sure you win it." Miss Hilda further explained her plan, and I nodded firmly.
"Then, can I ask something?" An idea popped into my head, and I feel like I have to ask this.
"Ask away."
"If… let's say I found people who I think fit that position well… can I train them so that they can join?" I asked away what's on my mind, and Miss Hilda just shook her shoulder.
"Well, if they can win the tournament, why not? Do you have people in mind?" Hearing her question, I just grinned.
"That's a secret."
